NOT A SCAM, but not the same(after James sold!)
I’m leaving 4 stars based on my 10 year history with this company. In 2015 the company was run by the founder, James Ferrer, and I’m certain it was a tight ship. Kane, the customer liaison was awesome, and every single question was promptly answered by one of these guys. The wheels were on point and good quality for the money. I purchased 2 sets, and so did my buddy.
When an issue occurred it was immediately made right without a fuss.
Fast forward ten years and the Epic 88s and 50mm Tri and Road wheels I got in 2015 and 2016 finally began to delaminate-so I bought a new Tri set similar to the 88s. It’s CLEAR that things have gotten rocky since James sold the company in 2022. Let’s just say that I’ve been getting good feedback and quick responses from “Adam” after a wheel failure. But it’s NOT THE SAME as it used to be. There’s that obvious funkiness to the emails that implies they’re being written by a machine or someone with little grasp of English. A whiff of disingenuousness, if you will.
At least they are honest about who OWNS the company on the website.
Again, it sounds like they’ve turned things around recently, but 22-24 sounded like a nightmare for the company (Covid, supply chain issues etc).
I wish them well and hope this last wheelset is as good as the first two I purchased. But I miss the old TokyoWheel, led by James and Kane…I hope they made some money out of the sale of the company!
Dangerous wheels and high pressure sales
After serious high pressure salesmanship and declining prices, I caved and bought a set of gravel wheels as a second set to have an option of bigger tires for backpacking vs straight gravel riding without having to replace the sealant etc.
The wheels arrived after a long delay and after one ride they both came out of true and wobbled badly. Two Toronto bike shops examined them and both independently concluded that they were built with spokes that were far too short and should not be used for fear of a catastrophic failure. One tech called them death traps.
I contacted the company and received one sentence replies that were difficult to understand at times and after months of back and forth and long periods or silence, they’ve gone radio silent again. They balked at the cost to replace the spokes locally and stalled at the notion of sending me new wheels. They offered to send longer spoke nipples which would not make these wheels safe at all and makes me think they actually don’t have any clue on safe wheel building principles. As of the time of writing, they’ve once again gone radio silent and I am considering legal action.
*Update* after this review and some comments ln their IG page, the company responded and accepted an offer to pay half of the cost to repair the wheels. Not even close to adequate customer service, but it reduced my losses by about $300.
Tokyo Wheel isn't the same.
I bought my first set of wheels from Tokyo Wheel years ago, back when the founder was still in charge -- the Epic 88. It eventually went out of round, and then I punctured the rim on a nail (my fault).
Recently, I ordered a replacement rear wheel. I paid for it, but no tracking update was ever provided. After contacting “Adam” in customer service (likely just a shared inbox), I was told I’d receive it “real soon.” A month passed with no progress, so I requested a chargeback from my bank and emailed the company, citing their own website policy that orders can be canceled before shipping.
The next business day, a UPS label was suddenly created, still no sign the wheel had shipped. I emailed again to confirm my cancellation, but Adam replied that the wheel had already shipped and returning it would “cost too much.” Reluctantly, I accepted. On top of that, I was notified I had to pay import duties.
As of mid-August, I am still waiting for the wheel I ordered in the first week of July.
This is not the same company I first supported. The service, transparency, and reliability that once set Tokyo Wheel apart seem to be gone.
I need to return them
I need to return them. I have a number for them, 8557714917. It's either busy or can't connect at this time message.
I've tried emailing service and adam, but I get nothing in return, even when I request a receive receipt and a read receipt.
How does one get in touch with these guys, GEEZ!
Thanks.
Bill

Paid for wheels and got nothing
Paid for wheels and then told they are having problem with factory. Got all the excuses and told i would get wheels but still nothing 8 months later.
Not sure what has happened to Tokyo Wheels lately for this to happen as this was going to be my second set of wheels.
First set was faultless.
Epic5.6 wheelset gone bad
Ordered the Epic5.6 wheelset, rim brake and they were good for the few initial rides, then I startee to notice a play in the wheel, most likely from a bad axle. Contacted the company to inquiry about warranty/servicing and no response whatsoever. I would avoid them and buy from an established brand. This js why Tokyowheel are so cheap: lower quality and no customer service.
Scammers
I agree with previous post. Very responsive pre purchase. Paid for wheels, then tracking number leads to dead end and they don't respond to any number of attempts to get in touch. Will be trying to get money back through credit card
Simply a scam company!!!!!
Simply a scam company!!!!!
Good contact when ordering - 1.400$. 2-3 weeks delivery time they said. Then they withdraw money from your bank account. Times goes and you hear them telling about some delays. Then after 2 months you can't get in contact with them - no contact from their side at all.
They have taken your money and delivered nothing. It's a scam company and they steal your money.
Amazing after sales support
The after sales service from this company is something i have never ever experienced before. They are amazing and really care about their customers safety , well being and happiness.I have been dealing with James , a really nice guy who always promptly responded to my requests. I would and do always promote this company to all my friends in the cycling world
Tokyo Wheel non-responsive after sale.
Tokyo Wheel was very responsive to inquiries prior to purchase. After the purchase, Tokyo Wheel was non-responsive to inquiries about shipping dates. Cancelled order and disputed the transaction with credit card company. Avoid Tokyo wheel and deal with a reputable seller.

I got the epic 5.6 carbon wheels for…
I got the epic 5.6 carbon wheels for about 3 months now. I can say the wheels have been great, there have not been anything with them the rolls fantastic.
Bought a 5.6 carbon wheel set in 2018
Bought a 5.6 carbon wheel set in 2018. I had never heard of Tokyo wheels before but decided to take a chance. Well 4 yrs later and over 50,000kms on the wheels! Just changed out the rear bearings and good for another 50,000! These are great wheels and I would not hesitate to buy another Tokyo wheel. Great price and a great wheel! Still as true as the day I bought it! Buy a set and you Won’t be disappointed!
Very happy with my purchase
The wheels arrived in good condition and in good time. They look and feel excellent. I fitted some tires and the supplied brake pads and were all ready to go. I went for the standard hubs and spokes and the build quality feels great. They make the bike look pretty cool.
Great wheels
I have bought two set of wheels from Tokyowheel. A set of rim brake clinchers and a set of disc brake clinchers. The quality of the wheels is great and they ride great too. The rim brake clinchers come with everything you need to install the wheels on your bike and go ride. The disc brake clinchers require a set of disc to complete the wheels. Overall I am happy with my purchase and would buy them again. I may buy more in the future. Based on current technology the wheels are narrow.
Perfect Thanks
Very good, wheels arrived perfectly, took about 6 weeks to arrive to Ireland. Epic 5.6 rims are very cool
These are my first carbon wheels..
These are my first carbon wheels... So I didn't know what to expect... I read about Tokyo wheels on a blog called the peloton... The field in Danish... Bought with ceramic bearings... They rolls perfectly.. In my opinion... You have to expect the wait is a bit long... But I think you should be happy to be able to get new wheels at all... There is a lack of spare parts everywhere
Great quality carbon wheels, definitely recommend.
This was my third set of wheels in 7 years from Tokyowheel, all brilliant. Such a good set for the price. Would have liked to upgrade to DT disc hubs but the vapours are really good anyway.
I am running the Epic 5.6 with 44mm tyres, tubeless for road and gravel and they are so good! Smooth and fast. What more do you need.
