Efficient sensible reasonable
We were making a claim against someone insured with this company. They had admitted fault and the claim was handled quickly and reasonably. It was a bit complicated as the boat we were towing was damaged and needed specialist repairs but this was not a problem and they were happy to use our recommendation for repair.

As a business we have used PEN for a number of years and they look after us very well. We have a good relationship with our account manager and she always gets back to us, if she misses a call. The only negative is some of the smaller claims seem to have to be chased quite a bit to get action when we would prefer to hand over a claim and have the insurance deal with it efficiently and provide us feedback when done.
Don't Trust them with your Insurance
I recently brought buy to let property insurance with Pen underwriting. A fire has occurred at the property and they are rejecting the claim.
If you buy insurance from Pen Underwriting, it is like not having any insurance. No communications from loss adjuster, just in limbo.
They seem to have a panel of people looking to reject your claim than process them.
Don't buy with Pen Underwriting for your insurance

Pen have very comprehensive levels of cover which exceed their competitors and their service levels, knowledge and prices bring the complete package together. I would definitely recommend talking to them.
Looked after us very well for many years
Great Company, Highly Recommend!
A really easy company to work with. I generally deal with Megan Richards on regular basis. Megan is quick to respond and very efficient. I never have to chase anything up. I would highly recommend Pen Underwriting.
Outstanding service from the team and cover!
Pen's Mid Net Worth Household Insurance product, Pen Premier, provides excellent levels of cover which we can confidently recommend to our clients. The Pen team also provide us with excellent levels of technical expertise and service which is much appreciated.

If I could give this company 0 stars I would - awful company to deal with - lack of communication -terrible customer services and given an claims handler that has no idea what she is doing which has caused us undue stress with the claim. Dont log claims, promise management call backs that dont happen -
Great service by all teams
Great service by all teams. Helpful and attentive and always at the end of the phone to assist with all queries. Resolve claims in the best way that they can.
1st Class Claims Service
As a claims handler at an Insurance Brokers I always receive a 1st class service from Pen, highly recommend their claims department.
They are good
After initial hiccups, all went well and onboarding was completed. They are quite organised with the posts etc.
May as well have not had insurance.
Absolutely diabolical company who never get back to you. Pushed from pillar to post by incompetent staff. My claim has rumbled on since last summer with me constantly chasing, sending photos and generally jumping through ridiculous hoops and answering nonsensical questions.
My front doors were damaged beyond repair, basically melting on the hottest day of the heatwave. Their verdict: Wear and tear, gradual decline, not paying, case closed. It took them 6 months to concoct that excuse!
I also had two other minor claims on the back of this which were also ignored.
Abhorrent shambles who wriggle out of payment. I'm furious and apparently have no comeback.
You may as well be uninsured!
Pen Needs Closing Down
Pen Underwriting have history of abusing disabled people and I'm another. Reported vandalism a month ago. Loss Adjuster verbally abused me. Still waiting for anything to happen. Pen refused sending an emergency locksmith! Diabolical. There is no point being insured.
Where is there any governance? I hold the ACII qualification. Pen should be closed down.

I was very surprised to find that Pen had changed the value of my sum insured by 40% downwards. i raised this with them and strangely 4 weeks later i have had no reply.
Now receptionist thinks abusing a disabled customer will make the problem go away, or she doesn't know how use her switchboard!!!!!!
Avoid at all costs, they will wriggle out of paying your claim!
Put in a claim for a damaged patio door. After 5 weeks of them stalling and getting me to jump through hoops backwards supplying descriptions of what happened twice, two quotes and 8 photographs of the damaged door they said they would not pay out as it was due to wear and tear! They are impossible to get hold of on the phone, one call 30 mns, and one 40mns none of the calls answered. Apparently they are part of the Davies group and they are the same.
My policy was obtained via A-Plan insurance, I will use none of these companies again.
Looking at most of these reviews they seem to be in business just to take your money but not to pay out! A pity we paid the full amount at once and not by direct debit otherwise we would cancel the policy but I doubt they would pay us back now.
AVOID, AVOID, AVOID
It's a pity we can't give minus scores with Trustpilot!
Why is it you only find your way to…
Why is it you only find your way to these things after the event. I’m a landlord with numerous properties and no previous claims but a sound understanding of insurance (I worked in the industry for ten years). I had an escape of water last November. Bad enough but not awful! I expected an emergency response from my insurer. Turns out I shouldn’t even have expected a response! They appointed the Davies Group who are equally awful. And CIA my broker. Dreadful too! They took months to take any action whatsoever leaving my property standing damp and empty. I eventually raised a complaint which they responded with incorrect information. I hesitate to write lies but that’s what they came back with. When the work eventually started on the property (some six months down the line) they took three extra weeks to complete without an explanation or apology. They then sent someone in to clean the property who had the audacity to spend three days in the property then call me over to check it, telling me it was spotless and of course I found they hadn’t done very much at all. There is nothing I can recommend or praise. I cannot wait for this to be over and never wish to deal with any of the involved parties again. Simply woeful! This will be going to the ombudsman as soon as.
Awful experience with this company
Awful experience with this company, literally zero customer service the refuse to communicate with the customer and claims take months and months nearly a year and still no support or sign of settlement. Avoid!
Latest tactic
Latest tactic , is not to reply just send their logo this looks like a business on the edge , unable to service claims 6 months now .We should also question any brokers who use them .
We’ll come again
Great service, very attentive staff, amazing food. Our first visit but won’t be the last. Thank you for having us!
(P.S. not sure about the spoons lol)
