About Vets Now
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

I called them at 1 am and my dog was admitted 45 minutes lare
I found the staff and the vet very supportive and friendly putting me at ease.
My dog was kept overnight with suspected poisoning and was very well looked after
I was called later to be asked if they could give her some sedation as she was becoming anxious, the nurse stayed with my dogs head on her lap to relax her
I was later called to see if I thought, when their shift ended, if I thought it better that she stayed where she was
I agreed to this and I colected my dog at midday at no extra charge.
This experience, although very worrying, was made so much easier by these people
I wouldn't hesitate to contact them again
Thank you so much

Very happy with the care and attention…
Very happy with the care and attention that my pet received, I couldn't have asked for more.
The reason for the missing star? The fees are extremely expensive. Consultation £313.50, and a further £170.49 for medication and an admin fee for the insurance claim. A bit steep & you are in a bit of a no choice situation when you have a poorly pet. I do feel as though they take advantage of your situation.
I appreciate it is going you cost more, as this is emergency care, but come on around £600 and hour is what it works out as.

Wrong advice for £315.00 update
I had to bring my dog her on Saturday night as my dog had issues with her back legs. I was very worried but the vet said she had a slipped disc, and suggested compleat rest and paracetamol. Told me he didn't think she was at the stage where she may need surgery. Less than two days later my poor dog is having emergency surgery on her back after instantly being referred to the surgeon by our own vet. I paid £350 for incorrect advice and will.be following up with the practice. UPDATE ON COMPLAINT (OCTOBER). After raising a detailed complaint to Vets Now, I was told this will be looked into and take 35 working days. After 35 working days I contacted them and was told it was taking longer than expected. The eventually came back to me with the findings. They listed a history of the case and said this issue is well know in this breed. No mention of the vet saying Mabel was nowhere near needing surgery. I emailed back and advised that I was not happy with the outcome of the review as it has not addressed my complaint. They said it will be reviewed again and I will be contacted. After the review date I contacted them again to find out more details. They said it was taking longer than expected. Eventually I received thir findings and again they listed a history of case, and again failed to address the reason behind my complaint. On contacting them yet again, to say they had not addressed my complaint. I was told " we have nothing further to add to our previous correspondence", then given the details of the Veterinary Client Mediation Service. I AM STILL NOT HAPPY WITH THEIR FINDINGS BUT I HAVE HAD ENOUGH BANGING MY HEAD AGAINST THE WALL, TRYING TO GET AN EXPLANATION OF THE VETS COMMENTS. I SHALL BE AVOIDING THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS AND WOULD ADVISE ANYONE WHO ASKED ME TO RECOMMEND A GOOD VET, IT WOULD CERTAINLY NOT BE Vets Now.

Friendly, helpful staff but high costs
The vets and staff are friendly and helpful. There was a backlog of clients awaiting help which wasn't good and we had to wait a considerable time when time was of the essence. The costs are unreasonably high - according to our insurers who set a very reasonable limit on what they will pay out - and these two items are what reduces my rating from what would otherwise be five star for this particular visit.

Quick appointment but vet misdiagnosed
Although the team were quick and able to see them right away, the vet did not examine them enough and misdiagnosed, causing more damage via the treatment, which was stopped 12 hours afterwards and got a proper diagnosis from their regular vet the morning after.

Excellent pet care
They took my dog off me straight away and started treating her as she was in a really bad way. They settled her and then came to talk to me. They explained everything and even the cost. Ultimately they saved her life.

There in our night of need
I had to use this place Sunday evening for my baby boy, he was so poorly. They admitted him and tried absolutely everything. Henry and Fiona tried everything for my puppy even though he didn't make it. I'm so very grateful to them for all they tried for my boy

Urgent Cat Care
Our cat had sadly been in the wars with another cat. She was in shock and so were we not knowing what to do late at night. Googled late night vet’s and was relived to find this place open, with a kind person on the phone who sympathetically listened. They advised how to help find us including a text with links to the address. Great service.
The care for our cat was lovely and supportive. They seemed professional and put our minds at ease knowing pain relief was given and antibiotics precautionary given. It’s was distressing to see a cat in shock panting etc. but again this was all put at ease knowing it was normal and to be expected. But that the two types of pain killers would help.
Thanks team.

Very compassionate
We had to take our puppy who unfortunately had hydrocephalus and suffer an embolism. The emergency vet couldn’t save her but was incredibly compassionate and made saying Goodbye as bearable as possible. The staff were so comforting and handled the cremation request, even taking paw prints and fur cutting. It was an incredibly upsetting experience but they helped comfort us and were incredibly kind. Highly compassionate team and very professional.
