I have used South Downs bikes a number of times from buying riding gear to having full bikes built up. They have an Incredibly hard working team. Going above and beyond for me on more than 1 occasion... See more

friendly, helpful staff...easy to deal with and pleased with my purchase of a Brompton e bike...
Ordered new seat on standard delivery arrived two days later super service just as it was when i bought my bike last year.
Excellent product choices and very swift and efficient delivery! Top marks!! Thank you - highly recommended
Good prices on bike equipment and excellent over the phone service.
My light arrived on time and as described.
Very competitive price & fast dispatch. I'm new costumer but i will definitely recommend this shop. Very happy with my purchase. Big thanks
Bought a Levo SL and it was delivered within 3 days and delivered by their delivery driver. Great experience.
Just ordered a seat from them and was reasonably priced, free postage and it came when it was supposed to. That is all.
Told to wait 2 weeks while rear shock was sent off to Fox for repair…
2 weeks later I call to chase it up - the shock hadn’t even left the South Downs workshop!! The bike had just sat there.
Left waiting a further 6 weeks!
The service diary is apparently always ‘stacked out’ with long waiting times, yet the mechanic is either absent or standing around chatting to staff. Makes you wonder where or who is undertaking repairs.
Besides these issues the sales team are reasonably friendly and parts fairly priced for a independent local bike shop. But if you cannot fulfil customer servicing properly don’t pretend this is part of the business.

Quick despatch of goods, quick delivery, great product, what's not to like..
I bought a Trek bike for £2850 from the store in Goring-by-sea, Worthing in July, after taking a test ride on 1st July. My understanding was that the bike would be fully set up and prepared by Southdown bikes to be ready for my collection.
My bike is stored safely in my apartment as I don’t have a garage. On the 22nd July, less than a week after purchasing the bike, I was lifting my bike from one room to another where I have a proper bike stand to store it safely (no pedalling or anything) when the chain jumped, and the chain stopper didn’t do what it’s supposed to! The chain got stuck in the big chain ring/cog and it didn’t want to come out. I managed it eventually but got my hands scratched in the process and the frame of the bike itself got badly scratched.
I took my bike to my local mechanic and then another Trek dealer nearby, and I learned that this could only happen if the initial set up was wrong.
When I made contact with the guys in Worthing, they weren’t interested in taking any responsibility, until customer services at Trek contacted them and told them to sort it out. They agreed to come and collect the bike (on the 23rd); they returned it a day or so later. But of course the scratches on the bike frame were still there and no explanation was forthcoming as to what had actually happened to the bike.
Trek promised to sort it out at no cost to me; but the workshop that would do the frame repair and re-spray was too busy to take it on straight away. Eventually I was advised by Trek to take it in to another dealer nearby where I left it for the work to be carried out.
Now here we are ita the November and there is no word of when the bike will be ready. I contacted them this week and was told it would be another 5/6 weeks just to get the bike returned from re-spray. Then it will have to be booked in for reassembly… for when that can be done.
So instead of being able to enjoy my cycling activities as expected through the autumn, I have already been without a bike for months, after spending nearly £3,000 on a new one!
Added to all of that, I learned some while after taking delivery of the bike on 17th July that a bag full of documentation and attachments for the bike should have been supplied with the bike when I picked it up. But I was never given this. I had to chase up South Down Bikes in Worthing three times before I got the bag, and even then the full pack wasn’t supplied initially because some parts were missing.
This whole situation is, to my mind, extremely poor service. A disaster from my point today view! I wish I had bought my bike from a reliable dealer.
I emailed Martin Richardson several times at the store and he is far from interested in my complaint - he’s not even responding anymore to my emails.
I would certainly consider buying elsewhere, they will disappear at the first problem.
On a good note, the customer service at Trek was incredible!
Thank God for that!
Very disappointed with the service I received from this company. Was quoted one price and charged another with no explanation and a forced apology with a poor attitude. Having run my own retail business I know the importance of good customer service and goodwill. Will not be using again.
