I ordered skirting boards from Skirting World because I needed longer lengths than what B&Q or Wickes offered. The delivery arrived within around 10 days, which was fine.
However, when it came to fitting, I noticed the profile was slightly different to the ones sold at B&Q and Wickes. I called Skirting World’s office to explain, and the person I spoke to was very dismissive. He told me, “everyone’s will be different as we cut to order,” which I found confusing — if that’s the case, it should be clearly stated on their website or explained before ordering.
When I asked what could be done, I was told I could return the items but would only receive 50% of my money back, and I’d also have to pay delivery charges. In my case, after those costs, I’d get nothing back from an order of just over £50 — the man even said, “you might as well keep it then.”
The attitude was poor, the customer service was unhelpful, and the lack of transparency about product differences is unacceptable.
B&Q and Wickes sell consistent products — why can’t Skirting World?
⚠️ Be very cautious before ordering. Poor service and misleading information. I wouldn’t trust this company.

We understand the frustration when profiles don’t match those from other retailers. However, it’s important to note that although skirting profiles can share the same name, each manufacturer produces their own version using different tooling and machinery. This means that even when the design name is similar (for example, “Torus” or “Ogee”), the exact shape and measurements can vary slightly between companies.
At Skirting World, all our products are machined to order in our own factory to ensure quality and precision. Because of this made-to-order process, our returns policy differs from that of retailers who hold pre-cut stock, which is why a restocking fee applies.
We always aim to be as transparent as possible and will look into how we can make this clearer on our website to help avoid any confusion in future.

Incredibly poor delivery
The delivery of my order was the only downfall. The material is good quality and the staff were incredibly helpful. Unfortunately the delivery driver did not follow the instructions given and left £170 of MDF outside in the pouring rain all day. Ultimately rendering the entirety of the order unusable. Again, the staff on the phone were very helpful and apologetic and done their best to resolve the issue. They did in the end provide me a refund but I had to rearrange the project timeline as a result of the botched delivery.

They have an amazing choice of skirting, especially the skirting that fits over your existing skirting. Its an amazing idea and saves so much work .
