Worst customer service I've ever…
Worst customer service I've ever experienced. I reported a fraudulent charge as soon as it occurred, provided documentation proving the fraud, and even had another credit card company involved in the same transaction approve my chargeback. Despite the evidence, my claim was denied with little explanation beyond repeated canned responses.
They showed no real interest in investigating the case or helping a long-time customer. After this experience, their 1.2-star overall rating makes perfect sense.
Mortgage Reps
I received a pre-qualification for a mortgage when I tried to put an offer on house, I found out it was incorrect by $20,000 that's huge. I had 2 different mortgage reps the first one transferred me to a second one and neither return calls or answer questions. Buying a home is stressful enough without dealing with this place.
Find another bank to get a mortgage from.
Truist bank is a sly scammer
Truist bank virtually robbed me of thousands of my dollars & I never got it back. They are the biggest scammers of anybody. They had a breach in their data system but that wasn't my fault. But anyway Truist did rob me of lot of my money
Lousy bank
Drove to my local branch to find out it was closed for upgrades. Since when does a bank have to close to upgrade? The ATM was even closed and the night depository. When I called the 800# and was asked for the last of my SS# they couldn’t find me. Finally got ahold of a person and was told the branch would open at 1pm. There was no sign on the bank to that opening. Gas is expensive and to have to drive back again is ridiculous. Ever since SunTrust merged with BBT everything has gone downhill. Need to close all my accounts and move to another bank!
International business nightmares
I started banking with truist over a year ago for my logistics business. Due to a false arrest I had to change my business model. In the process I started receiving zelle payments and for whatever reason they shut my zelle down with no explanation! They were rude and treated me like a scammer because my business partner is in Pakistan I guess. Who knows!? Anyway if you do international business with them consider this a warning to find a better bank to deal with because I explained my false arrest and why I had to switch business models to save my company and they didn't give a damn. They only care about their processes and procedures, not ppl with livelihoods to keep up.
I have been holding a business account…
I have been holding a business account since circa 1996. Suntrust could not be trusted got a class act, Truist is worst. While saving for an eye surgery my account was hacked for circa 14,000 - 16,000. I went to the Forestville location stayed for 6 hours, could not use the restroom we were sent to Starbucks. This case openened a 2 day investigation, and close the case with no refund of savings. I was told I can't file an appeal, that's sick, and now so I'm I. They are very rude. The team mates found it funny. Let's see who get the last laugh I know how to finish, I'm calling my Attorney. Do not trust Truist, they are another lie from SunTrust! I would have given them a zero. I hope Bill is ready. Your team members are they you? I hope not, they represent terribly. Hey an update, I called customer service I was asked for my tax ID, account number and month and year of this account opened date. I provided tax ID and account number my guess to opening was circa March 1996 she stated in sorry you have to go to a local branch. I guess to sit for 6 hours and no restrooms for seniors or other constituents. WOW from worst to worst
Worst bank ever
Worst bank ever. Save yourself time and headaches. You would imagine that the merge would create improvements, but everyone and their mom is loosing here. There are two brain cells and unfortunately, they’re both fighting for third place.
Very difficult to reach a real person with good sense.
Had a fraud alert come up on a large check I had written. VERY HARD to reach a person - then was subject to an extensive inquisition - as if I were a possible culprit. I aborted the process, expressing the view that they had better honor the check. The amount of the check had been deducted from my account. When I FINALLY reached a person, she said the check had been paid to payee the prior day. WHY was I subjected to an inquisition by the fraud squad when they'd already paid the payee. If they were concerned about my safety, one would expect the inquiry to occur BEFORE the check was honored, rather than the day after. This was very disappointing. I may move my business elsewhere.
Based on my review of the plethora listed customer complaints subsequent to mine, I really wonder about the merits of tis entity that makes it difficult to reach a person and then finds that person doesn't have English as a first language. However complex a process, Imay move all my money to an interest bearing account with another entity. Farewell, TRuist
This has to be the worst bank in human…
This has to be the worst bank in human history! Why did I open a credit card. After passing an intellichek verification(scanning the front and back of my ID and a biometric face scan. They later freeze my card for fraud lol on legitimate purchase. I spent 5 hours talking to only God knows who in multiple departments from every country in the world accept the USA. Only to be told I need to drive 2 hours and show. my ID in person at the nearest Truist Branch lol. Needles to say I have a worthless credit card with a high limit that will never, ever be used. It gets better They Refuse to even close the card if I don't make the two hour drive lol ok. They must have never heard of the FDCPA and FCRA!!!
FIND ANOTHER BANK
I was with SunTrust for 15 years before they changed name . This company is thee worse. They do not protect your fraud claims. I literally showed them emails after emails of this one site that took my money after they cancelled my order. I have a email said that they canceled my order and TRUIST denied my claim three times talking about I didn’t cancel within 24 hours, but then the representative told me that the money was out two days after. The email said yes your order has been canceled with Truist is still denied my claim three times. you want a bank with a bank their protection that don’t care about the customer
I have been a customer of this bank for 40 years. Things have changed.
I have been a customer of this bank and it's predecessors for around 40 years. They have served me well for most of those years, therefore I'm not going to childishly lowball them with a one star review. However, things have changed. They frequently keep checks deposited in "administrative hold " for reasons that simply non-existant.
I received a small refund from the IRS in check form. Less than $200. It took over a week to credit this to my account.
I deposited a large check from a family member, and they held funds again, this time as 2 different amounts that equaled the total on the check. It took 4 days to release the first amount, the last 3k is still pending under administrative hold, 8 days after the deposit. The part that makes this even more ridiculous is that they cashed the check from my relative's account 7 days ago, so they have had the funds for a week, there is no question of the validity of the check.
Customer service (India, I think) can't tell me why they are holding my funds.
It has been a pleasure banking with these folks through the United Carolina Bank days, and during the Branch Banking and Trust days, but it looks like it is time to seek a different institution.
I have made final pay off on the loan…
I have made final pay off on the loan last week and the money is still not taken out of my bank account. I tried to log into my account, and it won't let me log in. I called and they have like 20 verification questions, and the lady won't help and she finally transferred to her supervisor. Instead of try to help me with log into my account or what is the reason why I cannot log in she keep asking me the verifications questions again. According to her I did not answer a question correctly, she won't tell me what question I answered incorrect. This is so stupid. They keep arguing rather than help. The lady Kiona, who claims to be a supervisor is so rude and nasty. She won't let me speak to or give me the information about her supervisor. When I looked at the customer reviews and I see all 1s now I understand why. Any way I called back and another lady called Angel answered the phone and she told me that the reason I am unable to log into my account was it is paid off. That is all I was looking for. So simple. It took an act of Congress for someone to tell me that the reason I cannot long in is the account is paid off and they disable the account once paid off. Avoid this stupid bank if you can.
I was a loyal SunTrust customer for…
I was a loyal SunTrust customer for over 10 years and the merger to become Truist was the worst! This company does not value customer loyalty and their customer service has been atrocious. I called about my personal checking account and the agent told me to stop taking this personally and move on. Additionally, they sent notices to an address that wasn’t mine and closed my account. When I pointed out they sent the notices to the wrong address, they acknowledged it, but refused to rectify the situation. I would not recommend opening an account with them!
Truist is awful about customer service
Truist is awful about customer service. I filed a dispute over charges to a merchant that turned out to be fraudulent. I also filed the dispute with Affirm, which I was using for payments. Affirm resolved the dispute in my favor, but Truist continues to block the refund. I have called to fix this several times to no avail and no helpful person to resolve this. It is quite a bit of money as well. Truist is awful!! I could not even speak with the dispute analyst and the people who answer the phone don't know what they are talking about and/or do not understand what I am saying.
Their ATM machines are habitually not…
Their ATM machines are habitually not in service and their inside tellers are horrid. Go elsewhere
Worst bank of 10 banks I currently have.
Now I wanna start this by saying I currently bank with 10 different banks. So I say this so readers know, I know when a bank is working for you or against you.
Chase
Fulton bank
M & T bank
Navy Federal Credit Union
PFCU Philadelphia credit union
Police and fire federal credit union
American Heritage Credit Union
S & T Bank
Stride bank (Chime)
And Truist.
Most of the other banks offered me a line of credit, a regular credit card, not secured, and all of them do not charge fees for a plethora of different service charges ..etc.
This bank steals money from its members, and please do not be a victim of a company stealing your money or deserving a charge back.
If you file a claim against fraudulent and deceptive business practices from a company you bought something from, consider your money GONE! , because Truist will not stand behind you.
If they do, they’ll take like 50 years to get your money back to you, as they investigate, even though you have credible documentation to back up your claims, they will still do nothing.
Out of all 10 banks I have, I’m aware of what banks can and can’t do, but Truist think their members do not know. I’ve had fraud claims with Chase, I get my money back in less than two hours.
Truist and American Heritage are the two worse banks. Both banks never offer anything like credit cards, etc. If they do the requirements are ridiculous, like American Heritage requiring $10,000 to open a compound interest account or its equivalent. They’re (American Heritage) also horrible at getting money back.
Chase don’t charge fees, and they honor veterans, most of these banks don’t.
I am close to closing with them if they allow Frontier to keep my money.
We're getting junk mail like postcards…
We're getting junk mail like postcards from them, and I called to ask to be removed from their mailing list and they said they don't have any way to remove people from their mailing list! I've never heard of a company that refuses to remove you from their mailing list when you request it.
If I could give 0 stars I would
If I could give 0 stars, I would. Truist is by far the worst bank I’ve ever had a business account with. I had fraud on my account from another company that withdrew money without authorization. I resolved the issue with that company, and they returned the money to my Truist account — yet Truist still refuses to refund the NSF fee they charged me.
I stopped using this account about a year ago, so my deposits go to a different bank now. Yes, the account didn’t have enough funds to cover the fraudulent charge — because it was fraudulent, and not my fault. Truist doesn’t care. They’d rather hit people over the head with their ridiculous fees.
Most banks charge $29 for NSF fees, but Truist charges $36, and many of their other fees are higher too. It’s unfair, it’s predatory, and it shows exactly how little they value their customers.
Truist - Redefining bad service one customer at a time.
"Inherited" Truist as our bank when they bought SunTrust. They have proceeded to be an absolute nightmare to deal with. Had hoped they would get better as the merger proceeded. Well, they somehow continue to get worse. We have all of our finances tied up with them, until today. Last straw. Signed up for an online check to be sent to a contractor. 7 days later they still hadn't sent, after 30 minutes on the phone and unable to reach anyone who could help, my wife drove 30 minutes to a branch to cancel this payment and get a certified check so we could actually pay the contractor. Truist proceeded to charge $35 to stop payment on the check they took 7 days to not send. No apologies and absolutely zero understanding of how their ineptness put us in this situation with our contractor. But they got $35 out of us to fix their mistake and had a chance to be rude to a customer. We're done. Uncle. No Mas Truist.
I went to pay for food at a restaurant…
I went to pay for food at a restaurant and my card was declined because Xfinity/Comcast had overdrawn my account. I immediately called Truist for help, already stressed and embarrassed in public, only to spend an exhausting amount of time repeating myself to a representative who could barely understand what I was saying. I repeatedly explained that the issue was with Xfinity/Comcast taking money from my account, yet he kept asking if it was Olo and continually misunderstood the situation. Communication was nearly impossible.
After wasting a large amount of my time going in circles, he finally acknowledged that the charge issue had supposedly been corrected and that the money would return in 3–5 business days — but then casually mentioned I “may get a fee.” Excuse me? My account was overdrawn because of a billing issue, and now I might be penalized on top of it?
At that point I requested a supervisor because I was already late getting into work dealing with this mess. I specifically explained that I needed to go inside my job and would call back later if necessary. Instead, supervisor JERMINA called me back while I was working and immediately began asking for account credentials in one of the most inconvenient ways possible. Rather than using the normal verification methods most banks use — such as a text code, security verification, or other reasonable options — I had to stop what I was doing at work, pull up my banking app, and search for my account number while managing employees.
The most frustrating part was JERMINA’s attitude throughout the interaction. When she could tell I was upset, she gave off the impression that she wanted to rush me off the phone rather than actually help resolve the problem. Then after acknowledging that credits can sometimes be issued in fraudulent or problematic situations, she basically told me that in my situation they would do nothing. No accountability. No empathy. No urgency. Just a dismissive tone that made it feel like my financial stress and wasted time meant absolutely nothing.
JERMINA’s attitude alone guaranteed that I will be reconsidering my relationship with Truist. When customers are stranded, embarrassed, overdrawn, and trying to get help, the absolute last thing they need is poor communication, dismissiveness, and zero ownership of the issue.
This entire experience was unacceptable from beginning to end.
