I only use Quicken because...
I only use Quicken because...
I have owned copies of this software since 1990. It enabled me to track and easily update my financial and business data. That is all I needed.
A single entry bookkeeping system the does what I need.
Since then the software has gone through many revisions. From DOS to Windows. A change of ownership from Intuit to investors and the change from purchase to subscription.
Each has created its own challenges, and until the subscription model was introduced, I never looked for a replacement.
Now I understand that the software is a trap.
Because there is no replacement that gives the basic functionality that I need while preserving a coherent timeline including my historic data.
Quicken tries to be all things to all people with too many feature.
Too many growing pains and too many bugs from the growth and un-needed features.
I will continue to use the product until I no longer need its basic design elements. Or until I find something better.
But not because I am a dedicated fan.
Only because I have no other choice.

1) There are fewer and fewer financial institutions with data can be downloaded directfly .
2) There are some misintepretions when transarcionons are download.
The program is good but it is too expensive
The program is good but it is too expensive to pay over 100 just to have your account links to download transactions. A feature which was free before they got greedy. I know it takes time to maintain such a function but the costs are too high.
Dark Mode Needed
Everyone has wanted a 'dark mode' feature for many years ... it can't be that hard folks.
It is easy to understand and navigate
It is easy to understand and navigate. I have used Quicken for over 15 yrs and I don't have one complaint.
Too many bugs still exist
Too many bugs still exist. Multiple duplicate transactions continue to automatically be entered even though the original was entered manually. Since this product was spun off from Intuit and went into a subscription service, it has become unstable. I've experienced missing reminders that have resulted in late fees.
Price is getting too high.
Quicken works great for my needs, but the annual price keeps going up, which is making me question if I really need to continue my subscription.
Quicken isn't quick, or even close
over the past year Quicken has become ridiculously slow when working with transactions. Even when doing something as simple as changing a single character and saving a transaction.
Your product is excellent but I feel…
Your product is excellent but I feel trapped by the escalating cost each year. I don't need any additional services, just a basic program that will download my investments. but at $83, I am going to seek alternatives after using Quicken since 1999. I am saddened by this reality. as I stated, I love the product but you are pricing me out of it for updates I will never use, don't want to use and if I could simply keep what I had, it would meet my needs.
Quicken Classic: Unmatched Reliability for Over Three Decades!
I have relied on Quicken Classic desktop software since 1993 to manage my personal and family finances with precision and ease. This program has consistently delivered the robust tools I need as a longtime user with a background in banking and accounting. It remains my go-to solution for tracking every detail without unnecessary complications.
Pros:
* Longevity and Stability: Quicken Classic has performed flawlessly for more than thirty years without major disruptions or forced migrations.
* Comprehensive Financial Tracking: The software handles checking accounts, investments, loans, and budgets with exceptional accuracy and depth.
* Powerful Reporting Capabilities: Custom reports provide clear insights into net worth, cash flow, and tax preparation data at a glance.
* Offline Security and Control: Full desktop functionality ensures complete data privacy and access even without an internet connection.
* User-Friendly Interface: Navigation stays intuitive while offering advanced features that grow with complex financial needs.
Overall, Quicken Classic continues to set the standard for personal finance management and earns my strongest recommendation for anyone seeking dependable desktop software.
works fine
works fine, down loads are easy, Don't use the payment option.
Rather own the program instead of just rent and re-rent every year.
I've used products w/ better options in…Microsoft
I've used products w/ better options in the past, but once I upgraded to window 10 a few years back I had to switch to Quicken. Now w/ Windows 11 and using the same Quicken, I have gooten used to it. Better than having less advancded software!
No issues at this time.
This product needs work
This product needs work. For example, I would like a comprehensive "how to use" document with step by step instructions instead of the piecemeal topic-specific articles in the help section. I need big picture and overview first.
Also, the lack of certain items is a bit baffling. For example, why isn't there an item to list contents, location, and access information for a safe deposit box? Also, the only thing I see about Social Security is an item for the Social Security card. There is a lot more to Social Security than the card. What about a place for a current benefits statement? I know I have run in to other situations needing improvement but can't remember them now. Will keep a list so next time I am better prepared.
Also, I have a problem with the cost of the product. I think Quicken over-estimates its value and the value of the "balance update" feature, which is pretty meaningless to me. If you must charge a subscription price, I don't think more than $5-$10/year is currently justified. If you think about the current cost over a decade or more, it is simply not worth it.
Has become too complicated
simple to use like a check book
