Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 86 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people expressed dissatisfaction with the user experience, citing constant interruptions from ads that disrupt their study flow. Customers also found that many essential features are now behind a paywall, making the platform largely unusable for free users and limiting access to learning tools. Reviewers frequently encountered technical problems, including lagging, crashing, and difficulties with the website's navigation and editing functions. However, some people found the platform useful for preparing for exams and appreciated the convenience of accessing study materials on the go. Conversely, a small portion of people experienced unexpected charges for trials and issues with automatic subscription renewals.

It’s working, but I won’t renew

If you’re looking for a fairly user friendly flashcard app (with a good interface) then this will *perhaps* achieve what you want. It serves my purposes well (I just need to go over content regularly without faffing with a thousand settings a la Anki)

That all being said, for what should be a mature app it lacks basic features. Many of the gamification features (badges/achievements) just flat out don’t work - i.e. they don’t count things. Large sets are extremely difficult to use because there is no way to break them into smaller sections -- I’ve forgotten anything I’ve learned after 1000 other cards! The search function is borderline useless; there seems to be "events" occurring, but I can’t locate them.

Would I recommend it? No. But, at the same time, £35 is acceptable and I’ve got my moneys worth, but won’t be renewing at the end (or for my next course!).

They are liars right from the start

They are liars right from the start. I was looking for a solution to a problem in a textbook that I'm trying to figure out. I find the book and the problem in their site. When I click on the problem I wanted to see, it told me to "create a free account to see the answers."

Well, since they explicitly said "free account," I figured sure, I'll sign up and get spam for the answer (as you know anyone asking for your email plans to automatically takes it upon themselves to put you on spam lists these days). After I sign up, have to verify my email, *THEN* they immediately send me to a page telling me I have to sign up for a "free trial," then pay monthly for a subscription!!! Why would anyone in their right mind sign up with trickery like that?! They DID NOT state "free trial," they clearly stated "free account."

I have no idea why any of you would've signed up for a site with deceptive practices like that. Sites like this really need to be removed from Google...

Magic notes blacklist sensitive…

Magic notes blacklist sensitive language. Fails to generate and does not return a specific error message. Unusable for historical information. Contacted support; they took a week to respond and were clueless and unhelpful.

The website frequently fails to load fully, or takes an excessive amount of time to load.

If I could I would give them a zero

If I could I would give them a zero. I am a teacher. Somehow a school account from my former school system was left active. I left the state and therefore the job, rightfully so the school district disabled my email. For the past 2 years, quizlet has charged me a yearly fee via Apple Pay. I am not even sure how my personal Apple Pay was connected to this account. They refused to reimburse me. Although there is no way to access the account because the email doesn’t exist and no one can reset the password. 75+ bucks flushed down the toilet for a dummy account. Bad business!!!

The 7 days free trial is completely BS

The 7 days free trial is completely BS. You can get a free trial, but only if you pay for at least one month. That's the first BS, the second is when you try to end the subscription. Lack of information and too many options make it impossible to navigate around the site.

They don’t do any quality control

I found wrong items on some of the decks, so I looked for a way to report it, but there isn’t a way. They state,

“Most of the content on Quizlet was created by students and teachers for personal use. Because of this, you may come across some typos or errors. If you notice that a set you want to study has errors, you can make your own copy and edit it before studying the material. We understand that this isn't the ideal solution because it doesn't let people know about mistakes in their sets or prevent others from studying material with errors. Our team takes content quality seriously…”

If they took it seriously, they’d fix errors instead of allowing thousands of people to be misguided. Don’t give money to a company who obviously doesn’t care.

Don’t pay for Quizlet

I’ve paid for Quizlet - what a waste of money and time. It’s bloated, overloaded with different options, impossible to navigate easily and incomprehensible.

Sluggish paywalled mess

The website is insanely bloated, most of the features are either missing or paywalled, this is no better than any other flashcard service. Missing features, sluggish and annoying.. at this point I just write my flashcards in Vim and import them as text.
Would not recommend to anyone! Please move on to something else
