Avoid at all cost. Use at your peril and if you do use them even the 30 day free trial be prepared to pay the 1st month fully. The scam aspect of this organisation is that you are required to submit your credit card information even for the 30 days trial. However what they don't make clear is how to cancel your subscription. You then inform your card payment provider such as PayPal and they then agree with Scribd and uphold the payment
I had to delete all my card details with PayPal and delete my account in order to stop PayPal making payments. Difficult time consuming and above all a waste of your time. These are con artist tricks of a scale beyond acceptable.

Taking money after I cancelled
I would give this zero stars if possible. I ended a free trial months ago and now they’re taking money without authorization. I didn’t catch it for a while because it seems to be hit and miss. They will only communicate through email and are having difficulty helping me because I don’t have an account! I had to change my card. It’ll be a miracle if they refund my money.

Rubbish company, wish I could give negative stars for wasting my time!
Purported to offer a service manual for a New Holland excavator E18SR, so I signed up. Having downloaded the manual, I found it is just preliminary pages, (junk and safety notes) and finishes with a link to another website where you can download the manual for a further payment of $19! (And would risk doing that? Probably only then get Chapter 1 without paying some more!)
Money grabbing company. What a total con!

The new app is expensive,but has a deep selection that is at least as good as Audible. Most of the people whinning here would never be satisfied anyway.I wonder who actually has time to read more than 2-3 books a month. Another great benefit of the expanded selection is that you can sometimes sample an entire hour of an audiobook before unlocking. Some have said switching from a Legacy subscription means you'll lose you prior library entirely.That doesnt seem to be the case,because most of my prior listens or reads now say unlocked. This isn't Audible and even with Audible your are effectively paying for a perpetual rental. It does cost more,but my 200 paid books can even be listened to after unsubscribing. Do yourself a favor and try this for a month and once they again establish a yearly subscription I'm all again for as long as possible. Thanks for a great app that has taught me so many great things and many books I liked so much I re-read them 10 years later. Your the best and Audible is now mostly good for taking advantage of it's introductory offers only.

I canceled my account last year after their service began to go downhill, only to be charged for another year's subscription this past week. I've just discovered that this company is sharing one of my copyrighted sewing patterns on their website. People can download it from their website for free. It's completely illegal as I wrote that sewing pattern and have copyright protection for it. Whatever this site is, don't trust it. They clearly have no respect for indie designers and our income!

You can't go a single minute in Scribd without a membership, without seeing an AD. When you make a free account on this website, you are only given a small amount of Ctrl+Cs you can press until you have to pay for the free trial. It baffles me on how you must PAY to copy and download. They give you an option to upload five original documents to get free copies and downloads. From what I've seen in the reviews, most people have been CHARGED even when they have CANCELLED THEIR SUBSCRIPTIONS. It makes me think I am solving a physics question when I try to figure out why this is a popular choice amongst readers and people looking to distribute documents online.

I cancelled my membership with Scribd in April 2025. They have been charging me through Paypal every month since then even after I deleted the account associated. I've reached out to there support email with NO REPLY! I would not recommend anyone use their services for anything.

Crooks! STAY AWAY
Crooks!! Stay away! I canceled my membership months ago and they continued to charge me FOR FOUR MONTHS. When I wrote in to complain, they said they had no record of my membership. PayPal also denied my claim even though I gave them the cancellation email. These guys are utter trash and obviously scamming people.

Don't bother downloading - you can't.
When Scribd was first set up, it was a reasonable gateway to obtaining documents (e.g., long out-of-print workshop manuals), either by uploading documents to download documents or by paying (do NOT do the latter). However, lately (as of Nov 2025), the tit-for-tat upload and download has become ridiculous. You now need to upload 5 documents to download one. They don't accept anything less than 10 pages, and uploading anything larger than say 300kb in size doesn't upload (circle of eternal death appears). When you finally are able to upload documents, the circle of death appears again and the document you wanted never downloads. Scribd is broken and no longer serves any purpose, which is a shame as there are documents on there that can't be found anywhere else. Avoid like the plague.
