Reply from Wickes - Chorley
We purchased a fully fitted kitchen from Wickes in October 2024, with installation scheduled for 3rd February 2025. The total cost was significant, including £3,368 for installation, which was a dry fit only—it did not include removal of the old kitchen, flooring, tiling, plumbing, or electrical work. The fitter was only responsible for fitting the units, worktops, and appliances, yet still managed to rush the job in just 2.5 days instead of the allocated 5 days, leaving us with an unacceptable finish.
Once they left, it became clear why they were in such a hurry. Four of the worktop cuts were poor, two drawer fronts were damaged, and the entire site was left in an appalling state. Our brand-new range cooker was covered in dirt and grease, the fridge and freezer had black handprints inside, every cabinet handle was filthy, the floor was left uncleaned, and all finishing trims still had visible pencil markings. There was absolutely no care taken to clean up or leave the kitchen in a presentable condition.
On Tuesday, 4th February, despite a third of the kitchen still needing to be installed, the fitter prematurely marked the job as complete to avoid a scheduled site visit from the area manager, even admitting, “I don’t want the area manager sniffing around while I’m trying to finish it off.” It was clear he knew the work wouldn’t hold up to scrutiny. On the final day, only two workers remained, rushing to finish before leaving in a hurry. In hindsight, we strongly believe the fitter had double-booked another job for the same period and had no intention of staying the full five days, which explains the rushed and careless finish.
After seeing the poor workmanship, I complained to Wickes on 6th February, and they confirmed that fitters are required to clean the site, remove pencil markings, and leave the kitchen in a presentable state, none of which was done. The area manager visited on 10th February, agreed the work was rushed, and confirmed that the fitter had lied to him on 4th February by claiming he couldn’t provide photos of the "completed job" because his phone was broken—when in reality, he simply couldn’t show proof of a finished kitchen that didn’t exist.
To make matters worse, after I complained to Wickes, the fitter called me directly on 8th February, falsely claiming the area manager had told him to come and fix the issues on Saturday. When the area manager arrived on Monday, he confirmed that he never instructed the fitter to call me, proving the fitter was continuing to deceive both us and Wickes to cover up his subpar work.
Despite all of this, Wickes refused to assign a new fitter, stating that their contract required them to offer the original fitter the first chance to correct his own mistakes. This makes no sense when the fitter had already lied multiple times, rushed the job, and deliberately avoided inspection. If anyone had broken their contract, it was him—yet Wickes chose to hide behind their agreement instead of prioritizing customer satisfaction.
Given the dishonesty and poor workmanship, we refused to allow him back into our home. We requested an alternative contractor on 12th February, yet as of today, Wickes have failed to respond, despite replacement parts already arriving.
This kitchen was meant to be a dream investment in our forever home, but the experience has been nothing short of frustrating and deflating. Spending over £3,300 on a dry fit alone, which equates to a day rate of £1347.20 for the time the fitters were at the property, should have guaranteed quality service, yet we were left with a rushed, dirty, and unfinished kitchen. Worse still, Wickes’ response has been slow, dismissive, and more focused on protecting their contract with the fitter than making things right for their customer.
For such a large company, we expected better. At this point, we cannot recommend Wickes for kitchen installations and urge others to think twice before trusting them with a project of this scale.

My parents ordered a kitchen from the Chorley store in September 2024, work commenced on 2nd October 2024 and is still NOT COMPLETED as of today 26th January 2025. Customer service we’re supposed to be chasing this up but have still not got back to my elderly parents, which has resulted in me having to intervene. Staff in store very unhelpful!!! Wickes very quick to take your money but the after care appalling!!!
I would very much appreciate if somebody could get in touch with me ASAP.

Spoke with 3 companies but Chris who looked after us was a standout from everyone
He was a very knowledgeable patient and above all he cared about what I wanted .
He wasn’t pushy but gave me ideas and eventually we got to the conclusion
Wickes are very lucky to have a member is staff who really cares about the customer, customer service in most industries now seems to be a thing of the past,
Thank you Christ

Totally ignored from start to nearly finish - had to get a fitter of our own to complete for Xmas .
False delivery dates . Wrong items . Ignored . Damaged items . The list is endless . I want a senior manager to contact us asap please , Josh has our emails with all issues , we signed them job off but spoke to the credit company and advised them to hold funds and not release until we are satisfied.
I cannot believe the customer service representative Alisdair ignored us for two weeks - yet asked our fitter for updates on how the job was going , our fitter didn’t even reply back to Alisdair in the end as he was caught in the middle and as frustrated as us as he wanted and needed to complete the job , I’ve never in 45 years had such bad service from a company - absolutely disaster using Wickes DISASTER .
I can’t get my head around how your still getting new business ?
Literally every single thing was wrong !! I’m pretty much lost for words on this and the email we have sent with every issue does not read nor reflect very well , I’m having to leave this review in Hope Someone does get back to us - please don’t blame Xmas . This was going on all of December and we pleaded for an email or call ——- still nothing !

We are very happy with the work that has been done to our bathroom. I’d highly recommend having your bathroom done by Wickes. In particular D Tiled bathrooms who were if nothing but spectacular. Our bathroom was a hot mess and they brought it to the 21st century. They were thorough and very clean. I thought I’d need to clean up after they left but they left my house so neat and tidy after they were done. If I had ten bathrooms I’d definitely request that they do it!
