Tom Tom's service is useless

Tom Tom's service is useless, placed my order and paid 21st May - my two devices have still not arrived - tracking shows maybe a delay - there's no published phone number - no replies to email - chat bot kept me waiting for 17mins then said - there's no agent to help you...- NEVER BUY FROM TOM TOM....they like to hide and not address or face issues...Azim JAFFER

TomTom Rider 550 Premium Pack

TomTom Rider 550 Premium Pack — Premium for whom?

After several weeks of use, I genuinely regret this purchase. Here's why.

🔴 Unwanted advertising POIs forced upon you
Commercial POIs (Bokerbetten, MoHo Hotels...) come pre-installed in "My Places" without your consent, and there is absolutely no way to delete them. TomTom is using the storage space of a device you paid full price for to push commercial advertising. This is a deeply unfair practice.

🔴 A completely locked-down product
Internal files are deliberately inaccessible. No customisation whatsoever. Managing personal POIs and itineraries is frustratingly rigid — limited options, zero ergonomics. For a device marketed as a "premium" motorcycle GPS, this is simply inexcusable.

🔴 A disappointingly weak companion app
MyDrive Connect, supposed to be the bridge between device and user, turns out to be functionally poor. No POI management, no customisation options, a stripped-down interface that adds almost nothing.

🔴 An unreachable, useless support
When you reach out for help, you get an AI chatbot going in circles, unable to acknowledge any issue, systematically redirecting you to irrelevant documentation. No human, no solution, no recognition of the many well-documented problems reported by the user community. This non-existent support says a lot about how TomTom treats its customers after the sale.

I do not recommend this product. I am actively warning every rider I know against this brand. For the price charged, this is nowhere near good enough.

No customer service other than AI bot! AVOID

Well, having used a Tom Tom start 62 successfully for a few years which is not "live updates" I thought Id upgrade to a live Tom Tom Go Exclusive. A lot of my information was already available but after a week of pretty good service the live system dumped all of my information. Begining of May ther was a massive issue with Tom Tom which customers were not informed of. Having manually re installed all addresses which took an hour it seemed OK then a day later the whole lot was wiped again. Using the only support an AI robot system the nightmare started. Eventually after getting them to agree they had an issue from 1st to 10th May I requested a refund so I could buy anothe system. 3 weeks of mindless questions and going in circles with no answers just more questions! Avoid Tom Tom like the plague ther is literally no phone or human contact that Ive found.......

If I could give this a zero stars I…

If I could give this a zero stars I would. This technology is so outdated, I can see this going the way of Blockbusters video stores. Keep doing the same thing and expecting things to change is not a strategy. That aside, the tech just doesn't work. The number of times I've been sat in traffic to be notified 2 mins later that I'd sat in it shows that live traffic doesn't work. I've also had the opposite where there is no traffic! Up to date maps, ha. A road I travel on quite frequently was altered 2 years ago as part of HS2 engineering. In the last month the change to the road has finally appeared, not the change to speed limit though.

Then there are speed cameras which is a paid for subscription. Again, average cameras were installed on a road I travel down on a regular basis. When I contacted TomTom their response was for me to add the details as a map correction after the cameras had been there for over a year. So you want me to help you with outdated data because you can't be bothered. A38, roadworks gone a year ago, still getting notifications for travelling over 40 miles an hour. I could go on, looking at the other reviews there is no point as it's falling on deaf dinosaur ears.

Subscription cancelled, now to move to Peer 2 Peer where at least the information is up to date.

Worst company in every aspect. Avoid this company.

I bought a brand new TomTom Go Expert Plus 7", and after two months of use, the device broke down. I contacted customer service, and they asked me to send it in for repair. They listed UPS as a company they work with, so I shouldn't worry. A few weeks later, they sent a package containing the device, which turned out to be a new one. It also turned out that it wasn't a GO EXPERT PLUS 7", but a Go NAVIGATOR. So I filed a complaint again. They asked me to send the device back, which I did. However, this time, the service center refused to accept the package. Due to all this confusion, I've been without a navigation system for two months, and there's no end in sight. If they don't resolve the issue soon, I'll be forced to take the matter to court.

Just bought a new device. Tried putting password etc in, wouldn’t accept it. Then got blocked. Looked for phone support, there isn’t any, doesn’t exist. Contact form… doesn’t exist. E mail support……. Doesn’t exist, all that’s available is a microchip (which I told to blow a fuse).
Entered speak to someone, reply log in. Asked for phone number, reply log in. Entered account blocked, reply would you like customer services, reply yes, bot reply…. Log in. Entered cannot account blocked, reply do you want customer support, me, yes, bot reply log in. Etc etc. tried forgot password, reply sending a link. Did that umpteen times…. No email link sent. Ended up with brainwave, new account. Had to set up new e mail account so I could get updates. Abysmal!
Clearly, like most companies, AI (which uses 5% of Uk electric, not to mention ENORMOUS quantities of drinking water as coolant (look out for water shortages)) as opposed to employing people. Billions spent on bots as opposed to giving people a job and self respect.

Tom Tom is THE most appalling Company…

Tom Tom is THE most appalling Company at providing anything near what could be regarded as Customer Service. In the past, they lost a brand new device of mine somewhere in transit from UK to Germany and I had to claim from my Credit Card provider. No apologies .. no nothing from this sick making concern. Now I am trying to do the simplest task of updating my card details and am unable to do so due to their un-navigable website that an average ability 10 year old could have better written. The chat bot is completely FAKE as it generates the same 'people waiting' and time sequences each time you use it. Clearly it is not monitored and the general public are left wondering why they bought their premium navigation device from such an abysmal Company. Sadly, as I get older, I even more need the services of a reliable satnav and one with a nice readable screen. This is something that Tom Tom excel in, but perish the thought when you need some support! If only the manufacturer had the faintest inkling of how to look after their clients!

Tom tom truck sat Nav disappointing

I have a motorhome and for extra reassurance purchased the Tom tom truck sat Nav. Disappointed in the routes offered i.e. whilst travelling in France the route offered was through a busy town (Martigues) even when I input the vehicle as a truck! Mean while Google maps gave a route around the town easy and avoided a busy Saturday in the town centre. Also the Tom tom planner will sometimes just not load on chrome have tried all the advice given. So if you want a Tom tom truck sat Nav going cheap look out on eBay as this is where mines going!

Inaccurate, unreliable, woeful service.

Quality of apps is down, accuracy is down, prices are up. Service is non-existent - no proactive communication of significant outages, and they make it deliberately difficult to get hold of them. Once you do eventually raise a ticket, they have a 48-hour SLA, but it's now been 4 days and still no response. I have paid £80 for an app I am unable to use. I have defended TomTom to others in the past, but they have come off the rails. £80 subscription cancelled!

£500 my TomTom cost me and I've had…

£500 my TomTom cost me and I've had nothing but issues for the past 4 years, I've not bought a new satnav as given the cost of this one I've had to persevere with it. In this time its had 3 new cables, a magnetic holder and repaired by a third party as the charging connections internally gave up. Currently i have to sit it in its window mount with the cable wound up and over it for it to charge. Being a multi drop HGV driver I had some 300 favourites saved, not anymore. Fired it up Monday morning and nothing, not even my home address or work place. It sometimes reports arrival times sometimes blanks out. Sometimes it displays an eta sometimes not. Its routing leaves a lot to be desired as I often ignore it on familiar routes for it to suddenly cat up and knock 5 minutes of an eta assuming its showing the eta that day. Its not a product for a professional driver, stick to Google on your phone and save yourself time, money and headaches. Buy one at your own risk people.

Disappointing and frustrating!

After many years of using TomTom Go I found myself annoyed as many other users by losing all my favourite places that I saved for the last few years and my home and work address that keep getting deleted on daily basis with no fix as yet. Disappointing and frustrating!

Well done TomTom

Well done TomTom, lorry driver here, who the other day went to his sat nav, to find all my favourites have not only disappeared from my go expert, but also from my account too. No email to tell me what's going on, but reading on the Facebook page, everyone has lost theirs too. When you go to put a place back in, it disappears the next day. NEVER ever get a TomTom

TomTom completely destroyed their…

TomTom completely destroyed their customer support. They removed phone support, the live chat is just a broken bot loop, and there is no real way to contact a human. For years everything worked fine, now they mixed up my accounts, subscriptions and Google Play profiles with another family account. I cannot properly restore or manage my subscription. Support is useless and nobody fixes anything. Please contact me and provide a real customer service phone number.

Resolved, but dissatisfied with customer service

Expensive equipment which works, but not when required. I needed to make a very long journey over three days, using various saved waypoints, places and saved routes. All my saved places and routes have disappeared on all devices ( computer, mobile app and navigation device ) and I cannot log in on the tomtom device. After finally managing to contact a customer service agent I get the usual useless instruction to switch it on and off, reset the device and change the password before they finally discovered that tomtom has a technical issue with its servers which means everything, for me at least, is out of action in terms of paid services until 10th of May at least. My device is supposed to be a profesional top of the range piece of equipment which takes into account vehicle dimensions and weights plus dangerous cargo details, heights, width and weight restrictions so in addition to my bookmarks missing none of this currently works the one time I need it. Customer support is literally a waste if time, and the organisation clearly doesn't care much. Not investing in this company's products ever again.

UPDATE:

Everything has finally been restored, again without notification, and the system is once more functioning. Too late for my recent lengthy trip however, when I had to rely on printed maps once again. and memory. Google doesn't really support specialised navigation adequately. My principal objections to the behaviour and support offered by 2026 TomTom International BV are that this is a paid for service (both equipment and addons) for which they neither provide advance warning in the event of problems nor are they able to provide knowledgeable support much beyond circular bot responses. On the rare occasions I've been unlucky enough to contact a support agent, their help seldom extends much beyond advising the device to be rebooted or reset, and in this instance they were unbelievably initially unaware of the data server problems.

They could have notified all their customers by email of the problems they were experiencing, as a matter of courtesy, but they are clearly totally disinterested in providing any meaningful customer service once they have your money. Furthermore, their latest software versions have removed one particular, I would argue essential feature, actual time on the map display, leaving only arrival time and distance options. The bs I received from 2026 TomTom International BV when requesting that this should be rectified was that it was a hardware issue, which it clearly is not as the live clock can be found buried in one of the settings screens and obviously the devices have an internal clock in order to predict arrival times. Yet another example of not listening to customers, and the general ignorance of their so called customer service team.

What a shame. Years ago these devices were excellent, and easily configurable by the user. Now we just have to put up with what the company decides we need.
