Avoid purchasing a vehicle from Motorplus Newport
Avoid purchasing a vehicle from Motorplus Spytty Newport or from their new site in Rogerstone. My Daughter purchased a 68 plate VW Polo and paid £10995 cash that she had saved. Offered £2500 for her old car that developed a problem prior to the sale and then offer £1000 which was fair enough so we paid the difference.
Told the car would have a rigorous inspection prior to collection to ensure car was fit for the road and a new MOT. We collected the car four days later with a sticker attached to the window stating car checked. It became apparent the car was accident damaged and came straight off the transporter and given to my 18 year old daughter with no checks made.
First my daughter said her windscreen washers don’t work, I filled the bottle and the fluid drain straight out of under the car. I took it back to them stating the car had apparently had their peace of mind checks but the water bottle was cracked and would have failed a MOT, They replaced the bottle. But the site manager fobbed of my concern.
The issues had continued with the car, the drivers side head light housings are all cracked with the light not secure again should have failed and MOT, the trim on slam panel all snapped, The air conditioning pump was disconnected and not functioning, the front grill fixing are snapped and not secure, the plastic drip trays under the car again fixings snapped and unsecured held up with cable ties. Understand used cars can have issues but not happy about their failed promises.
They were happy for my 19 year old to drive a car out of their premises with no checks dropped straight off a transporter and given to her. Obviously the margin they make is the upmost priority.
