Amazon have turned love film into a complete rip off.

We have had both Netflix and Lovefilm for well over a year now. Both had pros and cons mostly in the selection of content. However since Amazon changed everything this weekend they have destroyed Lovefilm.
Firstly there is no apparent refund for the outstanding amount that was already paid to lovefilm.
Secondly the changeover meant ages struggling to swap the account to an Amzon Prime one so no doubt I'll be charged there somewhere along the line.
Thirdly as already mentioned it's a minefield working out what you do and do not get included in the subscription.
And finally and most annoyingly they seem to change this randomly. We watched most of Sherlock season 1 episode 3 last night, included in our prime subscription but this evening lo and behold it is now £2.99 to watch the rest.

In short I will not be continuing this subscription (after season 2 of vikings has finished that is).

Avoid this money grabbing pile of excrement!

Rubbish - following Change From Lovefilm to Amazon Prime Instant Video :-(

I've had Lovefilm instant for over a year now and it was great. Following the change/re-brand from Lovefilm to Amazon Prime Instant Video, the service has deteriorated something awful!
So bad in fact that I have just cancelled my membership.
I’d let Lovefilm/Amazon know but can’t fine any contact information on their site.
So goodbye Lovefilm… and hello Netflix!

Merge with Prime ruined the service

The merge with Prime now means that I can't just load up the site and watch anything I can see, I now have to check to see if its available as part of my paid subscription or if I would have to pay extra for it. The amount that I would have to pay is frankly ridiculous also. £30 or more for a season, I can buy the discs on Blu-Ray cheaper than this from the local supermarket. I have cancelled my subscription and will be moving to Netflix.

Way to ruin a service

Now the paid for films are mingled in with the non paid for films,

Great way to annoy your customers amazon / Love film.

Now my kids get disappointed when they see Despicable Me 2 etc on love film but cannot actually see it as i have them blocked from buying films.

This dirty trick amazon is a pretty poor way to annoy a customer with 6 Kindles. You have our money this time but we won't be tricked again.

Will be cancelling and off to netflix asap.

Just cancelled Love Film, Amazon have ruined.

I've been with Love Film for years, Good Firm, Good Service and I could talk to them. This morning I tried logging on then it got hard, I had to log on via Amazon. Now I dont know what money is coming out or when or what I get for it and I no longer can easyly email them or contact them so I've now cancelled them (I think?). I like Amazon its self but they should have left Love Film alone. Go back to how it was and I'll come back.

Going Down Hill Fast

I've not had many complaints about this company in the past but the quality of service has gone down hill considerably recently with the move to Amazon Prime.
I've had issues with a DVD I returned over a week ago, which it appears they have not received but trying to let them know so they can sort it out has been difficult. At least you could e-mail someone before but there doesn't seem to be that option now. Also it would appear that any reviews you took time to write about rental films have now been erased because I don't see any signs that they'll be transferred to the Amazon website from the old LoveFilm one. If so, what a waste of time writing those was. It's probable I'll cancel my account in the near future. A company that's been around as long as Amazon ought to be able to do things more efficiently than this.

Merge with Amazon Another LoveFilm Scam to Make more Money

Used to like my lovefilm account; Simple understandable pricing and website.
Now taken over by Amazon, New releases are not released to view as part of your subscription, Instead you pay a subscription for older movies and rents by post, but have to pay per title to stream new releases.
Talk About a Scam!!!!!
Also if anyone currently has an Account From lovefilm for unlimited two discs at a time plus streaming it is £9.99 a month, but if you cancel an re-join, The same service will cost £ 5.99 a month for the streaming part and £ 6.99 a month for the two rentals by post.

AMAZON GREED ALL OVER AGAIN !!!!!!!!

new move with AMAZON was the biggest mistake and we cancelled our £9.99/mth subscription

We loved lovefilm, the site was clear, service ultra fast and rarely was the dvd scratched. over 2 o3 years of it we did.
But now being FORCED TO MERGE AMAZON/loveFILM ACCOUNTS INTO ONE with very unclear charges, confusing new site and lay out, and significant risk of wrong amazon purchase by member of our family, CC nfo leaks etc, we refused and cancelled it immediately.
Goodbye Amazon/Lovefilm. Hello Netflix?

LoveFilm, where the B movies go

I signed up for a 30 day trial when Netflix started to look a bit stale but cancelled the same day. They seem to have a huge selection of B movies and not much else, what a load of old rubbish. It's a cheap subscription, but what's the point when you can't see anything you want to watch.

I'm only interested in the streaming service, as waiting several days for a dvd to arrive in the post seems very outdated. LoveFilm's streaming content is even more limited than their dvd selection. Streaming also seemed to use huge amounts of battery power and make my laptop run red hot, by comparison Netflix streaming worked really well and didn't leave me with a dead battery and a howling cooling fan after each film.

Finally, why no app for Android? This is something Netflix offer and is really useful. The technology obviously exists, why don't LoveFilm catch up?

I'm only an occasional subscriber, but it's definitely back to Netflix for me the next time I sign up.

ANNOYING AND DISRESPECTFUL CANCELLATION PROCESS !!!!

I pay £120 per year for my Love Film account. I expect some respect as a customer. It is disrespectful to stop supplying new titles for the INSTANT section, I noticed over December / January there was a severe lack of anything good.

When I looked through the categories on my xbox 360 app. , every category kept showing the same titles. I was browsing through COMEDY and every second title was actually a horror. - MOST CONFUSING

I went to cancel my account, which should be a simple process done via the website when you login to your account, but NO.. there is a new page which gives you a telephone number which you must call to cancel !

The first is an 0800 number, but there is an alternative 020 number if you can't call free numbers on your mobile ( thats me ) - I called and the robot voice said you are in a queue, waiting time " 3 MINUTES "

I waited and wait... at minutes 12! .. yes 12 minutes! ...the call was answered and some Indian dude ( what a freaking surprise! ) ... tried to keep me on the phone for as long as possible, I cut him short and said angrily - JUST CANCEL MY ACCOUNT, he put me on hold, came back 2 minutes later and confirmed my account had bee cancelled and I hung up.

I have used 20 MINUTES of my monthly minute quota given to me by GIFF GAFF ... this is RIDICULOUS!..

Do these companies think we are so stupid ? ..isn't it obvious why LOVE FILM has resorted to this new cancellation tactic - BECAUSE IT IS A TACTIC, it is deceptive and disrespectful.

I will never use LoveFilm EVER AGAIN! .. and I will investigate any of it affiliate companies and never use them ever again.

Word of mouth is the worst and best type of advertising for businesses ... and I will make sure every damn person I meet knows about LOVE FILMS underhanded tactics!

I tried to email LOVE FILM support, I was responded to 3 times, but sympathy was completely lost in translation - here are the names of the robots that emailed me: PRASANNA, YUVRAJ, RAGESH .... and here is a line from one of their responses ...

" I sorry to understand you were unable to get through our phone line
to cancel the account as we experienced high call volumes "

WTF !!! .. no really, this is the heigh of disrespect.

Disrespectful cancellation technique

To cancel one must, having made up one's mind to cancel, phone Lovefilm, which without hiccoughs took almost 10 minutes for me. The several problems with this are as follows: 1. The time it takes is or can be annoying in itself, and especially when one considers that all of this time (which could be 10 minutes, as it was for me) is unnecessarily taken up. 2. The lie that to phone is necessary in order to leave feedback for Lovefilm, whereas in reality to leave feedback online is possible (as evidenced right here). 3. The foot-in-the-door technique of trying to persuade someone who wants to cancel Lovefilm to maintain one's membership, with a discount for 2 months as a sweetener to the deal. This technique is both unwanted and impossible to stop occurring, and so it closely mirrors the pushy technique of the salesman who puts his foot in the door to stop one closing it on him. Not only is it unwanted but it could also persuade someone against their better judgement to continue their subscription by being placed on the spot and by being subjected to a sales-talk.
PS It is my opinion, and to verify this would take closer inspection, that the films that Lovefilm offers are low quality, perhaps bought by Lovefilm only because of their cheapness, and that they significantly outnumber the TV series that Lovefilm offers, which for some could be just as enjoyable to watch as films.

No wonder everyone is downloading movies

I had Netflix and Lovefilm at the same time. My lovefilm subscription consisted of unlimited dvd/blu rays (2 at a time) and the online streaming app which I use on my Xbox 360. I must say that while Lovefilm seems to have fresher content available on its streaming service than Netflix there is almost always a 'time-out' issue or a buffering issue causing me to stop viewing. I have never had this problem with Netflix. Now for the postal side of things. It's a wonder why the so called leading DVD rental service in the UK has such a devastatingly long window between stores such as Tesco and ASDA, HMV and the likes getting new titles and Lovefilm getting them. Especially since the company is owned by Amazon. Almost every title one wants to see is only available to rent 6-8 weeks after it is available on demand and in stores. Titles such as The Heat, Wolverine, Percy Jackson and the sea of monsters, Great Gatsby, Pacific Rim, Oblivion (the list is not exhaustive) were only available 7 weeks after they were available to buy or rent on demand. The postal service is not breath-taking either - it started out ok but then became slow, taking up to a week to receive movies. Customer service is shocking too. When you complain via email for anything, they tell you how to cancel. When you try to cancel they try to offer you 3 months for the price of 1. Lovefilm is crap, I'd rather fork out more money to watch what I want when I want to and pay £5.00 a month to have Netflix superior range of television and back catalogue movies (some titles are surprisingly new) and not to mention HD quality. If anybody who pulls the strings at Lovefilm is reading this - here's a novel idea, get more up to date content - your customers are not stupid, they know what films they want to see and where else to get them. No wonder piracy is so rampant.

quite literally you are better off buying DVDs off dell trotter

signed up to watch a few films. paid my 5.99 but cancelled my subscription immediately. Was given the option to cancel with immediate effect or at the end of the month. Obviously chose the end of the month so I could use the service for the month I paid for. Spent an hour trying to find something worth watching on their shitty site only to find they wont let me.

SO THEY TOOK MY MONEY AND PROVIDED NO SERVICE AND WERE DECEITFUL IN THE PROCESS. APPALLING!!!!

Thieves, unhelpful, poor customer service!! AVOID!!!

Just found out LoveFilm have been removing money from my bank account years after I had cancelled. Ok that was bad enough but when I rang up the guy on the other end he refused to refund my money saying I needed to go to my bank and ask them to sort it out due to 'fraudulent circumstances'......'hello' your company is stealing money from my account why can't you just refund my hard earned cash?!! This company needs to be exposed for it's stealing and extremely poor customer service. I will go to my bank tomorrow and remove my details from them. When I cancelled originally they continued taking money from my account when they shouldn't and I had to sort that out but I seem to remember them authorizing payment back into my account. BE WARNED this company is dodgy and crooked, AVOID at all costs.

Very poor customer services

Trying my best to cancel our LoveFilm services. Rang customer services (0844 number) and had the gentleman tell me I had to ring 5 days before my next payment was due to cancel - WHAT?!?
A couple of weeks later logged onto site and found a way to cancel on there. Hurrah! Posted back our 2 discs as advised and thought that was it. NO! Got an email today to say 2 more discs were being sent out. NOOOOOOO! I don;t want anymore.
So managed to find 0800 0911514 as an alternative to the 0844 number.

Spoke to Yuvraj - who said to just post them back. Why should I have to take time, effort & expense out of my day to post back discs that I didn't want in the first place?
And Yuvraj was not authorised to process any goodwill credit to recompense me for my wasted time and effort etc despite me being ' a long-term valuable customer' - ha ha

I'm fuming & would definitely NOT recommend LoveFilm

Wouldn't offer me a free trial..yet they hand out so many >:(

So I wanted to try out lovefilm for a while but had heard that they had been offering amazon vouchers with their free trials, so thought I might as well wait till that offer becomes available again. I had received an offer in the post a while back which had expired offering me the same thing.
So when the offer became available I signed myself up. I received an email teliing me I had signed up but I could not use the service as they had to activate it after looking at my details. Around 4 hours later I received an email telling me I was not eligable for a free trial because apparently someone else had used my address (I was completely unaware of this). On the page of the free trial it specifically said in the terms and conditions "One free trial per person". I send an annoyed email to love film and received an email back a few hours later. My email stated that I was annoyed that I couldn't get a free trial and that I wasn't aware of anyone else in the house hold having used the service, maybe even our next door neighbour with the same address +a had made the system think that. I told them that I was genuinely inteterested in using the service and would like to use the service to see what it was like etc etc. And that I was also confused because it said in the terms and conditions at the bottom of the page of the offer that it was one free trial per person.
In the email I received back all they basically said was that they were sorry and then showed me some terms and conditions that weren't listed on the initial page the offer was on...(not really fair) and that I couldn't have a trial.
So sent them back another email telling them that I was still confused of how the terms and conditions on the page I saw said something different to what I was told in the email I received. That I was annoyed since they constantly hand out free trials to many people all the time, yet they couldn't even offer me, a genuinely interested customer, a free trial.
I told them that they could no longer consider me a customer if I couldn't get a free trial.
And they replied with an email basically stating what they said before.
--Sorry my post is so long, but I am just so annoyed with this company since they hand out so many freebies all the time, and so many take advantage, and yet here they have a genuinely interested person in their service and they refuse to even give me a 30day free trial.

Very poor turnaround on unlimited discs

Let me start by saying I've been a customer for well over 12 months on instant streaming and 2 discs unlimited. The last few weeks had me having to phone them to find out when I'd get some new discs to watch, now this has gone from sending discs back on Monday night and receiving new discs to watch on Wednesday morning to full weeks and seeing no discs at all and having to phone to complain only to hear maddening excuses that mainly involved them blaming the post office. Very poor instant and sent disc choices considering they scrapped the rented games part of the business to make the films section "a world class service". I'm guessing the film companies are not playing ball because all lovefilm are able to offer are kids films every time new titles are released. Great for the kids i suppose.

LoveMoney

Rang to cancel my account and had to go through a laborious phonecall where the man was trying to make me stay, after saying "No, I want to cancel." he says "Okay after your 2 months of free LoveFilm, it will be cancelled" with me replying "I don't want any free months, i want to cancel and payments to stop"

After 10 painful minutes apparently he starts getting the jist that i 'want to cancel' (so i thought) I specifically repeat "So i wont be charged anymore?" he says yes, but you will be charged for the current month. I agree, just so i can end the call and not have to pay anymore and we end the call.

A month after paying my 'last payment', i look at my statement and low and behold. Lovefilm has taken payment from account. So i'll now have to ring AGAIN or go to my bank to block payments.

I do not recommend and would definitely avoid, you might as well just use Netflix.
