Shipping costs

Good afternoon, usually rock auto has good and a variety of prices to select from but in my opinion and some people that I know ,you end up paying more than in some other places.this is due to their high shipping prices costs.they need to figure out how to lower these costs with the carriers.

Overall? AMAZING!

Thank you to Rock Auto! I learned about them through an online forum, and have been nothing but pleased with the quality of service! I have an older vehicle (2004 Chrysler Crossfire), and have been able to find what I needed without an issue! Super fast shipping, amazing updates on the shipping process, and prices that are hard to beat! Thank you to Team Rock Auto for helping keep my car running!

I was excited to buy my starter until...I received it

I was excited to buy my starter given their decent price though...What I received did not match their own picture of the item, which in fact matched the picture from the manufacturer. After I installed the starter it had a loud noise like something internal was bad. My old unit worked so I put it back on. I tried sending the part back and they led me through a series of questions and immediately after I responded that I fully installed the part in my vehicle, they denied the return with the reason the part was not intended to be installed in my vehicle. Once denied, you have ABSOLUTELY NO way to contact them. This was the worst experience I've ever had with an online company. The part I received matched a rebuilt part from a Chinese company rather than the brand new part from the car's OEM, that I paid for.

Ordered parts on 3/8/26, poor customer service,

Ordered parts on 3/8/26, spark plugs coming from Huron, OH, (which happens to be in state), and coil packs, which came from Arlington, TX. Parts should arrive 3/12/26. Parts from Texas arrived on 3/12/26. Parts from in state of Ohio were delayed until 3/16/26, then delayed again until 3/20/26, then actually arrived on 3/18/26. I had to buy the spark plugs locally to get the vehicle running right, and, of course, Rock Auto is blaming this on the carrier for late delivery, and won’t refund any shipping charges. After using this company for approx. 15 years, will probably find other sources and start going elsewhere. Reading reviews, looks like they’ve gotten too big and can’t handle their customers needs, putting their own needs first. Which one pays the bills, customer’s return business, or company’s needs?

If I could give ZERO stars

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. They charged my account for over $200. When I didn't purchase anything from them. I disputed the charges and they didn't refund the money. They are unethical thieves.

part didn’t fit, wouldn’t refund

sent the wrong thermostat for my 2007 5.3 Silverado. didn’t even come close to fitting, then they said the shipping cost was worth more than the $5 part even though i paid like $13 total including shipping, so they wouldn’t give me a refund

No longer using due to constant errors

Used to use Rock Auto for everything. However, using my VIN they somehow still sent me one incorrect fuel line, two incorrect tank straps, and incorrect connectors.

Again, I added my VIN and they STILL sent me incorrect parts. My truck has been left disassembled for over 3 weeks because of the constant mistakes, so now I'm stuck trying to find new parts locally.

Save yourself a ton of anger and just look local or order from Parts Geek or something. Anything other than here!

I spent a lot of extra money for faster…

I spent a lot of extra money for faster shipping because I'm going out of state next week. I literally paid extra for it to be here today and now they are saying a week from now because they haven't even got it to ups yet. News flash that's called robbery and fraud. You can't sale a service that you can't follow through on. I could have just kept my extra money. It's sad we can't even trust businesses to be honest.

This outfit sucks

This outfit sucks. No customer service phone means they really don't care about anything except getting your money. I bought an a/c compressor kit to fix up my 2008 Forester. They send out a unit that's been sitting on a shelf for 6 years and had dried out o-rings. When it failed after three days I'm on the hook for a 100 mile round trip twice more and $368 more in labor and freon recharge after my mechanic repairs their compressor. Now the clowns want me to return their compressor so I can start all over again.
I wouldn't buy a sparkplug from these bums.

If I could leave 0 stars I would

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Ordered a $12 part paid $20 to have it delivered in 2 days. It didn't arrive on time the automated system informed me they don't guarantee delivery times. I think I would be owed compensation for it not being delivered on time and i don't think DHL is going to reimburse me.

They will not reimburse for non-delivered goods

If anything happens with the order or with goods (such non delivery by carrier, damaged goods, wrong parts sent), Rock Auto will not reimburse for taxes and shipping.

I am currently in a situation that an issue on their end result in wrong address on the label which them resulted in UPS picking up and then returning the goods without delivering them. RockAuto only reimbursed the costs and not the shipping charged and not the taxes. They refuse the reimburse the rest and refuse to acknowledge their mistake. Their email only (no other way to contact them) response: we don't take responsibility and then they just ignore any emails.

You will have to go file recharge through your credit card and hope that it is not visa or master card as they are not pro-customer.

I would recommend staying away from Rock Auto. If you must order, use Amex or Discover - they are more fair with charge backs in case Rock Auto tries to screw you.

Terrible non-existant customer service

I ordered rotors and pads for the front end of my truck. I verified they were the correct part numbers to fit my exact make and model for the veichle. While getting an oil change at my mechanic shop, they do a 47 point inspection and found the pads were not making contact with rotors. After a good break inspection it was found that the pads were faulty and not wearing properly and in turn warping the rotors

I attempted to rectify this through rock Autos part warrenty proccess only to find:

-No cutomer contact/ no customer service line/ no customer online chat
-A basic and vague website instruction process hwo to make a warrenty claim, where the only options are to buy the parts again, have them shipped to you and then return the old ones for a refund(you pay for return shipping) or Return the old parts right away(you pay for shipping) and they send you new parts.

I did not want new parts, I could not leave the shop with front brakes that don't work and are unsafe to drive. So I had new rotors/pads installed. Just want my money back for the faulty parts from Rock Auto. I took pictures and have the mechanics findings in a report.

Buyer Beware-Almost no customer service or support so roll the dice when buying from them. Next time ill be purchasing from a company with good customer support and i'll be sure to read the company reviews before purchasing.

HORRIBLE packaging.

Ordered a battery from a third-party that came with rockauto paperwork and packaging. The box came very beat up I remained optimistic thinking rock auto would have taken due care with their packaging inside the box to protect the battery from damage. When I opened the box to my surprise, the battery was wrapped in a thin piece of cardboard with a handful of packaging peanuts and deflated airbags just thrown on top. Very aggravated at the situation spending $200 on a battery and then it comes with a negative terminal bent over and a corner cracked and multiple mechanics refusing to install it.

UPDATE!

My initial review was a negative one. Rock Auto Customer Service has reached out to me via email, and have resolved the situation. I will be shipping my parts back and will be receiving a refund according to customer service.

For anyone having problems, have some patience and I think they will help you.

Avoid them

Avoid them. I ordered a Standard Motor Products turn signal switch for $76.79. There is a Rostra turn signal switch on the site listed for $51.79. I received the Rostra switch in a SMP box. Rockauto told me that sometimes the manufacturer sources products from other companies and sells them as their own and that they have no control over the supply chain. I just wanted the $24 difference. They refused.

Several issues here:
- I did not order any turn signal switch that Standard Motor Products determines is a switch that they claim. I ordered a specific part number.
- I did not do business with the manufacturer. I did business with Rockauto to procure the part that was ordered.
- Customer support did not address the underlying issue and just said that it is a SMP product (again not THE SMP product ordered) and that they could not refund.

Going through the chargeback process. Pathetic response from customer support. Pathetic company practices. Pathetic leadership. Pathetic experience. Distributor that doesn't manage their vendors and pretends it's on you. Literally no value in Rockauto if this is the case. Makes them no more than a parasite in the supply chain.
