I love going to the Gym. Was recommended by a friend and it's exactly what I needed. The staff are great. Nothing is to much trouble.
The facilities are great. If you are just a beginner like me, or someone in training for something bigger.

Absolute scam when trying to cancel your membership. They won’t let you cancel on the app, they say the only way is to cancel your direct debit. Now I’ve cancelled my direct debit, they are trying to charge me a £15 admin fee fine for late payment and haven’t acknowledged that I want to cancel my membership.

There are much better gyms out there that don’t try and make you jump through hoops to cancel membership.

Great friendly staff

The company could improve by requesting that people actually workout rather than standing around talking (often with every other word as f##king).
It's distracting to say the least. Why don't they just meet at Starbucks!!
The company could pop up signs at least.

Great gym at a super price. Would have given 5stars only bad point is the staff who are very helpful. But don’t seem to be brave enough to approach and tell people who use equipment wrong and in an unsafe way.

Used to be a really good gym when lifestyle fitness owned it but since it became the gym group all the equipment has become the typical gym group budget equipment also the sauna and steam room got shut down too. Power showers removed and all the good machines it used to have when lifestyle fitness

I love this gym, spacious but not overwhelming for beginners, clear structure and staff to help at anytime. Well kept toilets, showers and changing rooms with appropriate amount of room. I have been going for coming up too six weeks and have nothing bad to say all lovely people and good community ❤️🙌

keep raising prices whilst not offering anything new and closing steam room

The Handforth gym is always clean and tidy, staff are proactive and friendly and keen to help. I left a CrossFit gym to join here and have been pleasantly surprised! I love going to this gym, it’s a great support for my mental and physical health and since joining I have got fitter and stronger!

I've recently re-joined the Handforth branch after a decent stint at my local JD Gym which was good but just became too busy. Thankfully this gym is reasonably quiet at the times I go so no complaints there.

The kit mostly looks brand new and they have some really nice machines in there. It's a good, varied selection of kit and there's duplicates of the most popular items (leg press, leg curl, pec fly, etc). Plenty of power racks too, which is nice for those of us who like the big compound exercises.

I don't do the classes or use the PTs so I can't comment on that, my usage is purely resistance training following my own programs. I have spoken to a couple of the staff in there though and they seem really nice and helpful.

My only concern, and what prevents me from giving 5 stars, is the time taken to get repair crews out for broken kit. There's a log press bar which is jammed in one of the bar holders, and it's also preventing the removal of several other bars (including the only decent safety squat bar in the gym - the other one is a bit knackered!). The personal trainers (4 of them!) even tried their best to get it out to no avail. I know this has been reported to head office months ago, but still no-one has come out to sort it.

I also reported a broken bolt on the foot plate of the seated calf raise about a month ago and that hasn't been sorted either (and I know the guys have logged that too). Thankfully, that machine is still just about usable, but the chance of the other bolts shearing is now greatly increased.

Since it seems the repairs are co-ordinated centrally, I don't hold the Handforth branch responsible for this, this is something head office need to a get a grip of. This is one area where JD Gyms have it spot on, as you would regularly see the repair guys in there, even just doing proactive maintenance.

I understand that kit is always going to break with usage, but it needs to be repaired PROMPTLY or your members will soon lose faith in you.

If the Gym Group can improve this one flaw, they'd be perfect in my opinion.

Myself & my 16 year old daughter joined the gym in July 23. It’s such an amazing place!… We both absolutely Love it! It’s a fantastic gym which is super friendly & there’s just so many classes to choose from each week… Bob Ashworth (Fit Cycle) on a Wed evening is just the best! … great tunes & it’s such a fab class! Highly recommend 💪 x

FALSE INFORMATION..
It says that they have a sauna & steam room - when they actually haven’t got either of them! If these have been removed for whatever reason then it should really be updated and the Facebook post advertising them should be removed!

The Gym Group has super tailored service & products that suit distinct needs of varied people.

Having been a member for just over a month, to have 4 spin classes already is really poor. Even more so when their customer service / care is shockingly poor as well.

After joining the gym and being completely clueless, Harriet approached me in the gym and provided me with some friendly advice on how to improve my form. Since then, I’ve had PT sessions with Harriet and she’s given me the confidence and motivation I needed. Definitely recommend!

Great gym, plenty of equipment. The staff are really friendly, Shaheen in particular is very approachable and knowledgeable, she is a great motivator and always boosts my confidence.

great gym && all staff were friendly. I had an amazing pt session with shaheen I can not recommend her enough! she’s so knowledgeable as a pt and taught me so much about improving mobility and gaining confidence whilst navigating through all the equipment.
