I purchased a £109 stunt scooter from Skates.co.uk in September 2025. Less than 7 months later, the chromoly handlebars—specifically marketed for their strength—suffered a dangerous structural snap during a landing.
Despite this being a clear issue of durability and "fitness for purpose" under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, customer service (Alex) has repeatedly refused any remedy. They are attempting to hide behind a 90-day "supplier warranty," which does not supersede UK statutory law.
Incredibly, the company’s justification for denying the claim was that the bars broke because they were "pulled back on landing." As this is a stunt scooter, it is specifically designed for landings. Claiming a product failed because it was used for its intended purpose is an admission that the product is not fit for purpose.
This is a significant safety concern, and the dismissive attitude toward consumer law is unacceptable. I have now been forced to initiate a chargeback via my bank and will be reporting the structural failure to Trading Standards. Parents beware: if your child’s scooter fails safely within a year, do not expect this company to stand by their product.

My son asked for a new scooter for his birthday, so I ordered and PAID for next day delivery. It did not arrive on the date that they advised when ordering, very disappointing service.
