Had some really disappointing and long drawn out problems with Rationel Windows. We're now 12 months into this process of trying to resolve but still little resolution on the horizon. General problems of quality finish, split timber, flaking paint, contamination within the paint now showing through as discolouration, there are no friction hinges although these were sold as having friction stays. Biggest problem to date is that one of our sashes fell out and we had to get a glazing company in to complete and emergency repair. Our experience from all these problems, we would not recommend Rationale Windows.

We chose Rationel to replace most the windows, including French doors in our old stone cottage in County Kilkenny which had been last renovated in about 1992 with single glazed windows. We knew the sort of thing we wanted , with double glazing and timber being a priority. Their showroom in Cork enabled us to see the range of what they did. We chose the aluclad exterior on timber because of the exposed position of the house and we were able to look at the full range of rall colours to choose what suited us. They gave a full quote initially on our measurements. Their fitter came when they said he would and checked the measurements and the adjusted quote remained reasonable. We accepted the quote in early September and the windows were ready in early November. We agreed a fitting date and their fitters (not the same one who measured up) did a 3 day turnaround arriving each day at the crack of dawn and clearing up each evening. Shortly following fitting we needed an adjustment on one of the windows. We rang and their fitters came promptly and sorted it. The office staff and all the fitters were friendly and professional. The windows themselves have made a noticeable difference to the internal temperature and have been admired by friends, including the previous owner of the house. The safety catches are a bit fiddly, but they wouldn’t be safety catches if they weren’t. Hopefully the windows will stand the test of time.

RATIONEL solved the 4 problems we identified in the AURAPLUS 2016 Windows and Windows-Doors therefore it is only fair that we change our review from 1* to 4*.

CONCLUSION
-RATIONEL took notice of the problems identified, went back to their R&D department and introduced a specification change in their product to provide us with a solution.
-RATIONEL listened to its customer's comments and made an effort to improve its products based on customer's feedback.
-RATIONEL provided all these fixes free-of-charge and in a timely manner.
