High quality and expert service that makes taxes as painless as possible.
My first time using Taxes for Expats and I have nothing to complain about but I'm personally reluctant to award 5 stars to any business. The on-boarding process was a breeze. Their system answered many of the questions automatically after I uploaded my previous years return, requested confirmation, and stepped me through each part with very detailed help when needed. My assigned accountant was clearly knowledgeable with detailed follow up questions. The service is well worth the cost and the user experience was as smooth and pleasant as possible (we are talking about taxes after all). I will definitely use them again and gladly recommend them to others.

Its very reasonably priced
Its very reasonably priced, efficient (if you are an organized person) and local options I had used had become unreasonably expensive. I have been filing taxes as an overseas American for the past 15 years and have used them for past 4.

I am currently in contact with TFX for US Income Tax Return for a couple of expats
I am currently in contact with TFX for more than a month now.
I filed my tax filling period extension with them, for which they hold 100$ that you can use in their following services. I paid this certain that they would agile in offering me their services, and after talking to them on the phone and confirming that they would be able to get my case figured out.
When I received their engagement letter, it did not contain the services I was promised. I asked for them to add it to the contract. When they added it, they add a $200 extra charge. I then ask them to remove the charge, as they have promised in an email and through the phone that that was included and wouldn't be charged, they then proceed to remove those two services from the contract, which gets us back to ground zero.
It is very difficult to get in contact with them, when I call all lines are busy. They take many days to answer emails. This is a very important service they offer, and they should try to fulfill their promises or at least offer decent explanations. It is not fair to promise a service at a price, then change the terms in the moment of signature of the contract. I almost feel they are scamming me, because they know I have urgency to file for taxes, and just offering a higher price to see if I take it due to said urgency.
This is not a good experience, and I already paid 100$ that they now hold in credit. I would have paid more for service from another company that was more transparent and agile.

Plenty of communication. I never felt dropped or out of the loop. Respectful, with good customer service.
As a first time client, I was a bit wary and on the lookout for problems. Here are some things that struck me as possible red flags: 1) The first email from my accountant did not reflect the actual progress of my account - it showed instructions to make a payment etc., but I'd already done that. This was quickly resolved, but it did make me a bit nervous for a minute. 2) At least one of your emails got sent to Spam because of its Subject line "Product". Maybe you expected the message to be read in your online message browser, but when i saw it in my email with that subject line, I immediately thought it was spam or phishing.

You've raised two fair points:
First, the initial email didn't reflect your actual payment status. I'm glad it got resolved quickly, but I hear you — that moment of uncertainty is not how we want anyone to start their experience. We'll review our automated email triggers to make sure account status is accurate before those go out.
Second, the "Product" subject line lands in spam. That's a really helpful flag. We do intend for clients to read messages within our secure platform, but email notifications are still an important touchpoint, and a subject line that reads like spam or phishing is counterproductive. I've shared this with our team so they can reconsider that wording.
Despite early hiccups, we're glad you felt well-informed and that our customer service was respectful. That's our baseline, and your feedback helps us improve.

New client update
This company was referred to me by one of my program managers as we both work for the department of State as contractors. My previous accounting firm ghosted me which was the reason I had to seek out a new company. I am aware that as I am a contractor that I don't need an extension but I'm filling out one anyway just to cover basis.
