I ordered an iPad for my daughter a week before we were due to fly out. It was never delivered, and as far as I can tell, delivery was not properly attempted. By the time I contacted Back Market to find out what was going on, the item was already being returned to the reseller.
That is when the real problem became clear. Back Market seem to have no control over the reseller, no useful contact with the delivery process, and no real ability to fix anything when it goes wrong. Their customer service was awful, with scripted robotic responses, zero ownership and no urgency.
I spent over an hour trying to raise a complaint, only to be told it was not a complaint and that there was basically no point. When it was finally escalated, the response was just as poor.
Back Market is not a proper retailer in my experience. It is a marketplace hiding behind third party resellers, and when something fails, the customer is left stuck in the middle.
The final insult was being told to send a written complaint by post to France. Absolutely ridiculous.
Terrible delivery process. Terrible customer care. Terrible complaints procedure.
I would not buy from Back Market again, and I would strongly warn others to avoid them.

Since the first device I received had charging issues and I had to replace it, I truly appreciated the convenience of this feature, and the replacement process was straightforward. The second device looks and works wonderfully. However, the first device came with a suitable charging adapter, which I naturally returned along with it, while the new device did not include an adapter in the box — which was a slight disappointment. Still, the new device is so good that this detail is easily manageable.

Not receiving refund!
I bought a refurbished Pixel 8 Pro for £360 at excellent quality. The first phone had persistent GPS and network faults, so Back Market arranged a replacement. The replacement arrived on 17 June 2026 with a cracked screen and the same GPS and network faults — two non-conforming devices in a row.
I reported it on 1 July 2026, day 14, within Back Market's own 14-day reporting window. The claim was refused as "reported late" because their team counted from 2 July — the day an agent first opened my ticket — not the day I sent my report. I corrected this in writing. Their final response maintained the refusal without disputing my timestamp. The only offer made in the entire process was a 5% discount code for a future purchase which is a giant spit in the face.
The Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives consumers 30 days to reject faulty goods for a full refund — a statutory right no internal reporting policy can shrink, and I was inside even their own window. Meanwhile, my payment provider says in writing that only the merchant can issue a refund, while Back Market's final response directed me to my payment provider.
I have now raised a formal complaint with Back Market's legal team, served a subject access request for the original ticket timestamps, and am escalating via Citizens Advice and Trading Standards. A full £360 refund resolves this.
