Viv from Newsflare have been a pleasure to work with and have been extremely helpful and accomodating when it has come to sharing my underwater footage. Since working with them they have done a great job marketing and selling my footage and have always paid me promptly!

I've had a career in photojournalism for approximately 15 years. This has mainly been freelance, but also as a staff photographer for another news agency for 3 years, so I feel I have a good amount of experience to root out a good business model.

First off, Newsflare is pretty much the only dedicated video agency that covers everything from social media shorts to breaking news footage.

I specialise in the latter, I go out and send footage from the field and need it to go to UK newspaper desks ASAP.

I am able to achieve this with Newsflare and have sold thousands of pounds worth of sales over the years.

My sales have been most British newspapers, British TV (news and TV programmes) Ladbible, The Weather Channel (they pay well!) and various other buyers I wouldn't have even thought about selling to/knowing even existed if I had sold direct instead of using Newsflare.

As with any agency, NF take a cut, they take 50% which in 2025 is alright as many platforms have reduced their rate to the contributor under this level, keeping a bigger percentage to themselves.

The main difference with NF is their payment model, it's quite frankly Outstanding.

The idea is, if it's sold to a British newspaper (online) then you'll get paid within 24 hours, often within a few hours.

I have used many agencies in the past and only 1 had a similar idea, that being Corbis, but before it was implemented, China bought the company, so bye bye them.

Most other agencies pay you 3 months or more, NF bucks the trend, knowing they will be paid so why make the contributor wait?

I'm happy to give up 50% simply to be paid the same day, you don't get that selling directly to the end user either.

Their staff are great and courteous and answer questions quickly.

I've made good professional acquaintance's from many of them over the year's, some have come and gone and others are still present. It doesn't seem like a high turnover of staff, which suggests it's a good working environment behind the scenes too.

Newsflare is a middleman between video content creators and anyone that needs that content. From mainstream TV news programs to small websites.
I was contacted by them a few years ago about a video of a stranded whale I had put on YouTube. I was sceptical at first but agreed to them using the video. I was surprised that it quickly earned money as several companies wanted to use it. Over the years I have added many more videos. A lot earn nothing but then a popular one can earn several hundred pounds. Like when Ed Sheeran gave an impromptu performance in the middle of Ipswich a while ago.
Once you hit the small payment threshold they pay you with no issues. Naturally they take part of the earnings but there's nothing to pay to open an account so nothing to lose.
Deciding what to film is pretty easy to me. Anything whatsoever that would be interesting enough to tell a friend. The whale and Ed Sheeran for example.

I've had a brilliant experience with Newsflare. They've been instrumental in promoting my video of the Grinch in my hometown, which has gone viral multiple times around the world. The team at Newsflare is incredibly supportive and has done a fantastic job of showcasing my content. I can't recommend them enough. If you have a video with viral potential, Newsflare is the place to be!

When I do a news article, I always shoot video. I upload to newsflare and let them do the work.

Sometimes they sell, sometimes they don't, but you soon get an idea of the type of videos people usually buy and know what to put your effort into.

The staff are great, there have been some amazing people I got to know over years who have now left, but they have been replaced with more kind and hard working others.

If you sell to the UK, you get 50% - If you sell via one of their resellers to overseas clients, then you get 40%.

These are buyers any normal direct sale videographer isn't going to reach anyway, so don't complain for the drop of 10% when they are doing the hard work you would have to jump through hoops to have done yourself.

The best thing about Newsflare is, you get paid within 24 hours (usually a few hours) of the video selling/being used.

That's a unique business model in the media, no one else does that, and that's why I've used them for nearly 10 years!!

Don't give your content away for a name credit! You can't pay bills with name credits, and if you are giving other companies permission to use your video for free, They will surely be making money out of it and you won't see a cent/penny of it!

License it and get PAID for it!!

As Britain's most hated cyclists my videos are in high demand and News flare makes the process so easy it's a doddle I would highly recommend them and are very fast and prompt with regard to payments.😉👍

I licensed my first video ever about a year ago, and was so glad I did it through Newsflare. Their team is super responsive and helpful, notifications are prompt, payouts come quickly and easily, and the platform is very easy to use. I really feel like they worked hard to leverage my content to be successful and have been really happy with the results.

Everything have been great i just ulpoaded some videos of diferent subjects and i am recieving earnings almost every month.

I have only submitted one video but it has done incredibly well! I have made over $1,500 USD and Newsflare has been great through the entire process. This is a company who actually responds to your emails and concerns. I would encourage anyone to use them. The extra cash sure is nice. I had no idea silly videos could make so much money.

The 50% they tell you you will get is after they take 10% from the total.
They take 10% for platform fees, what's left they give you 50% of that while they keep the other 50%.
I got onto them back in May over a video that appeared in facebook via a news site but nothing showed in my sales. They had passed the video onto someone else and was told it would be a month before I would see it listed as a sale or know how much it was sold for.
Got an email today asking if they could help with the issue back at the start of May. I also had to chase them up to remove the videos after the 30 days.

I had a very embarrassing yet funny incident happen and I shared it to TikTok. It went viral and news flare reached out to me via instagram. They were through in explaining the process to me and made me feel comfortable not smothered with their info. It’s been literally like 2 days and my story has sold twice. Now I’m making money of something I thought would get only a few laughs. They are always there if I have a question as well.

5 out of 5 so far! This site helped me raise 230 dollars with my video and also they allowed me to keep the rights to my video which is the main reason I looked into this site.

Newsflare in my opinion are the No 1 platform for selling user-generated videos. Being creative when I shoot in terms of themes / trends and stunts always the Newsflare newsdesk will either sharpen the raw footage in terms of shortening it or asking for more footage and getting the tags and copy so Pro ..! Since 2014, I've sold 14 videos around the World and currently I'm a top 100 Newsflare Filmaker. I'd recommend anyone to download the Newsflare free app, upload any amusing, newsworthy vids and enjoy some extra cash !

Had an amazing time posting videos to Newsflare while I was at the World Cup in Qatar.
A huge thank you to David and his team for encouraging me to make videos and make some money in the process.

Passed more than half a year since couples of videos was sold and got nothing.
Finally, I have got my money.

This so called company claims public videos as their own. Greedy scumbags

Website won't allow logins. This happened previously and found out they have an horrendous amount of pop-ups, malware and tracking software/add-ins that load. Malwarebytes blocks these, but then it won't let you in. Enabling GoogleTagManager worked last time, but this time even enabling that won't allow it to let me login. No access to my account and support is dreadful. "Clear your cache" they always say. Which, derrrrr, I've done. I'm running the latest version of Edge. But even on Chrome and IE, the result is the same.
