Outstanding Customer Service
I received an absolutely outstanding customer service experience purchasing my new car from Jack. He was polite, courteous and answered all the questions I had when I first went to see the car, and again when I picked it up and drove happily off the forecourt. He explained all the details of the car to me and took the time to help me connect my phone. Buying my car from Your Best Car was truly a stress free and joyful experience. I would highly recommend.
Very disappointing experience
Very disappointing experience – 4-hour journey wasted
I travelled around 4 hours to this dealership to view and purchase a 2019 Volkswagen Golf R. Before travelling, I specifically messaged the salesman, Dan, and asked whether there was anything specifically wrong with the car that I needed to know about. I was told there were no issues.
When I arrived, I found significant damage to the sill of the vehicle which had not been disclosed to me. When I pointed it out, Dan told me he was actually aware of the damage because his manager had told him about it, but this information was never passed on to me.
I was then told the car had previously been advertised at £25,000 and had been reduced by £1,000. However, the price I saw and considered the car at was £24,000. The advert did not state that the £1,000 reduction was due to the damage, nor was I told this before travelling. So I don’t understand how telling me the car “was” £25,000 is relevant when I viewed it advertised at £24,000. I had specifically asked whether there were any issues before travelling and was told there weren’t.
I explained that I was still willing to purchase the car if they rectified the damage, especially after travelling 4 hours and spending around £200 on the journey. Unfortunately, they said they could not and would not do anything about it.
I repeatedly asked to speak to a manager but was told nobody was available and to call on Monday. Another salesman, Jack, could only apologise and offered no solution.
I was also told, “the car doesn’t seem to be for you as you want mint.” I never expected a used car to be mint. There were other scratches and dents on the vehicle that I was completely willing to accept. My issue was the significant damage to the sill, which is clearly more than a minor scratch or small dent and would require proper repair. This was damage I believe should have been disclosed, especially after I specifically asked if there were any issues with the car before travelling four hours to view it.
I work in the motor trade myself and have around 8 years’ experience, so I understand that used cars will have imperfections. I believe I was very reasonable throughout and simply expected significant known damage to be disclosed when I specifically asked about issues before making a 4-hour journey.
The salesman also initially struggled to start the car and suggested the battery was dying, which added to an already disappointing experience.
I am writing this review on my 4-hour train journey home because I don’t want another customer making a long journey only to discover significant damage that wasn’t disclosed beforehand.
Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend thoroughly inspecting the vehicle and getting any known damage confirmed in writing before travelling a significant distance.
REPLY TO FALSE STATEMENTS -
A lot of what has been stated in this response is simply not an accurate account of what happened. I would therefore ask the dealership to provide evidence to support the claims. the conversations they refer to, the suggestion that I was a car dealer, and the claim that a five-minute walk-around video was provided when the video I received was under three minutes. Doesn’t change the fact your salesman was aware of damage and didn’t tell me untill I picked up on it.
I have retained the relevant messages and evidence and am happy for the facts to speak for themselves. If the dealership can substantiate these claims, they are welcome to provide the evidence. If they cannot, I’ll leave it to anyone reading this to decide which account is more credible. I would add screenshots if this platform would let me as I still have everything on record.
The messages also clearly show your own salesman asking me whether I was “definite on the vehicle and willing to go straight for it today” day before I had even viewed the car. I then simply replied that I was happy to leave a deposit because I was serious about purchasing it. This clearly contradicts the suggestion that I was desperately pushing to leave a deposit. The messages speak for themselves.
I’ve noticed a clear pattern in the dealership’s responses to negative reviews — rather than accepting any responsibility, there always seems to be an attempt to shift the blame back onto the customer. At this point, it’s honestly becoming a joke.
What’s even more disappointing is that you didn’t have the courtesy to properly address my concerns when I was there, yet you now have plenty to say publicly in response to my review. That speaks volumes.
I wish you all the best with selling cars, but the dishonesty and lack of professionalism throughout my experience have been extremely disappointing.

I recently bought a car from Your Best Car and found the whole process straightforward and hassle free. Jack was friendly, helpful and efficient throughout, even calling beforehand to confirm I was still attending the viewing.
The HPI check showed outstanding finance, which was initially concerning, but I was promptly given written confirmation that this would be cleared upon purchase, which gave me the reassurance I needed.
Overall, it was a smooth experience and the car has been great to drive. Very happy with my purchase.

I would just like to clarify a few…
I would just like to clarify a few points in your response, as I don’t feel it accurately reflects what happened.
Firstly, this was not a puncture or a conventional blowout. The tyre failed around its inner edge, where it had deteriorated. Following this, the vehicle was inspected by a tyre specialist who advised us that all four tyres were unsafe and needed to be replaced. Three had significant cracking on their inner faces and the other was perished.
I did not request or choose to replace four otherwise serviceable tyres. We replaced all four because that was the professional advice we were given regarding their condition.
You also mention that the vehicle had a “fresh MOT”. The car had actually undergone two MOTs within the space of a few months — one under the previous owner and another arranged prior to the sale. The earlier MOT recorded tyre advisories, including tyres close to the legal limit. Those tyres were not replaced before the vehicle was sold to us.
The subsequent MOT arranged prior to the sale passed the vehicle without those tyre advisories. Given the earlier MOT history and the condition subsequently identified by the tyre specialist, I do have concerns about how the tyres passed that later MOT without advisories.
I also don’t feel it is fair to describe my email as “rude”. I contacted you to raise what I considered to be a genuine safety concern and to ask for reimbursement of the cost of making the vehicle safe. I also explained that I would leave a review reflecting my experience if we were unable to resolve the matter. That was not intended as a threat.
I also don’t believe speculation about potholes fairly explains the condition identified by the tyre specialist, particularly the cracking and deterioration found across the tyres.
My concern has never been that I experienced a puncture after driving the car for several hundred miles. My concern is that a tyre failed due to deterioration shortly after purchase and, when the vehicle was professionally inspected, we were advised that all four tyres were unsafe.
In my view, the vehicle should not have been supplied to us in that condition, and that is the issue I was asking you to address.

I wanted to take the opportunity to update my previous review and thank Garrett and the team at Your Best Car for the excellent customer service they have provided.
Following a recent issue with the headlight on my vehicle, which occurred after the expiry of the garage’s six-month warranty period, I contacted the team and was extremely impressed by the way the matter was handled. They arranged collection of the car, kept me fully informed throughout the repair and returned the vehicle promptly once the work had been completed, all at no cost to myself.
A special thank you to Garrett, who kept me updated every step of the way. His professionalism, communication and commitment to customer care were greatly appreciated and made the whole process much less stressful.
Whilst issues can occasionally arise with any vehicle, it is how they are dealt with that really matters. I was delighted that, despite the fault occurring outside the garage’s own six-month warranty period, Your Best Car stood by me and resolved the issue quickly and professionally.
Thank you to Garrett and the whole team for your excellent after-sales service. I would have no hesitation in recommending Your Best Car and would happily buy from them again.
