Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 334 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about unhelpful customer service representatives, confusing automated phone systems, and extremely long waiting times when trying to reach someone for help. Many individuals also experienced unexpected extra fees, delayed fund transfers, and frustrating account restrictions that made managing their daily money very difficult. Some people were satisfied with helpful staff members who provided kind assistance, clear information, and professional guidance during their branch visits. Certain reviewers truly appreciated friendly representatives who successfully resolved specific banking questions and made complex financial processes much easier to navigate successfully.

Shannon Obrian at towne centre Edmonton

I was dealing with Shannon Obrian at Towne centre branch in Edmonton about my dads will and banking info. Shannon was just awesome explaining to me about the process and helping me through the steps of the will and of being Executor above and beyond and always spending as much time as i needed. Cant thank her and the staff at RBC enough.

RBC British Airways Visa: A Caution for Existing RBC Customers

I’m sharing this experience as a caution to anyone considering the RBC 'British Airways' Visa card, particularly existing RBC customers who may assume that the advertised welcome offer applies to them.

We applied after seeing an online advertisement promoting a welcome bonus of 60,000 Avios points for meeting specified spending thresholds. Relying on that offer, we switched from our previous RBC credit card and fulfilled the required spending criteria within the stated time frame.

About eight months later, after following up on the missing points, we were told that we were not eligible for the bonus because we were already RBC customers when we switched cards. That critical limitation was not clearly disclosed in the extensive advertising materials and appeared only in the fine print.

From a customer’s perspective, this is difficult to view as anything other than misleading. The primary reason we chose the card was effectively unavailable to us, despite our meeting the advertised requirements. Had this restriction been presented clearly and prominently in the extensive advertising materials, we would not have made the switch.

For that reason, I would strongly encourage others—especially current RBC clients—to examine all eligibility conditions carefully before applying. In our case, what appeared to be a valuable offer was ultimately undermined by inadequate disclosure.

This experience has significantly undermined our trust in RBC’s credit card marketing practices, which is particularly disappointing given our long-standing relationship as loyal RBC customers.

Very good to deal with aside getting ahold of fraud department

I really like RBC. They understand times are tough and deposited a one time $100 for free. I’ve never seen a review on other banks doing the same. I like that you can speak to customer service through the app. I would have put 5 stars but I’ve been unable to log into my account for well over 2 weeks now, the general support line tried to help and said to reach out to the fraud service if I can’t log into or go into the branch. I live over an hour from my home branch so i am unable to make time to go, ive been trying to reach the fraud line and i have not been able to get through.

Try to get verified to get info on your credit card

Try to get info on your credit card, cancel one, anything the AI is horrible. If you ever get an 'advisor" they often can't "verify" you because they ask stupid, and irrelevant questions....like what is your "issue number?" clue: there IS NO issue # for a credit card! Then you have to go to a branch to resolve the issue. CASH IS KING!!

Absolutely the worst customer service in the world

Royal Bank of Canada needs auditing, their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. Takes hours to get through to anyone and then they cant see my accounts, was then given a totally non-existent email address to send my complaint to, my email bounced back immediately. Did an international transfer and was charged fees even though my account clearly states that RBC do not charge fees, tried to get the fees refunded and no response from RBC. Needless to say that I have closed all my account with this pathetic excuse of a bank. DO NOT BANK WITH RBC!

Many issues

Many issues, couldn't sign into my banking as they changed the process, didn't inform me, couldn't get past the bot for several attempts. spoke to an agent, she was helpful, and clarified the changes. Want to apply for a new credit card, but can't get past hold to discuss some of the details. I am now into this for about 3 hours..I have been with RBC for almost 60 years, the service is terrible now. Time to explore different banks.

The worst

The worst. Incompetence beyond belief. Months of people not doing their jobs, even once accounts were closed, cards shredded, they charged annual fees, resulting in credit score lowering by a lot! When we finally realized and called several people promised the charge was reversed and credit restored. Months later, new charges still and credit still damaged. These are absolute fools. No one at this bank does anything or cares. Absolute trash, doesn't deserve to be a bank. NO TRUST.
Not to mention the initial reason for leaving was because of years of broken contracts, lies, and incompetence regarding professional line of credit in the first place. Garbage.

Incredibly difficult to transfer money

Incredibly difficult to transfer money. It seems there are daily limits which change at random. Some days I can transfer 1000 CAD, others 2000, others not even 100. Missed rent payments because of this. The bank says its for my security :/

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service, extremely unnecessary convoluted automated system, designed to make to go away in frustration because they are too cheap to Hire real people, yet charge unexplained exorbitant fees at their ATM. They do not care about people only $. Time to contact a class action lawyer, they are doing everything they can to avoid their customers. What a disgrace!

Another unhappy customer

After paying off my car loan within a few days of opening it,RBC still took out a payment many days later, telling me that it takes quite a few days to actually close the loan. You would think that with computers and so called professional financial advisors,it could have been done immediately. This is an institution I would never do anymore business with and would advise anyone else to stay away from.

Very bad customer service experience

My GIC was matured yesterday. I checked my online banking yesterday. It was not in my account. RBC delayed to release the funds even it was matured already. Until now, the funds have not reached my account yet. I called RBC call center for assistance. Toy at RBC call center was very slow in answering my question and found all kind of excuses and repeat same answers at all the times. He even refused to transfer me to the manager when he was unable to solve the problem. This is terrible.

The Middle Man

I dont know how the bank here in canada called royal can be given much props. They change rules to suit them selves and call it customer service. Acting as a middle man between cheque deposits they are 5 out of 5 for non-constructive. They place u as the criminal and then cash the criminals cheques. You, I am speaking as is the honest person. I dont also get nsf s unless they need my money. Proven fact.

Now i am going to rinse my mouth out and carry on. There is better and other out there.just trying to help someone else avoid the qches and pains as the gain.

I dont want to speak to an advisor thanks, ill pass.

I had a charge taken out of my Royal…

I had a charge taken out of my Royal chequing bank account for $16.66 through PayPal and Visa. I reported.it to the bank and they told me I had to go through PayPal. I called PayPal they checked all what they could and said I would have to go to the bank to get it straightened out. I went to the bank and they told me I would have to phone Royal Bank visa and they would have to do it for me. I did that and they couldn't do anything because they couldn't verify me for some reason. Pretty well fed up with it all. I went back down to the bank and they told me I had to wait for a long line up for 45 minutes to get waited on. Instead I went online and opted for a phone call back to verify me. The service at the bank was p poor and the Royal Bank Visa online was no help either. Terrible service all the way around. If I had to open up another bank account it would certainly not be Royal Bank of Canada. As it is now I understand ripped off for $16.66 through Royal Bank somewhere. All I wanted to do in the first place is just find out where the charge was made at. It was marked SAMUELL -$16.66. If I can find out where the transaction is made then it's possible that I did make that transaction but I do not know because I cannot find any help and do not recognize the transaction that was marked as SAMUELL

This company doesn't care about the…

This company doesn't care about the customer's. It ai system is taking jobs, and there is no way of getting any help from any one there. I was able to access funds off a mobil check deposit, they changed that amount to a useless amount without telling me. Then hold the check for alot longer then normal. The call the police on me because i was gettingad on the phone. That check is no different then cash, cash is a promise note, same as a check. Are they going to start holding cash deposits because of counterfit bills??????? Where is my money

I went into the bank to deposit a check…

I went into the bank to deposit a check into my account, it was a fairly large check. The teller had the nerve to ask me how I got that money. And then she proceeded to ask me what I was going to do with that money. Is this customary for tellers to ask the banks customers how they got their money and what they’re going to do with it? Is this something that the royal bank asks their tellers to do? I didn’t answer either one of the questions. I just looked at her. I thought it was highly inappropriate and none of her business.
