Unfortunate

Unfortunate, I have not got to stay, I have made a huge error in my booking and I can not get a refund, I have plead for them to help me with my booking error, to no avail, The customer service team will not help, they just send template emails, if I could give no star rating I would, what company doesn't change booking dates, or make adjustments to bookings for clients. They have over £600.00 of my money and I am going to get nothing for it.
to say I am disappointed is an understatement. I will never use a travel lodge in my life again.

Very poor and disappointing service

I booked a room and received a booking reference but no email confirmation. I contacted Travelodge by email to query this. It took them a few days to respond and advise me to re book, By then the cost have gone up by £20. They did not offer me the room at the original price I assumed I had paid, as a goodwill gesture. They have now lost a regular customer.

Sourton Cross Okehampton

Sourton Cross Okehampton - some of the staff need a lesson in hospitality, a smile or even looking up would help when a guest enters. The room smelled damp and the bath had awful mould behind the handles. The hotel carpets were grubby and the whole place felt more than tired. Some staff were okay, but generally it felt grim.
The sheets were clean but the bed was uncomfortable.

As a longtime and regular user I feel this time I have been let down.
Loud music destroyed my sleep and for whatever reason the "parking discount log in" refused to accept my vehicle registration. I ended up paying more than twice what I should have, only to get zero hours sleep!
Shame, staff were friendly, room was clean and comfortable.....

In Nov 2025 I originally made a booking for two people for a stay in Gloucester in April 2026 .Suffice to say enroute there had car troubles and could make it.I was allowed to move the booking forward until September
2026. No update email received not showing in The App.
Moving on countless calls and emails back and forth to customer service .
It transpires I made a flexi booking back in Nov 25 so I could have had a full refund then🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬.
Checking my bank account by chance today and the monies I originally paid is back in my account .
Basically no one at Travellodge know what they are doing One minute its been rebooked and telling me will have to pay a change charge. Then they giving me my original payment back .ENOUGH!! Im not going .I ring out of courtesy to tell you .and you keep me on the phone 15 mins and tell me to ring back as they cant cancel.
Calls are recorded listen too it!!!!
I rang the central reservations number !!!!
Never again Travel lodge.

Travelodge broke their contract with me having confirmed that my booing had been made.

Travelodge broke their contract with me. I went on line and made a booking. Their website told me the booking had been accepted but I got no confirmation email. I. worried about what was happening and sent an enquiry to which I got no reply. Today I rang their customer services who said the booking had not gone through and if I now wanted to book the price would be £20 higher.

THEIR rules are that bookings are non refundable. It's not my fault there were some technical issues at their end as far as I am concerned. a contract was entered into. To be clear before they agreed the booking I had to enter a one time password from my bank. They have broken their contract with me and I expect them to reuimbusre me the difference between the original cost and my rebooking with a different hotel. I dont believe they have a leg to stand on. They cannot have it both ways- that is bookings are unrefundable but they have the right to lose bookings and deny they ever existed. I DARE THEM to respond. OF COURSE THEY WILL NOT

Just to be clear my bank have confirmed i entered their one time passcode and they authorised the booking payment. It's obvious that travelodge intended to agree the booking on receipt of bank authority.

here is a fascinating update on their thinking. The most recent Email from them did not deny that `I saw a booking completed message on my screen. Instead they say " whatever came on the screen the booking was never completed". It's amazing isn't it. If a customer presses the pay now button and wants to change their mind immediately its tough luck its non refundable. Well we will see what the courts have to say about whether a contract was created.

The fire alarm worked. Almost nothing else did.

Trustpilot does not allow zero, and apparently Travelodge Manchester Piccadilly does not allow competence, clear communication, running water or any meaningful plan for disabled guests during an emergency.

Stayed here on 29/05/26. I booked a hotel room. What I received was an overnight experience entitled: What If Nobody In Charge Knew What The Hell Was Happening?

The fire alarms went off more than once, including at around 3:30am, when everyone had to evacuate. There we all were, outside in the street in pyjamas, some barefoot, half asleep and confused, with no idea whether there was a fire, whether anyone had called the fire service, or whether panic and silence were the chosen hospitality theme.

For around 20 minutes, there appeared to be no staff properly managing anything. No clear instructions. No reassurance. No apparent check that guests were safe. No concern for disabled or vulnerable guests, or anyone standing barefoot outside wondering whether the hotel had an emergency procedure or just an optimistic fire alarm.

It was so badly handled that I called 999 myself because guests genuinely did not know whether the fire service had been contacted. A guest having to call 999 during an evacuation because the hotel has communicated nothing is quite something.

The fire service arrived, and eventually a staff member appeared carrying an assembly point sign and using a megaphone. There seemed to be no attempt to check whether people could hear, understood what was happening, or needed help. It had all the reassuring energy of a school trip run by someone who has lost the children.

Eventually people started going back inside. I did not clearly hear that it was safe. We followed everyone else in. Apparently the procedure was to trust the vibes and hope for the best.

Then it got worse.

The lifts were unusable because they were in fire service mode. Our room was on the fourth floor. I am disabled, and four flights of stairs causes pain and exhaustion. Another disabled couple were stranded too, abandoned by whatever was passing for a plan.
We waited around 15 minutes for help. Security went outside to use his radio, returned, said he did not know, and told us to sit on the stairs.

Sit on the stairs.

At nearly 4am. After being evacuated barefoot into the street. While disabled and unable to reach the room we had paid for.

A magnificent accessibility plan. Why provide assistance or information when you can leave disabled guests on a staircase until they either give up or somehow become less disabled?

The other disabled couple got so fed up they left. We had nowhere else to go, so I had no choice but to climb four flights of stairs, in pain, exhausted and furious.

Reception said they did not know what was happening and they were sorry. No help. No options. No practical support. Just an apology with all the usefulness of a decorative cushion in a burning building.

Eventually we reached the room, which was boiling. The fan had about the same cooling power as a moth flapping its wings in your direction. I was overheated and dehydrated, with bare feet filthy from outside, so I tried to get water and wash.

There was no running water.

No taps. No shower. No warning. No explanation. After being evacuated, abandoned outside, stranded by inaccessible lifts and forced up four flights of stairs in pain, I could not even wash the street off my feet or get water.

I am not angry because a fire alarm happened. Emergencies happen. I am angry because the response was chaotic, uncaring and inadequate, particularly for disabled guests.

I expected a bed, safety, water, clear communication and someone to give a damn when disabled guests could not access their rooms.

Apparently that was wildly ambitious.

Avoid, unless your idea of a relaxing stay is barefoot pavement, emergency services, staircase-based disability support, dehydration and no water.

Unacceptable cleanliness - Stratford Centre

Really disappointing experience at Travelodge London Stratford Centre.
During our stay, we noticed that the duvet provided in our family room was visibly soiled and stained. This was extremely unpleasant and falls well below the basic standard of cleanliness you should expect from a hotel.
I reported the issue to reception and was told it would be passed to the manager. After receiving no acknowledgement, I raised a formal complaint.
Travelodge has now responded and offered a complimentary breakfast on my next stay. Unfortunately, given the nature of the complaint, I find this an inadequate response. After finding soiled bedding, I have no intention of staying at Travelodge again, so an offer that requires me to return to the hotel is of little value.
I would expect Travelodge to take greater responsibility for what was a serious failure in basic cleanliness. Sadly, this experience and the way my complaint has been handled has left me with no confidence in staying with Travelodge again.

Go to Premier Inn.

Absolutely disgusted with Travelodge and I will make sure I avoid them in future. We booked a single night trip for a concert at Sandringham Estate and it was booked on a non-cancellation basis. We then found out that the promoters of the concert had gone bust and we were left with no concert which we lost a proportion of the money for and a night stay we couldn’t use for anything. I contacted TL, weeks before our booking, and requested to simply move the date to a new hotel due to the circumstances. We weren’t asking for a refund and nor did we expect one but we did expect some compassion in the circumstances. Their assistance would have cost them nothing. We could prove definitely the situation and I eventually got a glib reply just saying no. I followed this up with a reply that was then completely ignored. No acknowledgment, no response whatsoever. I left it until the day prior to our booking and decided to put a complaint in due to their complete lack of compassion and their lack of courtesy to reply. That was two weeks ago. Again, I have had no reply whatsoever. They have taken our money, supplied nothing in return and don’t even have the policy to reply to emails to their ‘customer services’ team. It will be Premier Inn for me from now on, even if it costs more.

Carlisle Centre Problematic

Carlisle Centre Travelodge. Floor 1 Room 18.

Fine Overall but some problems that need fixing.

Once again no mains sockets anywhere near the bed.
Only ONE, yes only ONE socket available, over where the kettle plugs in.
Worst i have ever experienced, forcing the customer to
take extensions just to have a socket nearby the bed for phone/ laptop etc to charge.

Toilet made a horrendous sound everytime flushed.
Shower leaked massively at joint under the controls.
And once again the horrible loud banging noise anytime someone opens the fire doors in the corridors.

Staff were lovely and helpful.

I was stupid enough to make a mistake…

I was stupid enough to make a mistake on the booking which I spotted the moment the payment went through. Despite making contact with customer services within 2 minutes of making the booking, they were unable to change the error because it was a lowest price booking. Not any evidence of humanity. No show of sympathy. Just a plain no. I realise it was my error but I would have thought since I was not asking for a refund, they might, out of the goodness of their heart, made an amendment. So long story short, I lost £189.49 They did offer to rebook for me for a further £189.49 but I don't have that spare cash to spend.
That's how they make a quick buck out of you.

We visited the Altrincham Central…

We visited the Altrincham Central Travelodge. The facilities were good, for the price. However, the reason for the review is to commend Amy Wellborne in customer services for her excellent assistance. In short, we arrived at the hotel near midnight to find the car park full. Dropped off our bags at reception and left to find another car park. A week later Ocean Parking deemed it necessary to levy a parking charge on us. The appeal was rejected despite there being no parking space available. Amy reviewed the situation and, although unable to cancel the parking charge as Ocean Parking is a third party, arranged for us to be reimbursed for the cost. Can't thank Amy enough for her help in resolving this.

worst experience ever

For years, we were so happy with Travelodge. They were kind, supportive and my favourite hotel chain.
This year, I accidentally clicked on the wrong hotel with a similar name in the same city. I called immediately, explained what happened and begged for help several times per email. The hotel is on a motorway location that I cannot not even reach.

They refused. They did not care. I lost £500.

This is the worst experience I have ever had.

Please be careful.

Never Experieced any thing like this ever.

I booked a Twin Room at Porthmadog Travelodge on 1 June, approximately three months in advance, specifically so that we could rest and recuperate following a fishing trip. On arrival we were offered a room that had hygiene concerns, this presented a potentially significant health and safety issue. The combination of a strong sewage-like smell and a saturated carpet inside a hotel bedroom is clearly not a condition in which a paying guest should be expected to stay. I do not think I need to write more about this experience. Will never stay or reccommend Travelodge to anyone as long as I live.
