All you so called engineers and builder…

All you so called engineers and builders are utterly useless apparently. It s p easy to set up. I did it by myself in 1 day. A bit of common sense and the job is done. For what it is and the price it has it does the job.

Not impossible at all. Just takes time and effort.

Instructions are difficult to follow in places resulting in us having to undo a few steps. You'll need some strength (and two people) to get some of holes to line up so you can drive a screw in. Overall, though, not impossible to put up (as some reviews on here say). It just takes a bit of effort and some time. Me and the wife had it sorted in a weekend.

Save yourselves distress and Do NOT buy a YardmasterMetal Shed!!!

Purchasing a 'Yardmaster Metal Shed' was the Biggest Mistake I EVER made, and I wish I had NEVER heard of them! If only I had researched this shed fully, I would NEVER have bought it in the first place. The metal is very thin and flimsy and the screws are so 'soft' that it you had to take great care NOT to 'round' them off. Once the shed was errected, I became even more distressed because the shed 'leaked' so much, whenever it rained, that we had to use buckets to catch the water. We waited for the shed to dry and then we tried to make the shed rain-proof by using various sealants, and foams, but STILL the shed leaked! We even bought Wickes 'High Performance Acrylic Waterproofer 4L £47' and my husband painted the whole of the roof with this stuff and STILL there were leaks! I even wrote to the company for help but they were not very helpful. It is my recommendation that ALL metal sheds come with a Warning, so that future customers be aware that in hot weather these sheds become extremely hot and dangerous to the touch, and that the walls 'sweat' in the cold, because had I known all of this I would NEVER have bought a metal shed in the first place! Nothing has Ever given us so much distress (I was in tears everytime I looked at the Yardmaster Metal shed, and heartache as this horrible shed and I wish I had NEVER heard of Yardmaster. :(

Yardmaster 8x4 pent roof shed

Yardmaster 8x4 pent roof shed. Absolutely useless instructions unless you are half Chinese and half Astro physicist ... the roof frame does not match the instructions and holes are drilled incorrectly. Roof panels don’t fit the frame either. Absolutely a waste of time and money. Even built a concrete base to the required dimensions. Please DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Cheap shed badly built, hard to build…

Cheap shed that seemed value for money but so far it’s taken 2 days to put together with 2 of us and only halfway through.. very hard to match the holes and not built very well. IKEA need to build this shed and it would be much better and easier!!

Dissapointed !!

I bought the 10x8 shed and it took my partner and son nearly two days to put it up . The instructions were useless. It started off with the base then jumped to the back of the book for the next steps then back to the start of the book for the next step ... there were too many bags of screws we didn't use and not enough of the ones we needed and i had to buy extra nuts and bolts . Once the dreaded roof was on we could see daylight through it and there were gaps round the bottom of the base. Needless to say after all this rain the last few days i now have an indoor pool !!!
Would i reccomend this shed ? No.
Theres dints in it,gaps in it and my partner has lost pints of blood after constantly cutting himself on the rezor sharpe edges... my partner is a roofer and used to construction but this was his worse nightmare ..

Great shed for the money.

You get what you pay for. £400 or so for a 10' x 6' shed with the head clearance of the yardmaster is a bargain.

Yes its a bit fiddly to put together at times but not the end of the world if you have some common sense about you. Make sure you square it all up and the panels do line up (mostly). I think i drilled about 8 holes in total which is not a lot given how many fixings you have to use.

As for fixings, i bought some M4 bolts and flange nuts in place of using the self tappers. The self tappers on such thin metal is not great for longevity or security.

It has hammered down with rain for two weeks and i have had just a few drops in there.

For the money it is outstanding. Even had it cost more, it is good value and I certainly didn't find the same problems others did. My kids at 13 and 16 helped and they were ok with the instructions.

Bought the 6 x 4 Pent storage unit

Bought the 6 x 4 Pent storage unit. This unit needs at a minimum 2 people to assemble and when it comes to putting on the roof a 3rd person is a distinct advantage. You are provided plenty of parts so little chance of running out. The instructions however are a wonder to behold. You get very detailed instructions but the order you get them seems to be very random. Get someone to rewrite the instuctions in a straightforward step 1, step 2 way would bring up the star rating to a 5

Yup. Utterly (rhymes with 'tight')

Yup. It's all true. What a rubbish piece of kit, felt like such a donkey when my brother and I were assembling an 8x6. Sounds like we got off lightly at 7 hours assembly, but everything here is totally true. The instructions are as described her.
Does it leak? Of course it does. Are the walls thin? Of course they are. Do the screws easily strip? Of course they do. Do yourself a favour and buy a wooden one, and make note of this. My brother said "Next time, I'll pay you to buy a wooden one".

AVOID!!

The 6x5 is actually smaller, and took 2 DAYS to assemble, you need to love screwdrivers, two people and great sensitivity is required as the fixings are easy to overtighten and then they fail. The main problem is it is not waterproof, water runs in at both the front corners and I have spent another day drilling, mastic applying and snaggling. You cannot lean anything against the walls it is too flimsy, so have to build a timber frame inside to lay/hang tools on. Oh and you need the raised floor to keep stuff dry. Spend twice as much and get a decent timber shed it will still last 25 years if its made and installed properly and be useful out of the box.

This is my second Yardmaster shed

This is my second Yardmaster shed. The first, supposedly 6 x 4 was actually about 5.1/2 feet by 3 ft 3 inches inside, the dimensions they give are the roof overhang. It went up easily enough in 1.1/2 days with my son helping although the plans were drawn incorrectly with some of the flanges drawn on the wrong side. We decided to get a bigger one 8 x 6. This where the trouble started. It arrived quickly from Argos. I'm a retired engineer and my son has a science degree so we're both reasonably capable. It took 1 day to assemble the roof from plans which were rather ambiguous in places, especially which screws to put in and which go in later. We assembled the base the next day and bolted it down. The next stage is to attach the 10 or so uprights. Unlike the drawing, when attached at the bottom they just bent and fall over. With some difficulty we attached all the sheet metal panels, but even then they just flop about and the back leaned outwards at 45 degrees. I had to cut and make angle battens for all the sides just to keep them straight enough to lower the roof on.. This operation took 5 of us, just to line up the uprights with the holes in the roof while we lowered it down. This is also where we found we had to remove screws we had previously put in according to the plans and put others in that should have been put in first. All in all it took 4.1/2 days. The parts were badly formed and all the right-angles had opened out to 120 or more degrees. The Roof framing channel was very poorly formed and was round in section and not angled. This made putting the roof on difficult and I had to drill all new holes and attach it with nuts and bolts. The doors went on easily; they were same as previous shed. When finished the shed looks very nice, but it is totally misleading to say assemble by 2 people in a day. If you're prepared to drill and fit screws where necessary, spend almost a week building it and have friendly neighbours to lend a hand, then buy one, but I think the designer should be sentenced to 6 months assembling these and then be required to make alterations to the parts and the instructions.

I too wish I had read the reviews…

I too wish I had read the reviews here!!!
The experience lets go though step by step:
I have bought a 13x10 I think 3.9 x 2.9. The instructions say 6hrs for 2 people wrong 10hrs before modifications which will be another 3hrs. The instructions, what an ambiguous hopeful set of pictures !!! I am an engineer who works with construction drawings and machine drawings and these were hard work, I got very frustrated.
The steel sheets, mine have horizontal cross bow difficult to determine if its shape from steel manufacture or press shape either way the sheets bow in the wrong direct and let water penetrate on the overlaps.
The framework, like others have stated once you add a screw do not remove it as its game over and to be honest 1st application is game over.
My roof leaks due to poor torque because the screws spin out when tightened and the shape on the overlaps. I am going to remove the roof and refit using Tek fixings and sealant on every length and hole. £575 this experience has cost me!!!! before modifications.
My biggest gripe and if you take nothing else away, the panels are screwed from the outside, even the dumbest of thieves could remove the screws, remove a panel and walk away your contents, something else I need to address. If yardmaster want to contact me and make good and learn from my engineering experience then i'm all ears, i wont lose any sleep waiting for a response i dare say.

Worst product ever bought, robbed of money

Wish I had read this before purchasing the most expensive long awaited.
( several months) piece or should I say several pieces of metal that don’t fit together. Customer service, well several emails between my son and Pauline, these abruptly stopped once order number given. Still awaiting phone call from the expert dept to assist . DO NOT BUY the 6x 4 metal shed. Hole not aligned, useless, yardmaster are thieves. No communication, product not fit for purpose. Considering contacting trading standards as people will buy and be in the same boat, shed less and penniless. Shame on you yardmaster.

Metal 10'x6' shed worthless scrap metal!

don't want to waste too much time here, as I've wasted enough on literally the worst designed and engineered piece of rubbish I've ever seen, what a waste of time and money. The metal 10'x6' is so badly designed it begs believe! I've got the shed up and it looks ok, but I fixed it pretty much all with self-tapping screws and nuts and bolts just to hold it together, (the supplied screws are worthless and don't fix properly...4mm; after you've had to take them out twice to fix different bits the holes are too big....these are instructed to hold the roof down, hahaha...no chance). Fixings were missing.....good job as their useless anyway......what idiot designed this? I used proper tek roofing screws to sort it out in the end! Absolutely shocking, please, please don't waste your money and more importantly your sanity on this worthless piece of rubbish.

Yardmaster 8x6

The build quality is really not good and the design isn't great either. Both make for an unpleasant experience putting it together. But it is now up and looks reasonably solid. It hasn't seen rain yet and, judging by the amount of light coming through the roof, I may need some sealant. Would I buy another one? No, I would take more time to look around for better quality, which shouldn't be difficult. Its only 8x6 but it took me 2 weekends plus a bit and at some point you will need help. Even the delivery was not a smooth affair. Shockingly poor from "Europe's Top Manufacturer".

Not happy with the experience…

Not happy with the whole experience with yardmaster. Ordered a shed which took more than 2 months to be delivered. It was delivered with several nuts and door runners missing. I contacted them about this and they have spent the last more than 2 months saying they are working on it. So fruatrated with Yardmaster
