The team at Newton & Co were fantastic…

The team at Newton & Co were fantastic from start to finish. They kept me informed and updated after every viewing we had and provided advice when needed. Highly recommend this company for any house sale I do not believe i would have achieved a sale without them.

Total lack of communication

Made an offer on a house on Tuesday afternoon but didn’t hear anything back. On Wednesday I gave them a call myself to see if the offer had been accepted or not. I was informed by Ashley that there had been multiple offers made on the property and these are with the vendor to consider, and once he had heard back they would let me know and if needed we would be able to increase our offer if we wanted to. Ashley did also mention that in the mean time I could send them our ID’s, proof of funds, mortgage offer etc but this was not mandatory. By Thursday I still heard nothing. On Friday lunch time I call again to chase up and told I would get a call back. Nothing again so I call at 4.30pm only to be informed that sorry the vendor had decided to proceed with a higher offer??? Not only did they not advise us another offer had been accepted but we were not given the opportunity to increase our offer! When I questioned Caleb about this I was informed that the vendor required all documentation previously stated above was needed by 5pm Thursday?! Again, we were not informed of this and was actually told this was not necessary until the offer was accepted! I am left speechless by the whole situation and the total lack of communication is unacceptable. I would have accepted this whole saga if they’d just kept us in the loop. Other agencies that I’ve dealt with have rung me everyday to update me with the progress. Not happy with this service at all.

Great Experience with Newton & Co as a buyer

As a buyer I found Newton & Co really good to deal with. Both Caleb and Ashley were fantastic throughout and helped things flow smoothly, and even after completion were on hand to tie up a couple of loose ends.

I know Estate Agents can get a bit of a bad rep, but as a buyer Newton & Co didn't try to give me the hard sell with their solicitors or brokers or anything which was appreciated. When/if I come to sell my property I hope Newton & Co are still around!

Newton and Co (Bolton) The worst estate …

Newton and Co (Bolton) The worst estate agent I've ever dealt with.

I am in full time employment and have been with the same employer for three years. I also have recommendation letters from previous landlords stretching back 10 years. This is not sufficient for Newton & Co, they want bank statements (for proof of earnings), you pay an admin fee of £85, one month deposit, one month in advance, then you also pay £200 for a credit check (non-refundable) and then they want a guarantor for £30,000 to cover the rented property should you do a runner. As someone with no close family we found it embarrassing asking a friend to be a guarantor, who was also asked for his proof of I.D including a copy of his mortgage.

When we moved into the property we were confronted by a 50 page tenancy agreement which we had to sign and initial every page. We were asked to sign photos of the property despite not seeing the property.

When we finally moved in we immediately had issues with the property (serious leaks and damp etc) nothing was done in the 12 months we were there. It took us months and months to get our deposit back despite having no issues with the property.

Avoid this estate agent at all costs - they soley represent the interests of the landlords and do nothing to deal with the tenants concerns.
