Looking at 351 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many consumers report facing consistent issues with the service, feeling they are constantly being denied coverage or receiving conflicting information regarding their benefits. People frequently struggle with payment and pricing, indicating a general sense that the company prioritizes financial gain over client needs. However, some customers also noted instances of extremely positive interactions with specific staff members, who were described as professional and compassionate. Conversely, a small portion of people felt significant challenges related to customer service, such as difficulty reaching a human representative or encountering communication difficulties with staff.

Ai answers phone. Foreign phone rep non english

Ai answers phone & does not recognize your birthdate when it asks for it, then it hangs up.
When I was able to get past birthdate, I get a heavy foreign accent. I always ask what country they are in. They hesitate & don't seem to want to tell me. I persist. So reps are in India, Phillipines, Pakistan. I say I want a rep in the USA. They says they cannot transfer me.
Ridiculous. Cant even understand their heavy accent then they know NOTHING about American healthcare & never have answer to my question. Will be switching company come Jan 1st

Got a almost $300 charge for an annual…

Got a almost $300 charge for an annual routine blood exam, doctor recommended by their app, I paid over 10k in health insurance to be paying that much for a simple annual blood test, they almost got me paying $380 copay for a simple video call follow up that it would be 10 min, luckily I got to cancel, I spent 6 hours calling the insurance company and it was never solved or justified, if you have them do yourself a favor and cancel it immediately.

If I could give a rating of no stars...

If I could rate UHC with no stars, I would. I have been attempting to get proof of my premium payments for the previous calendar year (January through December). I have contacted Customer Service on 3 occasions and told that my request would be expedited. I have heard nothing from them regarding my requests. It has been over a month since my initial request. I was told that I would receive the information by mail in 7 to 10 calendar days because their "system" will not let the customer service rep or customers access premium payments for longer than the previous 12 months, which does me absolutely no good since it's May 2026 and I need the proof from then entire year of 2025. I am extremely frustrated and have been unable to find any method to file a formal complaint with UHC since I do not live in California (only grievance "form" I can find is for UHC California). Calling and chatting with UHC has been absolutely no help, even when it comes to filing a grievance. I will not be getting coverage through UHC next year and absolutely will not be recommending them to anyone else.

UHC has moved its customer service…

UHC has moved its customer service operation to the Phillipines. They have not trained the staff and twice I received incorrect information. It is a cost saving move for UHC but a nightmare for its subscribers. If it is an important question I call twice to compare answers and hope that both are not wrong. It is also hard to understand them given the heavy accent so we do spend quite a bit of time repeating or spelling words.

Two issues today (5/20/26) and yesterday

5-20-26 Nurse for "housecall" failed to show up during the two hour timeslot, and related things went sideways earlier in the morning as I attempted to confirm (eg, the nurse left a phone number for me to call to confirm, but the voicemail hadn't been set up, forcing me to waste an hour trying to reach someone at UHC to call to confirm). I had been barraged with calls from UHC encouraging me to set up this "housecall" appointment.

5-19-26 - I called UHC to complain about being barraged by calls from people purporting to be from UHC, asking me personal questions (name/date of birth) without adequately identifying themselves or asking if they were calling at a good time, and then reading (poorly) from a script. In the last two weeks, I probably received six or seven unwelcome/unrequested calls such as these.

UHC Medicare Advantage is actually better than it used to be, but they have a long road ahead of them to provide better customer service. Unfortunately or fortunately, in my area, their plan is better for me than other available plans, so I've stuck with them for a few years.

United Healthcare are Sleeze Bags

This Company is the worst. Had them for 18 months after retiring. they were pretty good. Then they dropped my health care provider in January 2026 after the window to shop/pick a new insurer. No notification letter, phone call, Email etc. Today 5/16/26 I got a notification in the mail that they are dropping my General Practitioner as of 7/1/26. How can insurer do this. They should be sued for false advertising. I checked back in November before the dead line in December and both My Hospital and General Physician were on their list as approved. No they have taken both off the approved list middle of the policy in the middle of the policy year. I signed/agreed to what they advertised on them web site and now they have broken that agreement. No wonder their CEO got shot. Sleeze bags.

Gets really expensive!!!

While our UHC supplement does cover what Medicare doesn't, it gets really expensive over the years. My husband has had this insurance for 12 years and I have had it for almost 8 years and the rate increases every year. This year the rate increased by 15%! Together, we are paying around $850/month and, of course, $405/month for Medicare. We have to buy dental, eye care and prescription insurance separately!

United no longer is in network with lvhn

United no longer is in network with lehigh valley health network. All my doctors are affiliated with lvhn. Now I have to find all new doctors. Im being treated for various issues including cancer. The only health network anywhere near me that takes United has terrible reviews. 2-5 hours average wait times. Affiliated with a dying hospital that is struggling to stay open. I have a feeling my care is going to plumit. I cant even find an oncologist to accept me. So its either pay out of pocket and take a second mortgage or travel 2+ hours to other in network doctors. I worked for nyc civil service for 25 years, paid into the pension programs and now I basically have no insurance. I am probably better off getting my own bare bones insurance. Horrible, horrible company that cares more about bonuses than their customers

United healthcare,sucks, go elsewhere

Absolutely incredible. United healthcare sucks money every way they can, and screw us. My medicare rate went up, my benefits went down. I have a prescription drug plan. They didn't let me know that they were taking my 40.00 a quarter for health aids away, and replaced it with a better plan for them!! Now, I get 25.00 a quarter, my girlfriend gets 67.00 a quarter from Molina healthcare!!! I don't get any prescriptions but Prednisone. I have a condition called polymyalgia, I don't take it only when I feel the flare up coming on. It is only 22.00. yes 22.00. they wouldn't pay for it, because they think I take it once a day!!! 22.00 freaking dollars!!!!!?????? Next year I will go to a different provider. The guy who signed me up, several years ago, put a doctor on my ucard, I never heard of. I've tried over and over to change that doctors name, but the people at the other end, must be from China, English please!

My husband died and they refused to pay…

My husband died and they refused to pay the final bill. I hired an atty and won my case costing THEM the 10x what it would have cost to pay what they legally owed. Classic Deny, Delay Defend. My husband DIED OF CANCER They dont care. Unless you can afford a retainer to hire a lawyer, they will always win. The worst of the worst. On every single level.

Inattentive and unresponsive

My mother is hassled every time she checks in at a doctor's office because the card that demonstrates her insurance coverage is dated 2023. Phone calls to try to get a card, dated with the current year, are a pointless frustration. The customer service ph number on the back of her card connects the caller to a sales center for emergency alert pendant sales, not to customer service for United Health. Calling the number on the back of the card for "Pharmacy" connects to United Health, but they cannot provide a card. No wonder Manggione raised over a million in donations for his defense. We get his frustration, even though we disapprove of his actions and we too wish there was health care, worthy of the title, available to people like my mother.

Worst & most expensive coverage I've ever had

Any of the doctors, clinics, or hospitals we use in our area are out of network. We have no choice but to use UHC as they our are employer sponsorred plan. They still somehow manage to be both the most expensive health insurance we've ever had & the worst at the same time. They auto deny every claim & make you & your provider jump thru hoops. I had to switch dentists because mine refused to waste their time dealing with them & said even once they get approval they still only pay half the time
