Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 162 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found the app and website difficult to use, citing complicated security procedures and frequent login failures, often requiring multiple attempts. Users reported significant frustration with the verification process, including issues with photo ID and video submissions, making account access nearly impossible. The service was widely criticized for its lack of essential functionalities like booking appointments or viewing test results, rendering it largely useless for many. However, some customers found the app reasonable or even brilliant when they could successfully log in, noting improvements in user-friendliness and online GP communication, including quick responses.

Shock! NHS get it wrong again!!

Nobody should be surprised that the catastrophically underperforming NHS has released such a useless app. Like the rest of the service this app is not fit for purpose. Consistent with the wider public sector, it promises a lot and delivers very little. Great job 👍

Waiting list disappeared

I have been on the waiting list since 7 November 2025 for trigger thumb operation with initial waiting time of 23 weeks which then went up to 32 weeks. 15 May it just disappeared from my NHS app and has not reappeared. I have been told still on list but still app not showing it. What is the point of the app if not being managed

Absolutely pathetic

Absolutely pathetic! If you have an appointment, say, in a month's time, all your meds will be removed from the app so you cannot order any prescriptions.

I have had this app for ages and it worked fine
Then yesterday it logged me out and won't let me log in again
Totally useless
It wants a code from my mobile but when you get that and go back to log into it , you have to re log in so video invalid

Waste of time

Waste of time. 3 verification codes I needed just to access the app. Needed an emergency eye appointment at my GP. No online appointments.

Absolutely useless

Absolutely useless. Keeps asking to login then blocked because I have logged in too many times. Whoever signed off on this rubbish should be fired. The money spent on this would have been more useful spent on front line services.

Rubbish

Rubbish. Get thrown out for no known reason, have to go through torturous process of entering details plus photos only to be told at the end ‘something went wrong’. If there’s any message to me on there that tells me I’m seriously ill then I won’t get it it because I’ve given up with the NHS app. Absolute rubbish

Just another pointless way of gate…

Just another pointless way of gate keeping so NHS don't have to speak directly to patients. I have had so many crappy GP reception experiences I don't even bother with them anymore and spend about 3 days a month waiting for someone to update that my prescription has been 'issued' before spending another 2 days trying to find out if the chemist has even received it from them. Who the fook signed this off as a functioning platform? Great that you can cancel appointments but not book one. WTAF

Impossible to Access

Attempt to login and the app sends a code to you mobile phone via SMS.
Once the code is retrieved and you go back to the app it starts the login process over again, meaning you are stuck in an never ending loop.

Contacted the support help line, who said the code appears at the top of the screen. When I pointed out that it doesn't, they ended all communication.
I don't know whether this is out of arrogance, ignorance or a combination, but it is shockingly bad when they are highly likely playing with peoples lives.

Diabolical software

Utter crap! How can such a prestigious organisation justify such diabolical software? Passkey login doesn't work, can't access appointments, medical conditions or any useful data and many of my historical records are absent. Why bother at all?

It's a shame I cannot award negative stars, because this "app" would get a minus 10. "app" is the wrong name : it should be a "miss app". I don't know which numpty designed the user interface: looks to have been developed by a 10-year old. We deserve better than this. I'm off to phone my GP

Worse than useless

Worse than useless. Cannot login because each time they send a passcode you have to minimise the app to read the passcode. Then when you maximise the app again it initiates a new login process. 3 goes and you are barred for 15 minutes. Beyond hope.

Crap update …

The last update means harder to find hiw to book an appointment, why/when was it logical to have to go through the documents option?
If you're booking for someone else forget it unless they are at the same surgery a yourself
Upgrade is a joke and backwards step.
Doesn't deserve any stars
