Wanted to charge £50 for watch battery !!!
I've used Timpsons in Teso Thetford numerous times but I was now in for a shock. When I asked the rather surly staff member if he could change the battery in my Swiss watch he said "well I'll give you a quote". He then said "£49.95". I was taken aback as usually it was around £20 at the most. When I enquired why the price hike he replied rather rudely 'I don't set the prices ask Timpsons'. No, but you work for them I hit back. Still no reason given but I assume it's because they are charging high prices for good quality watches. But they only use the same batteries as in cheaper watches and are no more difficult to do.
So, the only conclusion is that Timpsons are profiteering or simply don't want to handle quality time pieces any more. My Swiss watch only cost £150 anyway, it's hardly a luxury brand. I'm not paying a third of that for a new battery especially as the previous one they fitted didn't last very long anyway.
And finally, don't treat your customers with contempt just because you ask a perfectly reasonable question. Unacceptable.

In March 2025, so just over a year ago, I purchased a lifetime watch battery for £24.95. This week the battery stopped and I went to my local Timpson where I purchased the battery, with a copy of the receipt on my phone, only to be told that unless I had the guarantee card they would not replace the battery. I was not given a guarantee card at the time of purchase, just informed to keep a copy of the receipt which is why I took a photo as the print usually tends to disappear over time on paper receipts. I contacted Customer Services and the response I received today was “Sorry for any inconvenience caused. Unfortunately, without a guarantee card, the colleague is unable to assist you.
I am so sorry again”.
Seems like they totally dismiss the fact I actually have proof of purchase, and are not interested in putting the customer first. I will never buy this lifetime battery again from Timpson.
Customer Services have since been in contact again and sending me a new card, so hopefully this issue will be rectified.

Used to be really good however! Pleasant and professional but a bit of a disaster. Went in for some replacement keys. Was persuaded re the 3 for the price of 2 offer which I took. None of the 4 keys worked. Went back and he spent time on the phone getting advice (not comforting) then cutting new keys. Got home and whilst they work (ish) they need wiggling about to do so. Not happy so will be taking back and asking for a refund and will go elsewhere.
*** Thank you, shop was good enough to offer refund.

I checked online the price for a battery for my watch which would cost 30-45 pounds so I went to Timpsons but when I got there I was told it was 94 pounds. I explained the online price list stated 30-45 pounds bu5 the member of staff just said it’s 94 pounds , didn’t check the price that’s stated online . Absolute rip off, will be going elsewhere.

I posted this as customer service did not respond to my complaint.
I attended at Timpson which is located outside of Tesco superstore in Bicester on 7th July, to adjust my Hamilton watch strap, which I bought on 6th July. A guy in the shop said it would take some time, asked me to come back on Friday. I was promised that they would give me a call on Friday, which they didn’t, so I had to call them in the afternoon. To my surprise and frustration, I was informed that they could not find my watch. Without taking any responsibility, with minimal apology, I was referred to their customer service, for compensation (it is worth £790). I raised a ticket on 10th July, but up to current date, I have not received any response from customer service team. How would you feel if your watch repair shop lost your watch, and at the same time, no satisfactory apology or any timely solution from their side? I am still waiting for their customer service response with frustration. I would like to minus 5 star if I have that option….
Update on 25th July,
I was called from same guy that he found my watch back, and let me show you photos (I uploaded on google map)
Wow! My watch was handled in very bad way. When I showed him that pin was piercing through my skin, that same guy blamed me as I was not directing to the point, on my return back to him, surprisingly he told me that he did not know this watch!!!! Come on guy, you were a same person who lost my watch. He added a sentence “customer service will never compensate me for this”….I was served in very rude way…..

I used your Mansfield branch located within ASDA. All seemed well when the woman who served me cut three keys and I was further informed of when to pop back for for the one remaining key to be cut (not in stock).
Unfortunately, mine became a 'Jekyll and Hyde' experience for after returning with one of our three original keys which had not been cut correctly I was met with a hostile, stony-faced reaction from this woman. No apology was given; instead I was made to feel like I was in the wrong for asking for a recut.
I then asked about the other key that could not be cut previously... and was told very curtly it would cost £12.
I thought I had heard her say it would be £11 on my first visit so questioned this only to be be told 'they are £12 and always have been... but it is three keys for £24'.
At that I produced my previous receipt - where I had paid £29 for three requesting a potential £5 refund - and was made to feel rather stupid for asking another perfectly acceptable question; it was, in fact, a 3 for £24 offer only on that type of key once it was explained fully.
To be honest, from the moment I approached on the second occasion I was made to feel like a nuisance begging the question...
Why is it that sometimes, especially in this country these days, you feel like the person serving you is a stroppy customer whilst you - keeping calm and not showing your frustration despite their poor customer service and care - are the one trying to be polite and 'sell yourself' just to get an amicable answer?
And this from a woman who is keen to display her customer award posters in front of her customers!

Shout out for Stefan for excellent customer service at Wokingham branch of Timpson in town centre. He spent a lot of time sorting out a replacement car key for my VW and even let me take it away to try it out before I paid.
Absolute gent. Polite, courteous, trustworthy and very people friendly

The staff at Timpsons Kidderminster seem to charge whatever they want. I had two keys copied 3 days apart and was charged wildly different prices. Would not use again.

Bought a new car key a year ago which had sprung apart, went back (but I had no receipt) for help.
I wasn’t able to pay another £50 and couldn’t find my proof of purchase. The wonderful lady, Dawn I think, was fabulous, taking my key apart and reassembling it so I could use it.
She couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful. It was a wonderful experience and truly reflected the company I have always believed Timmons to be.
The ‘branch’ was outside the Asda store on the Brombrough Retail Park Wirral.

I can’t recommend the Timpson Welling branch highly enough. Our only key had snapped, and we were worried we’d be facing a much bigger problem. The team went above and beyond by carefully soldering the broken key back together so they could cut a new one for us.
The level of customer service was outstanding. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely cared about helping us. Nothing felt like too much trouble, and they took the time to make sure everything was sorted properly.
It’s rare to come across such excellent service these days, and their kindness and professionalism made a stressful situation so much easier. I would highly recommend the Timpson Welling branch to anyone. Thank you again for going the extra mile.

He’s a credit to your company.
Many thanks Phillip Noon.

Timpsons Woking
I went into Timpsons in Woking yesterday to see if I could get a shoe repaired.
One of my pool slides had come away on the side. I was hoping it could be glued back into place.
Sam, not only repaired my shoe he didn’t ask for payment. He said if I was inclined I could put a donation into the Timpson Foundation tin on the counter

Went in to Timpson White Rose Leeds with my Omega Seamaster Quartz to enquire about a battery change - 70 pounds for a 1 year warranty, 100 pounds for lifetime warranty. Are you having a laugh? I have a watch case opener so I ordered a Renata Long Life battery for £2.92 and it took me precisely 4 minutes to change the battery. Absolute rip off prices from Timpsons.

Used key cutting machine in B and Q Netherfield Victoria Retail Park
Location 60096
Machine took payment and was heard cutting and dropping metal but no keys delivered into collection box
B and Q staff helpfully checked box to make sure then said ring helpline which I did at 13.39
Robot just kept going thru menu options asking lots of questions then saying 'Goodbye' and hanging up on me.
Promised email receipt never arrived
£14 and half an hour of my life.
