My experience with Stowe Family Law was brilliant. From day one I was always informed in what was going on with my case and was able to have good communication with the team. I had used Stowe Family Law for a child arrangements case. During this process I was supported by Charlotte Baxter who was a trainee solicitor on my case. Charlotte had good experience, very professional and helped explain and answer any legal question I had. Would definitely recommend.

I cannot recommend Stowe Family Law highly enough. Courtney Litwinko-Smith and Molly Brindley have been exceptional throughout what has been a very challenging and stressful financial remedy case.
Courtney has been professional, responsive, knowledgeable and supportive at every stage. She has always taken the time to explain the process clearly, keep me informed, and provide practical advice when I needed it most. Molly has also been fantastic, ensuring everything progressed smoothly and efficiently.
Thanks to their hard work, attention to detail and determination, we recently achieved a positive outcome at court, including securing a costs order in my favour and important directions to move the case forward. Throughout the process, I have felt confident that my case was being handled by experts who genuinely cared about achieving the best possible outcome.
I am extremely grateful for the support, guidance and professionalism shown by both Courtney and Molly, and I would not hesitate to recommend them and Stowe Family Law to anyone requiring family law services.
Thank you both for everything.

I’ve been working with Ciara Pugh and Anu Kaur of Stowe Family Law for several months now, and I’ve been consistently impressed by their exceptional professionalism, deep expertise, and impeccable client service. The case has been complex, with significant difficulties across various aspects, yet Anu and Ciara have navigated what has felt like a minefield with unmatched skill — always guided by an approach that best serves both their client and justice overall. At times, things became genuinely difficult, upsetting, and frustrating, but they handled those moments with real care, providing certainty and insight when it mattered most. I can’t thank them enough. Highly recommend!

Working with Ashley was a pleasure. He was professional, supportive and I felt I had someone who was fighting hard professionally in my corner. His knowledge of family law and his sense of what is fair and just came through, putting his client’s best interest at the heart of his work. We achieved the right outcome in the end and this was thanks to Ashley’s hard work throughout my case. Thank you.

Absolutely awful! The only reason they have good reviews here is because they ask clients to leave a review after the first meeting. They are absolutely terrible! I suggest that all clients keep a close eye on their bill breakdowns because they make lots of "mistakes" when charging their clients. This company is the worst option you could choose! I bet they will respond to this review faster than they respond to my emails. They do not respect their clients' instructions and take ages to reply to even a simple email. Their priority seems to be prolonging matters rather than resolving their clients' problems, allowing them to charge more fees. I had the worst experience of my life with a solicitor at this company.

Had an initial consultation with Rachel Tomley.
Very patient and knowledgeable with all of my questions.
More importantly, gave me confidence in her ability to act as my solicitor moving forward.

Melanie and the team at Stowe have been brilliant through what is a really tricky period. They took the time to explain everything and my options which allowed me to feel like part of the solution.
When things needed to be turned around quickly they were there. Overall the experience of the team and support has been excellent

I had my first meeting with Heidi Fleming to discuss my cohabitation dispute after the previous solicitor I had been speaking to had left the firm. She made me feel very comfortable within the first minute of the teams call. She explained everything in layman's terms so I understood my rights and my standing in the dispute. Heidi was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects and had taken the time to read my prior notes so I did not have to explain the situation again. She was very supportive and understanding of the situation and made me feel like there was someone on my side who would fight for me. I was nervous going into the meeting but I felt very positive coming out of it and knowing what the next steps will be.

I cannot recommend Stowe Family Law highly enough. Chelcie Evans has been absolutely incredible throughout my case. From the very beginning, she was compassionate, professional and reassuring, always responding promptly and providing clear, thoughtful advice that helped me make informed decisions during an incredibly difficult time.
Chelcie was always focused on achieving the best possible outcome for both me and my son, and I felt reassured knowing she was representing us. Throughout what has been one of the most stressful experiences of my life, she was a constant source of support. I trusted her completely, and having that confidence in my solicitor made all the difference.
The outcome of my case far exceeded what I ever thought was possible, and I truly believe that was down to Chelcie's expertise, dedication and commitment. She consistently went above and beyond, and I will always be grateful for everything she did for my family.
Thank you to Stowe Family Law, and especially to Chelcie, for your outstanding support. I would recommend Stowe to anyone needing a family solicitor without hesitation.

The overall experience was really good - in my high conflict divorce having someone look out for my interests, filter the important from the distracting/posturing, and ultimately drafting something fair, implementable and that is allowing me to move on means all my boxes are ticked.
Firstly, solicitors are not cheap. Stowe are roughly as expensive as everyone else; I had a solicitor and senior solicitor at different points in my case, and both were more than capable, knowledgeable, compassionate and focused on getting me the best reasonable deal they could. I was never promised something that could not be delivered, my questions were always answered promptly and it also gave me the clarity to make the decisions.
My only criticism was that I occasionally felt that there is a little bit of back-covering when what I really wanted was opinion considering their experience as well as the law. Stowe solicitors were understandably risk averse, but it sometimes led to instances where I was provided with two options and not really sure whether they were recommending one or saying it was a bad idea.
As an example, my ex and I agreed a rough set of figures independently during the case for finances, but the advice I received was quite difficult for me to understand. It included both 'once the offer is made the other side will likely rely on it moving forward, and it is less than what you would likely get from the court' and, in the same email, 'once court and legal costs are factored in, you may end up with less if we went to court.' I could not work out whether the deal was recommended or not, and really what I was wanting was either 'this deal isn't enough, I really think you need to reject it' or 'honestly, while you could get more I cannot see how your legal fees won't snowball to more than eclipse it.' The advice was slightly too watery for these moments.
The standard of legal preparation work, drafting and legal writing to opposition was exceptional. At all levels I felt backed by someone capable, even for my solicitor going up against a managing partner at my ex's well-rated firm, never felt like anything other than two equally skilled lawyers messaging. In fact, they were exceptional at being able to tell whether the other side was effectively bluffing/over-stating their position or offering something legally dubious, or not.
Finally, as aforementioned, costs are important to note. Stowe's billing system is dreadful, unclear and difficult to understand. There were a number of times I had to challenge a bill because I did not understand where the costs came from. Some of these I was refunded for, others were perfectly legitimate and just poorly explained. Stowe would do well to improve their billing, and my recommendation would be that clients can log in and see costs in real time. Surprise bills are annoying, and while their standard for charging up front means I now leave debt free, managing cash flow through divorce is hard enough without what feels like randomly escalating £3k-£4k bills appearing.
However, the solicitors themselves are all cost conscious, and I did not find or feel any overbilling from them. In fact, they proactively looked for ways to let me save money. Overall, they are worth the money, are not more expensive than others in the market, and offer a really good quality service, allowing me to gain an outcome that I would not have been able to get otherwise, and ultimately move on from one of the most stressful times of my life.

5 star review, 5 star company and Sarah is simply 5 stars. She has helped me understand the process, explained everything in detail and she has supported me throughout the beginning of my case. I am very grateful to have her to help me and I know she will support me throughout. Thank you.

Having been attempting to negotiate my position independently for 3.5 years of a protracted separation I finally instructed solicitors and chose Stowe.
I chose Stowe due to their standing as a national company with a strong history and high Google ratings. I was aware that they were not the cheapest firm but believed that the additional cost would result in high quality standard of support.
I hoped for them to be transparent, communicative and trustworthy and provide a service that would leave me feel confident and reassured. Although this was my expectation the reality fell far from the mark and unfortunately this was the case from start to finish through my experience with them. Instead of a done with experience where I was aware of shared strategy, the process was dictated to me and I could only get answers or clarification through paying additional fees.
Initially, I had an introductory meeting with a senior solicitor that I had not chosen and although we talked through my case in detail the solicitor did not show an understanding of my situation in the correspondence that followed. The solicitor then was absent on numerous occasions and my case was left to be managed by junior solicitors who were actually far more effective. Despite this I was constantly overcharged for the senior solicitors oversight even for minor tasks. I was also made to pay for information that I did not request despite this information being easily accessible on the internet for free. When I challenged this not only did I receive no compensation I was also charged the cost of the call to discuss the issue. In addition, I regularly had emails unresponded to which I was charged for and when I did receive responses they were sometimes one line directions with no punctuation. It is shocking to me to receive this low level of correspondence and support despite the expensive cost of sending and receiving emails to my solicitor and the junior solicitors supporting her. Despite request the strategy of my case has never been discussed with me and I wonder if there has ever been one. After challenging this on numerous occasions I was told my court fees for initial FDA hearing would be just below £20 000. This was due to the level of work needed by my solicitor and their preferred council which they directed me to instruct. However, when reaching out to another firm comparative fees were nearly £10 000 cheaper with more economic yet suitable options offered for the FDA hearing. Following this I have closed my account with Stowe, however, I have spent in access of £5000-6000 and I am no further forward with my case. Having hoped for ethical and high quality representation the standard of support I was receiving was shockingly low.
Stowe have been the epitome of an organisation who seeks to protract, overcharge and delay proceeding in their own interest instead of supporting their clients in the most vulnerable financial situations.
I would advise anyone considering Stowe Family Law to think again. The standard of support I am now receiving is like night and day in comparison for the fraction of the costs. This is despite Stowe having still not releasing my case file even though it has been requested around a month ago.

Spoke to Anu Kaur - I was looking for some advice for a situation I found myself in. I found her advice very practical and helpful, and she helped me see a number of facets to my situation that I would otherwise not be aware of. Would definitely recommend conversations with her to help parse through complex situations.

I came to Mercedes with fear on which was the right way to move forward with our business and my personal settlement and pending divorce.
Mercedes did not at any time clock watch and allowed me the opportunity that I needed to get everything discussed in a timely manner even though we had a set amount of time paid for. She listened and gave me great advice and told me things that I had not expected, good and bad, but in the end turned it around into a positive experience.
