Took delivery of a new cordless mower. Found a small part missing. Tried to contact them via email - first email address said try another one, second email address said nothing to do with them. Tried to phone them - was immediately "No 1 in the queue", 20 mins later still no reply. What a shambles.

I bought a tamper, the shaft sheared due to a poor selection of the wood with a transverse grain. I asked for a replacement and delivery of a new one arranged straight away. Thank you S&J for your service

I bought 6 large tins of this garden patio shed paint and it was a complete waste of money .
I also got a painter in and had to pay for him to apply coat after coat on my fences and decking .
The garden is an absolute mess the paint basically has removed with rain .I am absolute gutted a waste of time money .
I bought this from B,n,M and will be trying to get this rubbish removed from they're stores and I am contacting the company for a refund.
Do not buy this paint you will rgrt it

I purchased the E172 heavy duty automatic centre punch and, already having the E171 for many years without issue, I felt confident in my choice. The 'thing' that arrived can only be described as garbage, and an affront to engineering. Honestly I have made better tools than this with no more than a cordless drill, a hacksaw and an angle grinder. The first thing I discovered was the graunchy thread of the adjuster which felt like the threads had been formed using a hacksaw and I'm only hoping time and use will smooth the action. I was still reeling from that discovery when I found the spindle intermittently jams when the punch is used. At this point my morbid curiosity got the better of me and I decided to strip the offending item and investigate, my findings were less than encouraging; rust filled oil, rust fragments and incomplete grinding of the spindle. I cleaned everything off and reassembled only to find the same problem which feels like something is either bent or has been machined/ ground off centre. Spear & Jackson really should stick to making garden spades and equipment and leave engineers tools to companies who have not wholeheartedly sacrificed quality for profit. Eclipse was a once renowned name in the precision tool world but judging by this offering should now be confined to poundland. If I could have given 0 stars I would have.

Wood garden fork snapped in light use, 9 years and 11 months after purchase. Sent photos and within an hour Angela from the team had responded offering a replacement delivered free under guarantee. Great service and great when a company sticks to their word.

I have been trying to look for spares for my petrol chainsaw on many sites , & not easy to find right piston kit .
Why do a lot of these sites put many other makes on sites , & not the 1 were looking for !!? .

I Rang 3 Days ago to say that my garden fork had broken on the weld.
I was told it would be replaced free of charge under there 10 year guarantee.
Tracy from Customer Service was very helpful.
I received a new fork today.

I bought telescopic ratchet loppers, which worked wonderfully. So much so a contractor working in the garden wanted to buy the same. I got the cutter blades stuck high above me [over ambitious thickness of the branch] and twisted and pulled which cracked the hardened blade, my fault. I just enquired if spares existed and wanted to but a replace blade. They sent a FREE replacement. 5*

I bought Spear and Jackson lawn mower about 7 months ago. It works OK but I found the front wheels fragile and soon started to wobble. Then the grass collector started falling off because the fixing points were inadequate.
I modified both these quite easily making a much more durable product took some photos submitted them as suggestions
Since then nothing positive. Other than ‘not our department. Send it to another S/J dept
I did this but
Disappointed at no response after three weeks sent an email to the Sales Director to bring it to his notice
As of today
No reply
I think they are not interested in the practical experience of their products by customers despite being probably the most important feedback they can get and very short sighted
Won’t buy anything else from their range

I rarely write reviews but this product was so bad I just had to!
Went to a B&M store and bought a 9 litre timbercare fence stain tub for £5, reduced from £10!!! Considering a Cuprinol 9 litre is £26 at B&Q. Absolute BARGAIN! Almost giving it away at that price.
What a load of rubbish, stirred it well for a number of minutes but it was just like applying slightly coloured water to the fence, had no visible effect and it was supposed to be charcoal grey!!
As they say, you get what you pay for! Avoid this product like the plague!!

Very poor quality used to be such a reliable brand.

I have a Spear and Jackson 24v cordless lawn mower. It's about 4 years old and has failed due to a faulty controller pcb.
I contacted S&J customer service to get a new controller. They said we don't have them try ebay. There is no availability on ebay for the correct replacement so the mower is now basically scrap.
Poor customer service.

Brought some spear and jackson slate grey stain. I mixed it well as I've always done when I stain my sheds ..put spear and jackson on left it to the next day and gave them another coat and today after 3 months of putting it on ,it's raining and it's all blistering looks a right mess ...on shed I used another brand and no problem with that ......but I've used spear and jackson on 3 sheds all the same messy I'm going to phone and complain.

I purchased a pair of garden shears many moons ago and I cant fault them I even took on the job of trimming my conifers which were 30ft x 45ft length at approx 8ft tall did the job no problem,I get them sharpened every year because they are that good.

Bought a tub of fence paint in charcoal grey but turns out to be a bucket of stale water and has a smell to it and it's not a bucket of paint.

Spear and Jackson concentrate weed killer .what a load of rubbish.brought 3 cost £35 .might as well used washing up liquid. Weeds seem to thrive..

Avoid their products like the plague
I bought a garden shredder. The safety switch failed after a handful of uses. £250 wasted. It has a three-year guarantee but their customer service don’t reply. The unit is a sealed unit so can’t be repaired.
I bought one of their expensive stainless-steel spades. It bent after a handful of uses.
I purchased one of their strimmer’s with two strimmer wires. It jammed all the time from new and never worked. Total junk.
I bought a pair of their secateurs. Nearly new and they won’t cut anything. Roses just make them lock solid.
Their customer service, either via e-mail or phone, just ignore you completely.
All this stuff failed either immediately or after a handful of uses. Its your risk if you buy their junk made in China.

I have been buying spear and jackson gardening tools for many years under the impression that they are a good British company. It turns out that not only are most of the components of my lawn mower made in China and not in the UK but that Spear and Jackson are simply a NAME and have numerous Companies that produce and sell goods under the Spear and Jackson name. In short they don't recognise the serial number on my mower as they didn't make it and suggest I contact whomever made it. What a disgrace and a sham to use a name to make people believe they are buying a decent product especially be where electricals and batteries are concerned..
Don't get caught out by them.

Bought their charcoal grey fence paint and wished I had seen these reviews first. Worst paint I have ever bought, like dish water. They should not be allowed to sell such a bad item.

spear and jackson timbercare, very thin and watery - just runs off the brush, not what I would expect to see a fence paint to be like, can't see it lasting long at all - I wish I could charge spear and jackson for my time and money wasted, minus 5 stars would be a fair score.
