Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 91 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently encounter unexpected penalty charges and hefty parking fines even after attempting to pay correctly or displaying valid parking permits. People are extremely frustrated by broken payment machines, confusing signage, and unexpected charges across various locations. Some reviewers were not happy with the completely unhelpful appeal teams and aggressive debt collection practices encountered afterward. Customers also mentioned being unable to resolve simple payment disputes or facing threats of heavy additional costs when trying to contest unfair penalties. Visitors feel that the overall service is entirely unsupportive and designed to penalize motorists rather than manage parking efficiently.

Absolute crooks!

Absolute crooks!! Sent my partner a £100 parking fine for a car we had sold months before to a salvage person. Even though we explained to them that the car was sold and there had been a issue/delay with the DVLA transferring ownership, sent proof from DVLA and also proof we weren't even in this country at time of offence (on holiday!), they ignored this and within weeks had passed the debt to a collection agency! NOW £170!!! Disgusting company who will do anything to get money from you!

This company deliberately send their…

This company deliberately send their PCN to your home late and they will make sure you will fail to get your discount rate for paying the PCN once you receive your PCN letter. The IPC also useless and they will support all the claim from operator even though you provide everything you were out of town when this operator sent you the PCN.

Inconsiderate humans

I’m writing this review as I am appalled at Ocean parking.

I have just finished chemotherapy and am taking cancer medication that requires me to have no control of my bowels.
I pulled up in a bay and displayed my disability badge and explained to the parking attendant I was in desperate need of the toilet.
He became very argumentative and stated that he didn’t care what I needed.
I left my car and proceeded to the toilet, obviously returning back to my car with a note on saying I would be fined.
I have contacted Ocean parking to appeal this ticket due to my condition and they have not granted this.
So now having to appeal again to the IAS.
Absolutely disgusting behaviour from you Ocean parking.
I hope you never have to encounter what I’m going through you inconsiderate humans.

Worst Car Park Ever

If I could give a zero star review I definitely would. I took my niece and nephew to Shere for a day out, I parked and paid for the car park for 5 hours. I left more than half hour before the deadline and they sent me a fine of £100 stating I didn't pay for the car park. I sent them a screen shot of the payment from my bank app and they said that yes, I did pay for the car park but I didn't type my car plate correctly, so even though they knew and admitted that I did pay the car park, they told me I still had to pay the fine and as a gesture of good will, I could just pay £20. This company is stealing money from people and is discouraging people from wanting to visit the area for fear of receiving unjust fines. You are thieves!!!

Like others a 0 rating would be useful

Like others a 0 rating would be useful. I don't live in Stockport and visited Peel Centre to go to M&S food. Used the validation machine and saw my car on screen and believed I had done it. £100 PCN arrived (reduced to £60 if paid quickly). I appealed and was turned down as you have to apparently also validate on a pay machine outside, but was not clear. They also claimed that my reg had not even been entered on the instore tablet. Given an extra 14 days to pay £60 - but if go to independent appeal and don't win it will be £100. Also threatened with legal redress if I don't pay. Parking for two hours is £1 (or free if validated - twice) I parked for just over 30 minutes. Extortion!

0 rated, but that's not an option.

I'd give 0, but that's not an option. Atherton train station car park, only 1 disabled bay that was occupied, so had to use a normal bay in a very packed carpark. Unfortunately as I'm disabled and need room to get out of the car, my front passenger wheel was on the white line, resulting in a fine. Yet I've clicked to appeal, to get the screen that says I cannot appeal because of either paid, cancelled, voided or with debt recovery

This company strategically places lines…

This company strategically places lines in disabled parking which are invisible when you get in the spot. Then they pounce. They then try to make you pay at least £70, even though you paid the £1 fee at the machine and you’re not encroaching on another space, so they have zero loss of revenue. They also claim to be in the British Parking Association, yet they do not adhere to the guidelines for how to mark bays up. Cash Cow. Appalling. Park there at your peril. We will not be paying this and will happily go to court to expose what is going on. It’s about time this stopped. After reading some of the other reviews I have decided I will be contacting watchdog regarding this Anchor security services company

Would have been zero...

Would have been zero had it been possible. One of the worst aspects of society is private car park operators. Appalling service and sharp practices. Should be subject to strict regulation and authorisation. Ocean Parking the worst I have experienced. I'll avoid using any car parks they oversee in future.

I wish i never went there peel centre with my Client, elderly disabled lady and I have never used disabled blue badge in my life so I didn’t know they will charge to disabled people too, and if you missed accidentally they would charge you unlawful ridiculous fees £60 for 40 minutes parking, at least charge should be less £25 if you parked for 1 hour without paying especially for blue badge people, but no they are making money sitting in their offices and charging unlawful fees, unbelievable hard working people's i am a carer and my money has gone to giving them these unlawful charges, I am so upset , don’t go peel centre do on line shopping or go Trafford centre, free parking

If I could give it 0 I would... Absolute disgrace of a carpark. Entered my car reg in the marks and Spencers machine and received a fine for £60 two weeks later. Tried to appeal but they didn't care, and used threats should as if it's not paid within certain time frame the fine will be increased and will go towards a debt management company.

DO NOT PARK HERE

If I could give this car parking company minus stars I would. I am truly disgusted at the way they run their ‘business’. First of all I was parking in a disabled bay with my disabled mother and her badge correctly displayed. I have appealed this and they are saying that even with a disabled badge correctly displayed you still have to purchase and ticket. This is absolutely outrageous and I have never ever parked anywhere with these ridiculous rules as we all know this badge permits you to park anywhere for any length of time. I am so shocked. I can only hope that not too many people have been caught by this scam.

Bad company

Bad company, my wife paid through the ring go app which was advertised on the machine right next to where she parked. We then received a fine in the post for £60 we appealed the fine sending proof that we had paid. The came back and said the found against best on the wrong car park number being used in the app even though it was the correct one from the machine right next to the car in the same car park. Hope karma see’s things right, because people like this are bandits and no better than bag snatchers.

SCAM - Car Park Scam Pomona Strand Car Park

My Grandson Parked on Pomona Strand Car Park on 15/02/2025, while going to a concert locally. He was directed to park by men in High Vis Jackets, with around another 30 cars doing likewise, he paid £20 for what he was told by these men was official parking. He has now received an Ocean Parking Charge fine. He has had to pay a further £40 to pay this fine. I read another review on here from Tim who was scammed at the same place, must be by the same men with the high vis jackets, so obviously a regular scam. I rang GMP wanting a crime reference so we can appeal the fine, they said my Grandson has to ring them as he is the "victim". I asked the Police to look into this as it's a blatant scam and people are loosing money, these people fraudulently obtaining cash by scamming people, they said they will look into it if my Grandson contacts them, not interested IMO. I wanted the crime reference as it appears from other reviews on here Ocean Parking are not interested in circumstances or the truth, it's about money, probably this is a good earner for them. Likely many other people have fell foul of this scam, you would think Ocean Parking would be happy to report this scam to the Police, you would like to think they would!!!.

SCUM OF THE EARTH PARASITES!!

If it was possible to give a negative score I would have, however you are forced to give 1 star as a minimum which should be changed.
I am convinced that Ocean Parking is working in conjunction with the ISA (Independent Appeals Service). Despite raising a dispute with them after receiving a parking fine from Ocean Parking (by the way it isn't possible to open a case with POPLA - 'Parking on Private Land Appeals' independent service), instead you are forced to only use the ISA for Ocean Parking fines - so what does this tell you? After submitting a 100% valid and genuine reason for going over my parking time by literally a few mins my appeal was rejected by Ocean Parking and then ISA in favor of Ocean Parking - absolutely no surprise at all. Do not waste your time and effort in raising an appeal through ISA for an Ocean Parking fine, it doesn't matter what 100% valid reason you give for going over your parking time you will only receive the same response from Ocean Parking and ISA that: 'signs were there and you did not adhere to the rules of parking' - they take absolutely no humane reasons into account as to why this may have happened. And, unlike most companies where whilst you are in dispute/appeal the cost does not increase whilst you are 'in the process', with Ocean Parking theirs increases from £60 to £100 after 28 days of being originally issued the fine even though you are sill in the appeals process with the ISA - and when the ISA uphold the decision/fine in favor of Ocean Parking (which they most definitely will), you do not get the opportunity to pay the original £60 as its gone over Ocean Parking's 28 day period by then and risen to £100. You are better off not parking at their sites at all, or, if you must, and do end up receiving any fine for going over your time, save yourself the frustration, headache and £40 by not appealing and paying the £60 instead of £100 which will come later if you appeal! This company is an absolute parasite - if the money they generated from the public was actually put to good use (charities) you'd happily pay but here the fat cats just get fatter - don't feed them!

Poor signage outside restaurant at…

Poor signage outside restaurant at Botley Mills meant that despite displaying a Blue Badge I was fined for an under 2 hour stay. The area is poorly lit, signage is in small font and displayed at height. Inadequate - this is no better than a money making scam for the operators, not serving the best interests of the businesses or their customers

Report to Watchdog

ANCHOR SECURITY SERVICES Ltd trading as Ocean Parking NEED TO BE REPORTED to Watchdog for their criminal activities! Their turnover in 2023 was £13million… I wonder how much of that was acquired through their parking scam business model. Have a look on companies house for more information and to see who the culprits are behind this scamming company. They trade as Ocean Parking so that when they destroy their reputation and brand they can change the name they trade by but still maintain their business name Anchor Security services Ltd (company registration no. 2548101).

If you see Ocean Parking BEWARE and do not use that car park - they will attempt to rob you by operating a subpar parking payment system that doesn't communicate with their in-store validation systems. When you try to appeal because you have proof that you validated your parking, they will not acknowledge the evidence. You've been warned - just boycott them to save yourself the effort of having to communicate with criminal scumbags.
