My experience was made so much better than I thought it was going to because the psychiatrist made me feel at ease completely. He made me feel confident and comfortable to be able to talk to him about my personal situation.

The doctor was very helpful and explained everything very well so I could understand

Waiting time was short. The doctor was professional, attentive, and understanding. Overall, the experience was good; it allowed me to get to know myself better and understand the reasons behind my behaviors. It reminded me of my childhood and my youth.

Once my referral had been sent to Psychiatry UK by my GP. I soon received an email notifying me that I had been approved.
I then received the questionnaires within a short period of time and had an appointment approximately a week following their completion.
The whole process was efficient and easy to navigate.
The consultant I saw (Farah) was lovely and understanding and I didn’t feel unsupported at all, despite feeling very anxious prior to the assessment.

I have had an adult ASD assessment with Dr Soumaya Nasser el din and I have had a very positivie experience. Despite my case being quite complex with a lot of previous mental health issues and childhood trauma etc she was able to take into consideration everything in order to make the best informed decision. The Doctor was very patient and reassuring which was very important, especially that I was very emotional during the assessmnet. She was very clear about what the assessment was going to look like and what the next steps are following the outcome which made me feel more calm about the process.

Waiting 10 months for medication and not even at the “you’re one month from the top of the list” stage yet. To be waiting a year for a medicine you have been deemed as needing is shocking. Oh and they don’t respond to notes, they’re badly organised, they up the wait list and move the goal posts while you’re already on it, they seem on the face of it to not actually care about the patients. If they did they’d not have a year long wait list for someone to prescribe you medication. They keep claiming to be working on getting more staff but the wait lists go up and up, so why are they taking on more clients? Only good thing is the doctors! Both ASD and ADHD psychiatrists I saw were incredible. They seem to be under the impression when they diagnose you that you’ll be medicated within a few months though, so obviously they’re not involved in the process after they write the recommendation nor are they told that the people they diagnose will be waiting a really quite unacceptable time for medicine.

Went under NHS right to choose. 5.5 month wait. Psychologist was very helpful and put me at ease.

Dr Bajcer was very kind and non judgemental, she kept me speak and listened
The diagnosis is even now a surprise for me a week later but she was so kind in how she explained it

The whole experience from start to finish was very thorough and didn’t take long, from referral to the appointment took a month, easy to follow instructions, which is a relief as I’m not good at following verbal instructions
