Service gets worse
I have been a member at PureGym Stevenage for more than 3 years, and for a long time the value for money was very good for the service provided.
However, recently the service has deteriorated. Classes are being cancelled without notice and there is no clear policy regarding minimum attendance, which is frustrating when you plan your time around them.
Unfortunately, when raising concerns about this, the staff response has not always been professional and has felt dismissive. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves communication and customer service going forward.
Spacious
The actual gym itself is nice, spacious and has lots of equipment without it feeling too cramped. However, the changing rooms are dirty and there's weights and dumbbells left all over the place. I thought maybe it's because I was going early morning but I went one lunch time and it was the exact same issue

Good equipment. You get what you pay for.
The gym is good temperature and has good range of machines available. The place lacked atmosphere and the 2 employees where bent over there mobiles the whole time I was there and not even looking at the gym users. The ladies changing rooms were awful, looked like they hadn’t been cleaned properly in ages.

Great gym; changing rooms let it down
Pure Gym Stevenage: Great gym. Good equipment. Friendly staff.
Just could do with being clean in the changing facilities.
I have spoken with the local gym staff, but unfortunatley not much has changed.

Idiotic place
Idiotic place - booked day pass on Hatfield - worked ok. Tried next day in Stevenage and couldn’t get in. No way to refund or apparently rectify. Connection doesn’t work in building so sitting in Costa down street to sort. What a waste of time

Great value for money gym
Great value for money gym that suits my needs and it’s open 24/7 which is even better.
Great choice of machines and weights and always find something to use.
Down side is the male changing/shower area are poorly maintained and cleaned, also the lockers are a little small so you will struggle to use them with a bigger bag..
Would I recommend the gym though ?? Yeah

This gym used to be good but new…
This gym used to be good but new management and has gone down hill. Machines broken and not repaired when repeatedly asked. Gets extremely busy yet they still offer discounts for new customers when the gym is too small already for the amount of members. Leaving for this reason.

The reason my experience was good was…
The reason my experience was good was because I got to the gym at 5:15am so that I can use the machines and be able to complete a good workout. After 6am it's extremely busy and it's very hard to complete a workout as most machines are in use, or someone is just sitting at the machine watching Facebook on their phones!!!
But I have to say that I was extremely disappointed that there were water bottles left at pretty much every machine, throw them away, I don't understand why leave them there. As for the ladies toilets, there wasn't any toilet roll in 2 out of the three toilets, it was a mess in there.
They have a cleaner who arrives at 6am when the gym is do busy and he is then hoovering in between the machines and where you're trying to work out. Do it earlier!!

Worst gym I’ve been to in years
Worst gym I’ve been to in years, filthy, I felt dirty being there and left within 10mins.

Generally ok
Generally ok. No real atmosphere. Staff do not even acknowledge you when you make eye contact. Overall quite average although shower area filthy so do not use them anymore. Please give them a deep clean then I’ll use them.

Its a top tier gym- spotless and easily accessible
It’s clean, environment friendly and easily accessible. Enjoyed every bit throughout my session. Luckily I went there to see things for myself cos some reviews online were giving bad energy but when I got in the first day and there after I said to myself I like it here!

Mostly great experience signing up, a few niggles.
It is mentioned that parking is free for two hours at St. George's multi-storey car park, but it is not mentioned what needs to be done to avail of that (eg, registering the car reg once or every visit to the gym). The app does not allow registration of the car for this.
It is not mentioned whether one can workout with a young person (eg, father-son) or less than 16 years of age (normal membership is not available for younger than 16 years of age, but it is not clear if that restriction extends to bolt-on as well).
So, based on reply from PureGym, I double-checked PureGym Stevenage's home page and they don't tell _how_ to register one's vehicle for the free parking (how would St. George's multistorey car park charging mechanism know not to charge the member for two hours?). I did find the info about 16 years of age requirement even for bolt-ons (or any method whatsoever to enter the gym), so thanks for that - it could be specified on the bolt-on page as well and 'bring your buddy' info as well (instead of being in help/FAQ section only), just like membership for 16+ years info is available elsewhere as well (more contextual), instead of just help/FAQ. But it has resolved that question👍.
