Best Ebike - Cycle to Work Scheme - Insurance provider
I had my Ebike purchased on Cycle to work scheme insured with Yellow Jersey after doing some research on the available insurance providers in the market!
Most of the insurance providers didn’t cover cycle to work scheme bikes, Yellow jersey was one of the few insurance providers with top ratings who did this.
I got my bike insured , however it was stolen recently outside a shopping superstore in broad daylight, during peak times in front of many shoppers, when someone fully covering his face cut off an 15/15 standard lock with a machine cutter.
I was very stressed after this happened as I have lost nearly £3k in few minutes. However Yellow jersey processed my insurance claim, took few days, and approved my claim. I was definitely super happy for the support Yellow jersey has given me during this stressful times.
I feel my claim was handled well. I will definitely recommend Yellow jersey to other people buying bikes on a Cycle to Work scheme without any big research as their prices are fair, service is excellent and their support is more than 5 stars!
I have purchased a new bike and I’m going to purchase a insurance again with yellow jersey!
Thanks Yellow Jersey team!
Your excellent support is appreciated!

DO NOT USE.
Awful awful company. Had a bike accident, sent them all the documents they asked for. Told me they'd send a box for my bike to be delivered to the repair company. Box never arrived and zero follow up from them. I still have the email saying they'd have it shipped to repair shop.
Horrible horrible company!! DO NOT USE!!!!!!

Useless in case of bike accident
I've been a Yellow Insurance customer for several years with their multitrip worldwide cycling travel insurance.
Unfortunately, I recently had a scary accident (hit by car) while abroad on a cycling trip and discovered that their insurance is useless. Medical expenses were covered by Spanish healthcare. For the damages to the bicycle and bicycle accessories yellow jersey provided no support whatsoever.
I mean, what's the point of a cycling travel insurance if it's useless when you actually have an accident while cycling?
I wouldn't buy from them again, nor recommend them to anyone.

Unfortunately due to an injury I was unable to participate in a planned cycling event. Very pleased I had purchased the yellow jersey insurance. The claims process was very straightforward and efficient and uploading relevant documents easy. Swift response from Sean and confirmation that claim would be paid.

I would like to thank Yellow Jersey…
I would like to thank Yellow Jersey for quickly handling the claim on my stolen bike. The communication with Kien was very quick and efficient. I've sent the requested documents and pictures, and within 2 working days got a message saying the claim has been accepted. I don't have a bike to insure at the moment, but when I get one I will definitely insure it again with Yellow Jersey. Few things to note: make sure you insure the cost of the bike + any upgrades you would like to claim insurance for in case of theft. Also, I had the bike marked both with permanent marking from BikeRegister and with DNA+. I had everything well documented so the claim process was easy. Make sure you have everything sorted in advance, as it will be much harder to figure things out after your bike is gone.

Helpful despite complexity!
My situation wasn't that straight forward. I was helped all the way through and the one dealing with my claim spent a long time going through the emails to get to the decision of what to do next. I'm sure not all claims end in a positive solution but this one did. It could have gone through the repair route but on second look, I was given the insurance money to buy a replacement bike. I was sent a bike box to pack up my old broken one (sniff!) and now looking forward to new adventures on a replacement bike! (Inflation means I need to add money to get to the same level! But hey, my bike was 8 years old!!)

Really worst insurance company please don't consider it.
Really worst insurance company. Initially they will says your claim has approved and finally the manager Jonathan Ryan , will mail you ' your bike is not as EPAC standards so we are cancelling your insurance' they are very greedy they wants our premium. there is no point to take insurance from them. because some one steals my electric bike. because of this rubbish insurance company I lost my insurance claim. please don't take any insurance from yellow jersey, if you take insurance you will loose your hope at the end along loose of your bike.

A very pleasant and comforting experience
Jonathan handled my case with empathy and professionalism, and was always quick to respond. He clearly explained what was within coverage, and outlined additional documents required when necessary. While my crash was unfortunate and unpleasant, my experience with him and Yellow Jersey went a long way in easing me back into the sport. Thank you for your assistance!

During winter riding my Brompton…
During winter riding my Brompton Electric smacked a pothole and I came off. Got a quote for repairs from a bike mechanic.
I'd never made an insurance claim before so wasn't sure about time frames or info requirements but yellow jersey's emails were quite simple to understand.
I provided receipt for the bike, proof of identity and address. Before photos and after showing damage, also a video of how warped the front wheel had become and the mechanics quote and feedback. This info was gradually provided on a Monday to the very helpful Kien Dang Cert CII and by Friday the claim had been approved and hopefully in my account by next week. So I can now greenlight the mechanic to start work.
A week turn around time to claim approval is better than I'd expected. The experience has also been a learning curve, make sure you have receipts for the stuff you want to claim and figuring out what "Total Excess" means. Also make sure that an item is "part of the bike" or an accessory when insuring. For example a shiny new saddle is added to the bike value and not an accessory.
Kien was also knowledgeable about additional queries and very helpful. Well Done Kien and Yellow Jersey!

Simple, efficient and caring service!
I was in an accident, and Jonathan was so receptive and empathetic to my situation and injuries. He made the process of filing a claim and getting coverage for my helmet damage so seamless and easy, which is something that was so appreciated after a traumatic accident. I honestly didn’t have much expectation going into this because of the size of Rapha, but I was so incredibly impressed and pleasantly surprised. The experience was so personal, and I felt that I was treated like an actual human being, when cyclists are so often dehumanized. I have nothing but high recommendations and praise.

Flawless experience
Flawless experience, had a fall which damaged one of my bike accessories. I made a claim and they very quickly agreed to pay for the damaged item with no issues.
I’m glad I took out this insurance as I believe they will be just as good should anything else happen to my bike.

Something pretty straight forward turns into weeks of waiting
On 23/10/2022 a day after receiving new bicycle I was attacked. I had another bike thrown in front of mine, I went over the bars landed on my head (the helmet definitely saved my life or had something to do with me being able to write this review!) onto my shoulder and then smashing my hip before they threatened me with a zombie knife. I was taken to hospital on a stretcher where I spent a day being monitored including x-rays and scans.
Since the incident I had obviously been both physically and mentally impacted. Yellow Jersey has not made this any easier! Granted the incident happened a day after I got the bike and therefore a day after I took the insurance policy (which I paid in full at inception), so I can see why eyebrows could have been raised BUT from day dot I provided them with everything I had, receipts, ID, images, communications with the police, a crime reference number and my victim statement. They came back and requested a screenshot of where the incident happened which i sent alongside some pretty telling images of my injuries. I was then asked "Just to confirm, was the helmet also stolen along with the bicycle? I assumed you would have been wearing the helmet at the time of the incident".... pretty dumb question (why would they rip a broken helmet of of my head, I'd say it was obvious my claim for my helmet was due to damage and not theft. Then got told it would be passed to a manger for review "Due to the value of my bike and nature of theft". I was then asked "Can you provide me with a screenshot of your phone log to show your call to the police on the day of the incident" and "Was the bicycle previously insured with any other another insurers?" and "I note on some of the documents you had provided there is an alternative address, would this happen to be your previous address?" All seemingly genuine questions but also seemingly trying to get a reason not to pay (as all insurers do). Firstly, screenshot of my phone log? What will this prove that my crime reference and victim statement already wouldn't have, they obviously don't follow up on this when you provide it. (plus screenshot of a call log is questionable really but that's an argument for another day). Secondly, was the bike previously insured with anyone else.... which it hadn't but why does that matter? And thirdly, the address question... it was an old address that Ribble simply didn't update on their system, a part of me gets why it was asked but then I'd also question the fact would I not have had verification checks done prior to the policy. either way all these questions seemed irrelevant seeing as they all go back to everything that i had supplied from day one and was just delaying the process.
I could go on and on about this, and I'll probably get a back and forward reply which I haven't got the energy for. But i just don't feel very well treated, don't feel very empathised with after what has been such a traumatic experience. If anyone from the real world, including both of my cycling clubs looked at this case from my first email it's a clear open and shut case had the crime reference and police details actually been used but no almost 3 weeks later and the case drags on. Bear in mind every time they ask a question and you reply it extends the wait by 2 more days due to their SLA (a couple of occasions I have received a quicker reply but still not great in my opinion).
UPDATE TO REPLY: "Whenever a theft claim is submitted, we have a duty to carry out multiple due diligence checks to ensure the validity of a claim" & “In the instance of a bicycle theft, our insurers will require us to ensure that all formal checks are carried out. This would include basic request of a screenshot of a call you made to the police. In addition to this, asking to see if you have any other insurance policies in force or previous insurance policies is standard practice” These comments make my complaint and dissatisfaction even more significant and shows you don’t really understand the issue of my dissatisfaction............. If these are “standard” practices/questions just ask it all up front! You knew from day one all the information of what happened to me, so you should be prepared with EVERYTHING required from day one...not ask one thing get and immediate reply from me and then ask another question with ANOTHER 2 day wait according to your SLA. Just ask for all the information upfront instead of asking for it in drips and drabs and leaving me waiting days at a time just to be given yet another request/question, all of which as you say are standard and therefore should just me asked right away. The lead time cold have been greatly reduced if this had happened!

BEWARE OF THE HIDDEN CLAUSE
In all fairness, when I dealt with the company for claims they were rather good.
HOWEVER, cyclists need to be aware that they have the "three-three" rules which is designed to catch you out as it's not written anywhere! Basically if you have THREE claims in THREE years, you are UNTOUCHABLE!!
So best save the claims for the really bad ones and hope you don't get killed beforehand.

horrendous experience
very poor experience with this insurer. had my e-bike stolen shortly after I’ve purchased their Ultimate policy whilst doing deliveries. ridiculously high price by the way, but you must get their top of the range policy as a courier
then they’ve rejected the claim because.. and I cannot emphasise this enough, they “BELIEVED” the bike was not properly secured as everything happened very fast. to me that sounds they’ve made a decision based solely on an assumption just to avoid paying the claim, despite securing the bike as per their terms. Perhaps they’ve used as leverage the fact that I’m a courier rider and knew it’s quite likely I’m not gonna be affording taking them to court. so if you’re having a similar incident without any CCTV footage (the police did not rush to investigate and did not check any CCTV from the area) or if you’re not getting physically assaulted, probably they’ll skip paying any theft claim
they didn’t even bother to contact the police or at least this is what I’ve been told by the officer investigating the case. they were keep asking me about a crime report, but the police categorically refused to provide me with any sort of official report (I live in Scotland and apparently here the police is not making any reports available to the public) and kept suggesting to advise the insurer to contact them through their own channels using the case reference number provided
long story short, the bike has been found by mistake at an address in Aberdeen by the police who executed a warrant for a completely different reason there after 3 months. the bike have been pretty thrashed, but after changing some parts I managed to get it into an acceptable working order. happy ending, but horrible and super stressful experience with this insurer given the high value of the bike
maybe they are better at paying a claim if you’re crashing, ‘cause they won’t be able to avoid that. for me was a complete waste of energy and money
