I am 14 years old and was going in to get some ice creams I had got them and had a phone call so I answered it and put the ice creams on the shelf it was only me and my friend in the shop and the worker who was a man said , if your not getting it put it back this isn't your house you don't throw shit about. I said no problem but there is no need to swear I had put them back and then he went over to the other worker and said , I don't like the look of his face. I had just decided to get a juice pay and leave I had went outside and got my bike and he came out and said , do you want barred and said my attitude was horrible. I had decided to walk away

Bad service and language

Warrender Park Road Edinburgh 24/2/26 - Disappointed to hear male attendant behind tills talking loudly giving his extreme angry political opinions dropping several expletives and F-bombs whilst talking to a customer and at the same time ignoring other customers. Not a good look and not what i’d expect when shopping.

Went into store today 24/02/2026 for a hot roll at 1:30 and asked the member of staff what was in the wrapped up offerings as I couldn't see he sarcastically responded and was very rude. I responded by leaving the store and therefore not making any purchases. Very very disappointed

Till employee extremely disinterested…

Till employee extremely disinterested in her job, or helping me as an older customer. When I made her aware of the eggs being in the wrong place showing the price for a different product (price tag was £2 while they scanned at £3.50) she just bloody rolled her eyes at me with a big sigh saying 'it's fine..' and she went on to serve others. No apology, not checking the price or product placement, no smile either. She looked like I was some sort or annoying thing that she just wanted rid off. I will definitely NEVER shop there again. I rather walk 10 min further and go to Tesco Express.

Pumpherston Scotmid is dire, staff are miserable.

The Pumpherston branch is absolutely dire. The queue can be all the way down to the alcohol & they’ll still only have one person on & they have zero issues about chatting away to their friends when serving.
Then there’s the ones with a shocking attitude. One Friday afternoon is was packed, one of the staff that don’t work a Friday complained really loudly about how busy it was. Her co-worker told her it was always busy at that time on a Friday, for her to say that she will “never be back working a Friday, fckn terrible this is”. It’s not the first time I’ve heard this particular lady complaining. If she doesn’t want to work in a busy mini supermarket, why work there?

Brilliant Marcus at Colinton Mains Branch

Many, many thanks to the wonderful Marcus at the Colinton Mains store in Edinburgh. I had to go down for several days for a vinted parcel that said it has been delivered but was not at the store. Yesterday Marcus phoned me so say it had not come in (so saved me time and a drive to the store) but today, as soon as it arrived, he phoned me. Employees as helpful as Marcus are hard to find. Keep a hold of him (and give him a bonus).

Never have stock advertised!

Placed several orders through snappy shopper who DO NOT have the option for "substitues" due to not being able to get out in bad weather, 3 times they haven't had what i ordered & sent a "substitute" of their choice... which is ridiculous! ie, cheese is no comparison to chicken!! Etc, here's a idea...when you get a delivery notification CHECK if you have that stock before accepting it! You have customers phone numbers...ASK them if they would like a "substitute" and when you have "deals" but have ran out of 1 item DON'T send the other 1 or 2 & charge full price! Litteraly the worst shop i have encountered on that app.

Inaccessible

The store has so much stuff in that they've stacked everything in the aisles. I could not get in with my Rollator. When I told staff that this was not ok they couldn't have given a shit and said they have nowhere to put the stuff (maybe don't order so much then). Completely inaccessible that even when walking it's a squeeze.

Overpriced and staff are clueless

Prices are ridiculously high. The morning rolls have gone much smaller lately and are extortionate. The staff never smiles and are clueless. Best to shop elsewhere. Hopefully the last time I go to the ferry road branch in Edinburgh.

Terrible CM Service from a Manager

Scotmid Tullichewan Drive Balloch. Asked Tom the morning Manager if I could select rolls from the fresh pack behind the counter, he told me I had to select from the crusty rolls in the basket. The 7 rolls that were in the basket had been handled and poked by others as they had no selection tool. What a disappointment, a disgusting attitude from a Manager. He should be made to attend a customer awareness training course.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

I visited the Old Kilpatrick branch today, where I encountered the manager, Mr. Matthew Green, who displayed a considerable lack of professionalism. Upon my arrival, he immediately remarked that I should refrain from bringing my dog into the establishment without first obtaining permission. It is important to note that my dog, a 16-week-old Cava poo, is currently undergoing training as a service animal. He has successfully accompanied me throughout various locations in Scotland and England, including esteemed five-star hotels and bed and breakfasts, without any complaints.

I presented the official identification card bearing my dog's photograph, yet Mr. Green continued to be uncooperative and dismissive. In contrast, the female staff members at the shop were courteous, helpful, and understanding. Regrettably, the male manager's behavior was beneath standard expectations; he appeared to spend more time outside the store indulging in vaping rather than attending to customers.

Having resided in Old Kilpatrick for my entire life, I have decided to cease my patronage of this establishment. I have also heard from fellow residents about their dissatisfaction with the service provided.

I feel bad only giving 1 star as almost all of the staff in the Jamestown Alexandria branch are lovely. Just one very rude older woman who spoils it. At first I thought she just did not like me the way she spoke to me or ignored me but having voiced this so many people have said they feel the same about her. Just such a shame one rotten apple can spoil things.

i would put 0 stars but..

i would put 0 stars but that isnt possible. the atmosphere in this shop has completely gone downhill from new staffing to prices being raised sky high. the past few years i have lived here everyone is lovely. then something must have happened resulting in pretty much completely new staff. now staff are continuously changing and can barely hold small talk. the younger staff general tend to be nice and will have a wee conversation but on the other hand the store manager never has a smile on her face and always looks grumpy. this new manager was extremely rude to a customer who just asked for extra sauce on a burger. also the workers need to be trained better on licensing as multiple employees have gotten age id-ing wrong for certain drinks (energy drinks and alcohol) i would recommend you be nicer to your customers as they bring the shop together. its clear this shop will not last long.

a complaint I just made to customer service

That complaint just made to customer service:

Dear madam/sir

I’ve been to your branch in 34 Warrender park road Edinburgh EH91HH for groceries and to pay my house rental, I gave my allpay card to joe (branch supervisor) to make the transaction but I notice when he gave the receipt that one digit of the card is missing which mean the £150 I paid him went to somebody else’s account, I ask to rectify but failed and tried to refund me the money but failed again, he called Christie (branch supervisor) to sort out the problem but she failed as well, she said that staff are not well trained to deal with
allpay cards.
Now it’s been 1.30 hour since I’ve been in the shop, it’s 22.24pm and because I insisted in getting my money back and because of that they called the police on me, I haven’t spoke the them yet but I’m getting the incident number from them and I will definitely getting in touch with the local trade standard to let them know about the situation.
If it’s how you treat your customer , then better retrain your staff on how to deal with people’s in a professional and proper manner.
Update : police incident number 3849
Out of £150, staff don’t want to give me the name of the store manger and when he’ll be in…

***Check your receipt!!!***

The store manager tonight in Edinburgh, Portobello, brazenly admitted that the product I wanted to buy was being listed and priced as another, completely different and much more expensive item. I requested to pay the proper price but the manager then demanded that he could only sell me the item for the wrong product price because otherwise, it would supposedly affect his stock/sales report. He didn't admit how much of this product he already sold at the higher incorrect price and was completely unapologetic.
