I had a very thorough and detailed discussion with Wil prior to him examining my scalp. His diagnosis and treatment plan were so reassuring and professional. He gave me much needed information regarding my hair loss and was very empathetic and knowledgable which, in turn, helped my confidence. I left the appointment with a really positive feeling and hopeful that my hair loss was treatable. He has been the first clinician to look at my scalp in detail and offered some positive treatment options.

The kind and capable consultants at Root Cause Clinical managed to provide the only patient-centered and evidence based assessment of my scalp affliction that I received in over a year of constant in-person visits with US providers, and they did it remotely, via video consult from overseas! They took a thorough account of my medical history, my current situation, studied the photos I’d taken with a Woods Lamp type machine I purchased in desperation after having been gaslit by countless biased American clinicians—none of whom could even be bothered to glance at the pictures. Unfortunately, I had not yet had my genome sequenced at the time, but I even noticed that they did have a spot for that information should the client choose to provide it. By contrast, none of the doctors or nurses here seemed to be even vaguely aware of the significance of genomics in medical diagnoses and treatment. In fact, they did not care to consider any of the above—my medical history, present complaints, evidence-based diagnostic testing—and made their judgments solely from preconceived notions derived from inaccurate, shared provider notes and assumptions based on my appearance and stereotypical stigma. So, to this day, I have yet to receive treatment for the horrific affliction that has scarred my entire neck and more, but to their credit, the qualified individuals at Root Cause Clinical made a strong, positive impression on me and gave me hope that healthcare is only a shameful sham here in the U.S., and that perhaps one day providers in other developed nations can show them the way to redemption.

Wil was friendly and easy to talk to. I enjoyed being able to do the consultation online as it saved me a lot of money on travel and accommodation etc. My Trichologist was very informative with options but did not push me into anything unnecessary. Once you have selected a time and date for the appointment, you need to a very thorough form with questions around lifestyle, diet, family and personal medical history, hair/scalp problems and current hair treatment. The form gave me the right mindset before the session so that I could critically assess how I treat my hair, what my be affecting my hair/scalp issues and what I am looking for from Root Cause.

My appointment with Wil went quite smoothly. He carefully explained what the most common issues with hair and scalp are and made sure I understood what he was saying. We discussed my condition for a fair bit until he detailed a diagnosis building on the common issues we had already discussed. He recommended several approches and was always keen on hearing my questions. He recommended two products (product A cost £70 for a 3 month supply and product B cost £26 for about a 5 month supply). that I am quite happy with albeit still early days.

I received a follow up email 60 hours after the appointment including a seven page document detailing everything we had discussed: symptoms, factors, diagnosis, care/treatment and next steps. I have also been in touch with Wil multiple times to clarify some questions I had on proper use of products and to manage expectations.

Both my initial appointment and follow up were a very good experience. Prior to both appointments I was sent a questionnaire to fill out which was easily done and very self explanatory. At both appointments Wil explained things well, went into lots of details and gave ample opportunities to ask any questions I might have.
