I’ve been purchasing items from WELLERS for approx last 9 months, and on a frequent basis for the last 7.
When buying Descriptions are vague. Little information to go on. But I understand when they are selling thousands of items a week, at low value, there isn’t much time to write anything more. On a couple of occasions, I’ve bought items described as new (shoes) but clearly used when picked up. Dirt ingrained into the base of the shoe, sort of gives it away!
My problem isn’t with the purchasing but the process after the auction. You are asked to make an appointment. When you arrive for your appointment slot, it is very rarely ready. The girls at the reception desk, often look under pressure and harassed and are trying to catch up with picking orders out. When you are given your order , you are asked to sign for it.
On three times, in the last month I have been missing items when I’ve got home . This week I collected items on Monday, one of which was purchased on Thursday last week. When I got home, I didn’t have it. I don’t wish to check every time when stood in the reception area and other people are waiting. Not only does it look like I don’t trust the staff, but it’s not very nice holding other customers up.
I’ve phoned. The phone doesn’t get answered EVER. I’ve emailed and told them I’m missing items - no response. In the last month, I’m £45.00 out of pocket .
I’d like to continue purchasing from WELLERS but can’t afford to be out of pocket.
I wish I had read the reviews prior to winning on my bid. Never again bidding with this company.
Firstly I tried calling them and left a message for someone to call me. Their answer phone message says an agent will call back in 24 hours but no call back, that was over a week ago.
I have tried calling numerous times but only ever get the answer phone.
Tried emailing but again no joy with a response.
The item I bought was advertised as New. Having received the item it doesn’t look new, had long hair on the inside the jacket and a broach attached on the outside. Very disappointed TBH.
As they do not arrange delivery themselves, they recommend a local company that will go in, collect the item, pack it and then ship via in my case DHL. Sounds ok and I expected to pay a premium for this service. NOTE though, the minimum charge is £32 and depends on weight and size of the item. My winning lot was a jacket that fitted into a box apron 30cm x 20. My charge was. £37 for this lightweight parcel. It did make me wonder if this company is a subsidiary of Wellers. Cynical me.
Interestingly most of the reviews I have now read have a reply from Weller mostly singed as “from the Weller team”. It says a lot when they aren’t prepared to put their name to their response.
From a disappointed client !

Worst company to deal with no access to a customer service representative and you are more likely to have your name and reputation destroyed on easy live.just avoid this auction house they don't deserve anyone's hard earned money

ONE AUCTION TO DEFINITELY AVOID…my first experience at buying from this auction (after being an auction buyer for over 10 years) and will most certainly be my last. Not sure where to start with the negatives but in a quick summary;
- Do not pack and post - very inflexible
- you have to book a collection in order to collect your items (we are not in covid times anymore and this is extremely inconvenient)
- even when you book a slot you cannot get one, advised to book a slot before the auction just incase you win something?
- excessive charges, there’s Vat and vat on vat and premium vat.. more charges than any other auction
- bought some designer clothing, all of which was faulty / not as described yet sold as seen (even though they’re online)
- after much debate, they agreed to pack my items for me - then left half of my shipment out of the parcel and told me to book another collection, thus paying twice for their mistake
I honestly couldn’t be more upset with this whole experience, £600 down the drain!
Please don’t make the same mistake again- unless you live in Guildford, I would highly recommend bidding elsewhere!
Shambolic Auction

I wish to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional service I recently received from Wellers Auctions Ltd, particularly from Jo, your secretary. Having recently been discharged from hospital following a serious medical condition, I was unable to collect the items I had won at auction.
Jo demonstrated remarkable understanding and sympathy towards my situation. Despite it not being a standard service offered by Wellers Auctions Ltd, she went above and beyond to ensure my won lots were expediently packed and dispatched to me. This level of care and consideration truly meant a great deal during a challenging time. My heartfelt thanks to Jo and the entire team for your professionalism and compassionate support.

Wellers auctions provided me with a full refund and I had missed their previous communication. Andy and Jo were very helpful and I can confirm that a full refund has been received. That is first class for understanding the problem. They can’t possibly know the condition of every item up for sale.

((((( Bidder : 40085 )))))Guildford office, i have very bad experience. I spend lots of money on their products, when the auction finish they send you the invoice straightaway and you have limited time to pay it ( BUT ) when it comes to a refund no one answer the phone or the email , i been waiting 3 weeks to get my refund back unfortunately I don’t know how to trust this company again . They should be happy to buy their damaged item pay them money to recycling some for their products. I am disappointed why they have this very bad customer service 0 stars is not enough for them , should be minus five stars for them

I bid online for some Sony noise cancelling headphones and won the item. I arranged to pick up the headphones up on 5/2/25 from Wellers Guildford site. When I got home and opened the box it did not contain noise cancelling headphones, instead contained standard non noise cancelling headphones phones. I tried to phone but Wellers don’t answer the phone merely invite you to email or leave a voicemail I left a message and emailed explaining that the headphones were not the advertised model and were in fact a wrong much inferior model. They replied promptly and asked me to return the phones for a refund which I did on 5/2/25 I was advised that refunds take 7-10 working days. After this time I mailed and voice mailed asking when the monies were going to be returned but received
no reply I mailed and voice mailed again still no reply. This seems like a deliberate ploy to avoid refunding the money.
Beware !!
Update - Posting the events on Trustpilot has got more action out of Wellers than phoning, voice and emails direct did and I have now had the money refunded.

Satisfied Customer
Bought a couple of lots from Wellers. Smooth transaction- bid, win, pay & collect. Good communication to setup collection from their Dartford branch, which was easy and efficient. Items were as per description and pictures.

Wellers have been a wonderful service to me on several occasions over the years, initially when seeking advice on clients antiques I was restoring plus moving on my own family antiquities.
Then later moving home a couple of times realised Wellers also sell on general household items which saved me a huge amount of time and effort clearing unwanted items, they make it all so easy, fill your car and simply unload everything at a pre arranged time and they take care or the whole process from sale to commission and final payment, it meant I could get on with other important life tasks. They will always suggest a reserve price with options to resell at a later stage or indeed return unsold items, frankly everything I’ve ever put for auction sold first time every time! …..

Please be advice when you are buying from them there is 40% in taxes
There is 10% in final after auction end
There is 19.99 % in taxes after that
There is 10% in taxes in final
So the taxes you pay is 40% on the final
So don’t put the price up otherwise it will be just like new

Appalling. Won lots on an auction at Christmas. Told could collect pn 8th January yet no one would answer phones to confirm this. Turned up to collect on the 8th only to be told by the storage company that this was not possible as lots hadn't been unpacked and Wellers had auctioned them too early. What a total sham and Wellers avoiding calls from customers

I have used Wellers for over two years, and on the whole have received fairly good service.
However when bidding in a timed auction and being on-line at the end of the auction to ensure I could increase my bid if necessary, my maximum being £42. When the bidding timed out it showed a hammer price of £20.50 and me winning the bid. However when going into my account it stated I lost the bid with the winning bid being £44.
How can a hammer price increase from £20.50 to £44 !! There is obviously some sharp practice being used !!
This auction house is not to be trusted !!

The process for registering and bidding on items was good. This was the 2nd time I bought from Wellers. 1st item was an inflatable which had a puncture and most recent item was a laptop which doesn't power so the money I spent was wasted - I have reported this and awaiting outcome. Having to collect only on a week day and within a pre-arranged time slot was inconvenient and quite off-putting if you are not local like myself. I had to get a friend to pick up the latest item - I do hope that I get a refund...

Traditional auction house operation but all general auctions are online only, so you are wholly dependent on the photo they put up of the item for sale.
Descriptions are concise but do flag the main points (or problems) on items.
Many items are "bag of" and so they can be pot luck as contents do not show well in the photo. Better suited to market stall traders looking for stock rather than individuals hunting bargains.
Collection process is slick, but time slots are tight and T&Cs are unfavourable if you miss it.
Lack of free parking for collections is the major problem and is what stops me giving them 5 stars.

Great Auction House,
Quite exciting to participate in live
Online.
However, Only 2 stars from me as I work for a living, and the collection slots are not convenient at all .
So I no longer participate.
Please can you set up some later slots through the week and a Saturday one also for people who work regular hours.
As at the moment I feel as though it is quite exclusive.

Interesting items. Extensive number of auctions available. Usually plenty of notice giving time to peruse each auction

Love the quality of the Auction.
Hate the cost of shipping which makes purchasing disproportionately expensive. As a small time vintage hobbyist trader,I cannot buy from you anymore.
However tempting.
