Stay Away!

Horrible company that engages in fraud and misrepresentation. From their agent, on my application, on their welcome letter, and in the contract, fixed annuity rate was described as the "guaranteed interest rate", compounded daily. When I could see what they were actually paying and calculated the rate, it was obvious they were paying much less than the stated rate. Called to report this and no one in customer service could explain the discrepancy. After weeks, was finally able to talk with a manager and was told the interest rate quoted was actually the "effective annual rate". Nowhere is the actual interest rate they are using stated in the contract. Only in very fine print and in only one place is the term "effective annual rate" used, despite using the term "guaranteed interest rate" verbally and in writing 4 times. Over the term of this contract they will cheat me out of over $4000. Beware!

URGENT REQUEST FOR AGENT ASSISTANCE

I really like Sentinel. HOWEVER... The algorithm for determining when a policy holder will get a rate increase seems to be undefined. I have asked several Sentinel reps over time how I should know when a client will get a rate increase, and none have been able to tell me how the increase date is triggered.

Other companies that I work with provide a notice to agents when each policy holder is due for a rate increase. Mutual of Omaha, for example, sends an email to me whenever a client's rate will be adjusted. That email is triggered by the same process that generates an announcement letter that is mailed to the policy holder. PLEASE do the same thing for Sentinel's Med Supp policy holders.

I have too many clients to check every month (via phone call to a Sentinel rep) to identify which of my clients will get a rate increase. I look stupid when a client calls me to say he/she got a rate increase and wants to know if it is still a competitive rate. (It almost always is still about the best rate, which is why I like Sentinel - but I want to be proactive, not reactive.)

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, provide some sort of notification to us agents when a rate increase has been triggered for individual policy holders.

Representatives speak with another…

Representatives speak with another Agent Rep. on the phone. That person, to us, is the representative of SSLCO.

I have always been pleased with whom I've spoken with. Question or information, they have always provided what I've needed.

I am an independent agent for Sentinel

I am an independent agent for Sentinel. Their application is very customer and agent friendly. They have some of the best rates around. Customer service is always a pleasure. I definitely plan to do more business with them.

I would like to feel confident when I submit business that it will be issued as I wrote it. I don't like to have business bounce back to a lower level. How can I do a better job of field underwriting?

Just added SSL

Just started and have only written a few policies. Application is straight forward and doesn’t need a lot of clarification. Phone interview isn’t too bad not the best but under 20 min most the time. Great product and great customer service

The only thing that kept from 5 stars…

The only thing that kept from 5 stars is the IMO Prosperity Advantage. By there own admission they are a Med Sup IMO, not FE.

They just want theoverides without even learning the product. One of many examples is, they sent an agent an application kit in SC, and told him to go write his client. Sentinel does not have product in SC.

Another would be, they told an agent he didn't need any type of PHI call.

They seem not interested in recruiting med sup agents. My operation sells millions per year of FE and it is really a shame I have to give an overide, to someone who has no clue about the product. A FE agent should always be able to tell someone why he is paying his upline an overide. Why should someone earn an overide for nothing?

I am new to Sentinel

I am new to Sentinel, but after being contracted they mailed information and applications so that I could get right into the particulars of the products that they offer. I appreciate that.
