We rented a car at Autovia Catania end of October. At the return desk customer service suddenly mentioned that there was a problem with the key hole of the car. As we were completely surprised the employee explained us that the key hole at the driver side has been manipulated (barely not visible!). After explaining that we never parked outside gated parking spaces and we did not check the key hole she nevertheless filed a complaint and we now have to pay 475 €. What cheek!!

Dear Customer, we are truly sorry to read about your experience and we understand your surprise and frustration regarding an issue that was raised only at the time of vehicle return.
We would like to clarify that any anomalies or damages detected at check-in are reported only following inspections carried out according to standard procedures, even when they concern less visible components. In cases of suspected tampering, a report is required to protect the vehicle and to comply with insurance obligations.
That said, we fully understand your point of view, especially if the car was always parked in gated areas and if the issue was not noticeable during normal use. For this reason, any charge must be supported by clear and verifiable documentation, and the customer is entitled to receive detailed explanations.
We kindly invite you to contact us at customercare@autovia.it , providing your rental agreement number and dates, and requesting the documentation related to the claim (photos, assessment or report). Our team will carefully review the case and provide you with a detailed response.
We remain available to clarify the situation transparently. The Autovia Team
