A young man called Cullum

A young man called Cullum, we called him smiley, most pleasant and helpful, making shopping at the food hall a joy. Congratulations to Marks and Spencer for having such a lovely man on the team. (Western Road, Brighton)

Love it!!

I can’t complain about this staple on the high street. The quality and price is excellent. Not a big fan of the new Sparks though but I am a big fan of marks. Refunds are instant. Staff are amazing.

Appalling website ……. Maybe have a word with Next for excellent website advice

Really sorry to be writing this. Had given up on buying on line with M&S as website is so poor to navigate with glitches issues etc constantly but finally got payment and it wouldn’t accept PayPal ( my problem apparently according to M&S - not theirs 🙄, of course) and then I assume payment was taken , nothing confirmed on webpage and no email since. Suppose to be for delivery tomorrow.

Log-in impossible.

Just about given up on the "sparks" rewards scheme. I've tried numerous times to change my password, but the system never accepts my new one. I just get a message: "failed to verify guest token". Even worse, nobody answers e-mails, or they get returned to my inbox. Phone calls are also a waste of time, as they're only interested if you've actually placed an order. They've just lost another customer....

Hassle and money lost through M&S faulty goods

I bought a top of the range bed set (duvet cover and pillow cases) and matching sheet. After washing the bed set the duvet cover seam was coming apart so I returned it and got a replacement. The same problem occurred with the replacement. M&S are happy to refund this bed set so that I can get a replacement but they don’t do this colour any more so if I bought a new bed set I’d have to get a new sheet too. They won’t refund the sheet I have because “there’s nothing wrong with it”. I don’t see why I should be out of pocket because their goods are faulty. I expected better from M&S.

Faulty goods

Purchased shoes in March 2026 but not worn until recent holiday in June 2026. Half way through holiday both shoes became unwearable as side stitching had become detached.
Returned to store on 15th June and was greeted by 2 really helpful assistants on the returns desk Meadowhall Sheffield - Donna and Ifsal. Refunded my purchase without any hassle.

Over promise and under deliver

What has happened to M&S? After purchasing 3 cushions I ordered a further cushion. The address for some reason defaulted to Jersey. I spent ages on the phone, 3+ emails to them and told it was sorted, to then receive a notification saying order cancelled and is now out of stock and it will be 7 days for them to refund. Disgusting service from what used to be a quality retailer. Their customer service are just robots and obviously just want you off the phone and to give you an answer to satisfy you to then follow up with an email with a no return email address.

Surprise meal

I visited the food hall in Plymouth recently at Derriford Retail Park.
I found the staff very helpful and knowledgeable. Babs was really helpful in choosing a surprise meal for my wife.
My wife loved the meal.
Thanks again.

Awful customer service

I have always associated Marks and Spencer with quality products and good customer service and have previously been pleased with online orders. However, my recent experience was a nightmare.

23rd May I place an online order for three items - perfume, slippers and the classic M&S beauty bag. The slippers and the perfume arrive no problem, but I receive notification the beauty bag is delayed. Not a problem, but then I receive no further updates.

2nd June I contact customer service. The gentleman I deal with, Norman, is helpful. He apologises and offers to reorder or refund. I ask for a reorder. He spends time checking there is stock then puts the order through. I receive email confirmation and this has reverted from Keri to "Cheryl". On my order history I once sent flowers to a friend called Cheryl and it seemed to have pulled info from that. As the delivery address is correct, I don't worry.

6th June I receive another email to "Cheryl" apologising that the order has to be cancelled. They will be refunding me. Apparently the amount they will be sending is £0.00. Not the £40.00 I paid.

I can only assume their system has picked up the replacement order, which of course I wasn't charged for. I try to call customer service and end up sitting in a queue. Eventually I give up and email them instead, simply wanting to check they will be refunding the £40. I also express my annoyance that the order was cancelled when they've my money for two weeks!

8th June I receive a reply from Gabriela. She understands my frustration, but can't deal with me. She needs to speak to "Cheryl". This is despite the original order coming from my account, to my email address and being paid for by me. I email back and explain "Cheryl" is a lady I once sent flowers to and I don't understand why they suddenly have her as the main contact on my account when I have never had problems on any previous orders.

9th June I receive a phone call from Rasheda. She is apologetic and processes the refund.

13th June Marks and Spencer contact me at my email address and ask "Cheryl" to review her M&S beauty bag!

Nothing like adding insult to injury, is there?

Marks and Spencers, Union Square, Aberdeen

In Union Square, Aberdeen. Round about midday tried to buy Raspberry and Chocolate Cookies which I specifically journeyed into town to purchase, to be told abruptly they were sold out. I could see loads of white and milk chocolate cookies cooling on racks waiting to be packaged which are obviously more popular and sell better. Disappointed that they are not interested in keeping a check on other less popular flavours and baking more of these at the start of the day so they are not sold out before prime time on a Saturday.

Fish Pie for one, £7. More rhetoric than fish.

M&S Fish Pie for One, £7.
The packaging claims this product is ‘packed’ with cod, king prawns, salmon, smoked haddock and scallops, topped with mashed potato. Unfortunately, the reality was very different.
In the portion I bought, I counted four prawns, one tiny piece of salmon, no visible cod, no smoked haddock and no scallops. What I did get was a large amount of bland, under-seasoned mashed potato.
This is disappointing, especially at £7 for a single-serving meal. The product bears little resemblance to the description on the pack, and the word ‘packed’ is misleading to say the least.
A more accurate description would be: "Unseasoned Mashed Potato with Traces of Fish.”

Obtaining money by deception

I used the online service and bought 16 items. 1 day after purchase confirmation, m & s cancelled my order. NO advisory or reason that it was to be cancelled, just cancelled. There own terms state that I have the option to cancel the transaction myself, within 30 mins of the order being placed, which I didn't. This is clearly their error
They did of course keep the payment.
An absolutely appalling service.

I paid for an order that was advertised…

I paid for an order that was advertised with next-day delivery. Two days later, I have only received one item. I was then informed that the remaining items may not arrive until Monday, which is too late for my needs. Although I received a partial refund, the delivery charge was not refunded despite the service not being provided as promised. I am very disappointed with the overall experience and the lack of communication regarding the delay. Order: 301-0065071-0879181
