Rude and selfish staff

On our return flight we were not given the option to select our seats. normally this would not be a problem however my complaint is with the sunwing employees that were deadheading back to Vancouver. They selected all the window seats and aisle seats for themselves leaving multiple families separated including our family of 3. This is not something I would normally complain about however the callous nature of the sunwing employees was completely unacceptable. There was a mother and young daughter asking them to change seats and the young daughter was crying and the mother was begging them to change seats and they just flat out refused and claimed that they couldn't change seats because "they were working" That's BS they were not working they were passengers. This is not just unacceptable as an airline employee, this is unacceptable as a human being to selfishly deny a mother and daughter to sit together just because they want to sit in the center seat. I was sitting in a center seat and I was sitting next to a sunwing pilot that took the window seat and also refused to move. He continually got up to go to the cockpit and chat with his friends over 6 times in a 6 hour flight but refused to sit in an aisle seat. he also had a huge amount of stuff with him including a full size pillow multiple containers and bags that kept falling on my lap and didn't even use the window as he had it blocked with his pillow He was simply a rude and selfish man. I would expect better behavior from a stranger let alone an employee of the airline

Food was disgusting

Food was disgusting, we should be warned. How about a hamburger, only a slice of tomato is available. No condiments at all. I got badly injured on a handrail that broke. Major outbreak of diarrhea and vomiting day 4 from uncooked bacon. Hotel pharmacy had nothing, empty.

Help boarding in wheelchair

I was in Guardalavaca Cuba last week had a fall and am unable to walk. I am a senior . The Sunwing staff at the hotel, on-line and at the airports in Holguin & Ottawa made sure I got home safely. I was transported on & off the plane with narrow airplane wheelchair . Thanks to everyone, very much appreciated during this scary experience.

Price changes from search to checkout? Illegal

I have been trying to get an answer from sun wing as to how their lowest price calculator works. It seems to be a bait and switch scenario to me. I search for a single passenger for it all inclusive resort in the month I want to travel. I pick the week it says one price, when I go to book it says I have to book two people. Even though at the top of the page it's showing I'm searching for a single Traveler. They could at least be honest and say it's a website mistake but they deny there is a problem. Apparely its MY fault for not understanding the calculator is based on double occupancy?. You can't get past the customer service rep to reach a manager or escalate your inquiry. They are rude, unhelpful and they definitely "don't care" as per their tagline "Sunwing Cares".

Sunwing is hands down THE worst airline…

Sunwing is hands down THE worst airline I’ve ever flown with in my life. I had to re-book my flight home, the agent wrote on the paper that I don’t have to pay OOP, yet I was STILL by an agent who promised me I would be reimbursed when I returned home. Then, 2 years later an agent reaches out to me about my claim. I provide the written proof, my invoice, and this Fiathe M still won’t reimburse me. You guys are thief’s and I’m coming after you until that money is put back in my account.

Grand Memories, Holguín, Cuba

We went to Grand Memories in Holguín, Cuba. We were checked in, through the Diamond Club (reservations). Our representative - Julio Cesar, was always checking in/on us. He was very attentive, asking about our kids (experiences), as well. He made sure that any concern was dealt with. The grounds were well maintained, by the maintenance staff. The garden view from our room, was really nice. The beach was beautiful. The food was good. Fresh fruit and vegetables were always available. Fresh ingredient options were prepared right in front of us. Our poolside server, Adrianna, was polite, friendly and always had a smile on her face. She is a beautiful person. We will miss her. This was a great value. It was our first all-inclusive experience.

The worst website ever. lost of errors and mistakes. I could not add my child info and they could not add and ask me to pay almost double for another room. I had to cancel the package and I lost my insurance fees.

We got a cruise package with Marella cruises

We purchase a cruise package from Sunwing for the Marella explorer 2 flavors of Caribbean on Dec 9th 2023 that included the first luggage free at the plane.
However at the Toronto airport counter we where forced to pay for our luggage.
That was the first problem we encounter, upon our return we file a complain with Sunwing and we where told that is going to take almost 30 days to ger a response, now is almost 40 days and no has got back to us. Now for the cruise, the ship is older, however it was clean and the cabin staff was very nice. however the food was like eating at a cheap cafeteria very basic, at breakfast they serve frozen deep-fried MacDonald's style potato patties for
home fries no juice of any kind just powder orange drink. Fruit was minimal, and when they did serve some bananas they where almost gone bad. Very minimum amount of dining room staff to clear the tables most of the time the dirty diches was left on the tables. Lunch was not any better cabbage was the main salad selection, some days two cabbage salads with a different names, one time that they try to serve a Greek salad they forgot the most important thing (the feta cheese)? dinner was not much better, they try to pass for desert a thick water something? with sugar for English custard, a pound cake they call it brawny. They also try to tell me a thick yellow something? in a small glass dish was cream caramel. been a chef for almost 30 years that was a very disappointing cruise. Now for the finale, if just alcohol is your think is ok, however if your looking a balance cruise with nice food and so on, then is best to look for something else.

What is the point of the insurance?

What is the point of the insurance?? I wasted $100/person to get no value! I called to change my destination because of the travel advisory for Bahamas and I am told 1. I have to pay a $100 change fee per person, and 2. the difference between trips is calculated on a per person basis, not per booking, even though we are all sharing one room. The kids are both minors and we are being charged for them as adults. They can't drink alcohol, so why are they the same price?

I am going to lose $200.00 per adult because if the trip is less they don't refund, and have to pay $400+ per child. The original booking was $5,060.00, PLUS $100 per person insurance. The new booking would be $5300.00, so I should just have to pay the $240 difference, but instead I am told I will be losing $400 and paying an additional $900.00.

This is the LAST time I will travel with Sunwing. This is NOT the first disappointing experience I have had and I am not paying for anymore disappointment.

Left Us Stranded

Left stranded in Cuba when their systems went down with zero communication. Had to sleep on the floor in the lobby of the hotel. The next morning there was still no news and no Sunwing rep available, no answer from their online system so we booked flights on the next available AC flight home. We sued in Small Claim Court, had our Settlement Hearing and Sunwing refused to give us what is owning under the APPR. We are waiting for our date in court. You’re not above the law Sunwing! AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

My wife and I booked a vacation last…

My wife and I booked a vacation last week for our honeymoon. We did the same thing last year with Sunwing. We decided to book an all inclusive adult only vacation from the 14 to the 21st. We paid part of the trip from our bank account and the balance with UPLITF.

The deposit was taken from our bank and the UPLIFT loan was all set.

Yesterday the terrible experience begins. But first I should tell you we have invoices that show all is good, we have SUNWING reservation and hotel reservation that all is good.

First we get an e-mail...Sorry we have to inform you that we can't book you at your chosen hotel we HAVE booked you at RIU MontegoBay for the same amount.
THANKS A LOT this hotel in not at all what we want and is like 1000$ less???

But Thank you TRIPCENTRAL and SUNWING

Special Thanks SUNWING's president Mark Williams, sold his shares to WEST JET for a fortune and I certainly hope that one day you experienced what missing a wedding anniversary with someone you love means to a couple.

Talk to TRIPCENTRAL, sorry Tina but she says it's not TRIPCENTRAL fault. Than I ask if she was doing this free.... guest what they are not.
Than spoke with SUNWING they don'T give a F...

Worse ever holiday booking, even Tina told me I should have booked with Air Canada and not SUNWING.

Anyway they all make some kind of money on this trip but none are taking seriously.

It's not TRIPCENTRAL fault, it' not SUNWING fault...i guess it's our fault for trusting incompetent people in 2024. Now you ask why AI is going to replace you, absolutely no back bone like my mother says...take your weekly pay while you can.

Thanks again SUNWING and TRIPCENTRAL for your help in making sure our 30th anniversary was unforgettable. I will tell you something, not even unresponsible people like you will make my wife and I not enjoy our 30TH. I wish you all what you should get.

Vindictive customer service

There was a mistake on our booking that was within their power to help correct. Instead of providing basic customer service they refused to assist. It was incredibly disappointing and such a lack of class.

I recommend using a travel agent and not using Sunwing for anything.

A simple word to describe the experience: TRASH

The Worst Experience

The Worst Experience. Family spend over $50k on Dreams Resort Natura. I booked my trip for Dreams Resort Aventura - accidentally - as the names are so similar (absolutely my fault). I immediately contacted Sunwing re: the error. I explained the situation. The exact words: "Our hands are tied" "Nothing we can do" "Your fault" "non transferable - so you cannot sell either" "Even though both Dreams resorts..... they will not allow unless you buy another package worth $8,000" "you cannot just get a hotel room". I will now have to travel 2 hours a day to meet up with my family at Dreams Natura - when I am not even sure whether they will let me see my family at the resort. What a mess. In conclusion, horrible experience before I even get there. I paid top dollar for this travelling experience. There was no real deal. Approximately $8k.

abruptly ripped our boarding passes

On December 9th, my family, including my 6-month-old son and 3-year-old daughter, embarked on a SunWing Airlines trip, encompassing flights, transportation, and a 7-night stay at an all-inclusive hotel. Our group consisted of six adults and two children, forming three families.
The predicament unfolded on our return flight's check-in. Initially assigned seats in row 13 were abruptly reassigned to row 28 without notice. Despite my efforts to resolve this with supervisor America Paredes, it was revealed that someone had paid for our seats, leading to our displacement. I questioned the right of SunWing to sell our seats and suggested buying them back or receiving compensation.
The situation worsened when agent Marco Antonio tore our boarding passes, leading to police involvement at the airport security checkpoint. We were informed SunWing had overbooked the flight, unbeknownst to us. Attempts to seek clarification from agents America and Marco were futile, and another unnamed agent accused us of posing a safety threat, mentioning police involvement, potential imprisonment, and terrorism. Recording attempts were met with threats of arrest, but I managed to capture Marco's threat.
Forced to rebook independently, the subsequent WestJet travel was uneventful, highlighting issues specific to SunWing. This experience was deeply traumatizing. Marco, America, and the unnamed agent displayed shocking and inhumane behavior, treating us like criminals without regard for our well-being. Selling seats for extra profit at the expense of safety is unacceptable.
Beyond the financial loss, feeling threatened and being accused of terrorism exacerbated the impact. I implore SunWing to promptly and thoroughly address this matter. The unprofessional conduct of its agents reflects poorly on the company's reputation. As a Canadian, feeling like a criminal in a foreign country, especially by agents representing a Canadian company, is disheartening. SunWing must ensure the professionalism of its employees and prioritize the safety of its Canadian customers abroad.

Going home a bit of a nightmare

The getting to the resort was fine. Although we had a wake-up call by the SunWing agent at the resort at 8am, 7am Ontario time, to inform us of a meeting at 10am. They could really just let people know when they are around without having to wake people up early on a holiday morning. The meeting was very brief as we had no interest in any excursions.

Going home was terrible.

A 45-minute bus ride from resort to Punta Cana airport. The lineup was at least two-hours long-- I guess because SunWing booked several flights to all depart close together. We jumped the line because we told a SunWing agent that we paid $100 extra and standing in line for one hour was challenging for me as I have lung cancer--both true statements. He checked with someone and moved us to the express line which still took 30-minutes.

Once we were checked in there was a further one-hour of line ups. Just short of three-hours of standing in lines and I am seated on the plane. I am not sure what I paid extra for because I do think this seat has only about one-centimeter more leg-room, not did it offer any earlier boarding or any other benefits (although there happened to be no one else sitting beside me). Amazingly we only left 15-minutes late. I am not sure how everyone got in the plane on time.

Also, no charging port for our phones
