I’ve always managed to get a tradesman in to do the work required. Only one negative is Rated people close your job after maximum 3 quotes!

Tom from Drayton Property services did three 'small jobs for me. Two he did were ok, but the third, moving a floating shelf from one position to another was a disaster. It looked ok when he completed the job, so I paid him. After he left I placed some stationary items on the shelf and it collapsed. It was a botched job. I phoned him and he said he would come back the next day and fix it. Since then, despite many attempts to contact him by phone and a text message, I have never heard from him. He has disappeared but kept the money.

China (Manjit) communicated with me when he was on his way. He turned up on time and was honest about the job that needed doing. Told me exactly what needed to be done. Was very polite, friendly and was very professional and helpful and I would definitely use him again.

the company was J.Ireland plumbing, all i can say was the guy was down to earth very honest & reasonable wth pricing & giving me an oppertunity to reveiw the work at every stage & document (through photo's)also the clea up attitude was second to none i have experienced in the past left the job with verh minimal cleaning for myself to do which he was upfront about before the job commenced so overall i would rate J.Ireland plumbing with a 5 star review.

Usman called and offered to do the job same day and quoted a price. He was delayed and arrived later than he first thought but kept me updated and I knew he was on his way at all times. When he arrived he was fully equipped to undertake the repair, knew how to do It and did it promptly. On completion he checked thoroughly and charged as quoted.

100% of people using businesses like this, do so because they think there is some transparency and a better chance of getting a good tradesperson to do the work. We all understand they have not been individually vetted by you.

I hired a trade and the work was shocking. I have had to engage another contractor to fix the terrible mess. Rated people did engage with me, but the solutions offered feel more like avoidance than resolution.

So I paid £250 for a botched job, will have to pay a similar amount to rectify the damage done, and gained nothing by using Rated People.

They are rubbish never do they look at workman on Thier site . If they are cowboys they let them on site. I lost £1k last December did rated people give a dam no they didn't. Never will I use them again the work took place 9th December the builder was Shane's home improvement he no longer has bank account. Bank closed his account how Rated people still have him on site I will never work out.

Rated People is my go to app when looking for tradesmen for different jobs. Used it many times now and it always gets me the results I am looking for. Reading previous reviews gives me confidence I am making a good choice

I was impressed by the organisational skills in advance. All costs were quoted with options and pictures of alternative products and prices if desired. On the job the engineer arrived at time specified and worked exceedingly hard throughout the day stopping briefly for a lunch snack. I would highly recommend the engineer and have 'Whats App'd this to 20 neighbours who live in my Close as someone I would highly recommend.

There are not enough leads and many of them are not strong at all. This site has so much potential and in the past no other trade app came close more needs to be done on the marketing to generate more leads and bring this company back to the were it belongs…..at the top!

I Accepted a quote for electric ceiling light job I posted on Rated People from Qualified electrician
Sergiu Nasalean from Cheltenham. He came today and fixed 4 good quality industry approved lights in a bedroom. He was most professional and meticulous and took care to leave the bedroom in pristine condition and ensure that I was completely satisfied with the new lights, which I was.

If I could, this should be zero. Brendan from RD Plastering (Wirral). He contacted quickly after I’d posted the job, he sounded legitimate and I booked him. Said he would come and cried off with an excuse. Arranged he’d come instead the next day, didn’t reply to message and didn’t show up. Scammer for sure. Says trying to build up ratings on Rated People but is a time waster.
I am kicking myself as I wasted time waiting around for 30 mins on the second day.
Rated People would not allow me to post the review for some reason which would help other potential customers.

Most reviews here seem to come from traders. I’m writing as a customer who found a trader through Rated People.

I left a 2-star review after a porch project that fell well short of what I had understood had been agreed beforehand. Certain features and standards had been discussed clearly in advance and were important in my decision to go ahead.

The work was ultimately carried out by people who did not appear to have been briefed on all of those agreed requirements, and the finished result was, in my view, poor and significantly below expectations. When I raised concerns afterwards, I did not feel that there was any meaningful attempt to resolve them.

One thing I did appreciate was having the opportunity to leave feedback, so I posted an honest review reflecting my experience.

Shortly after it appeared, I received a phone call from the trader challenging the review and asking for it to be changed or removed. I found the conversation uncomfortable enough that I chose to amend it rather than continue the dispute.

That experience left me with little confidence in the value of ratings on Rated People. If customers feel pressure after leaving negative feedback, the overall picture may become less reliable than it appears.

I also contacted Rated People at the time to explain my concerns but did not receive a response.

My takeaway: treat online ratings as only one source of information. Personal recommendations and seeing examples of previous work would now carry far more weight for me.
