I bought a pair of motorcycle panniers… but poor quality, don't buy!

I bought a pair of motorcycle panniers recently from lomo the bags themselves looked heavy duty but the plastic buckle clips looked rather flimsy.
The first time I used the bag one of the buckles clips had broken, I only had a modest amount of kit in the bags no where near to capacity and a buckle clips has broken on the first trip.
I contacted lomo about this along with a picture of the broken buckle and all they said was this is not a manufacturer fault? Whatever that means, I replied it's a bag that's not fit for purpose that's what it is, they have refused to replace the bag or give me a refund.
How long will the other buckles last?

Sorry we weren't able to resolve the situation to your satisfaction. If I understand correctly the buckle broke after 4-5 months of ownership. Accidental damage to a plastic clip wouldn't be covered by the warranty, and that's what what we were trying to say when explaining it wasn't a manufacturing problem.

To try and help I've now sent you a repair buckle in the post. This is a special buckle you can replace the broken one with, without having to unpick any of the stitching. Hope this helps.

Been shopping with Lomo for years

Been shopping with Lomo for years. Great products at very keen prices. Had a small issue with delivery the other week and after a quick call, a chap called Grant was able to track my parcel and reassure me it was being delivered the next day. Sure, enough arrived next morning. Always find them helpful and friendly when dealing with them. Would recommend for swimming needs.

Appalling customer service.

Over the years I have bought many items from Lomo. The price point is very attractive, as was good customer service, in the beginning at least. These days quality can be hit and miss and customer service has proven to be appalling, on at least two separate occasions. I do not recommend buying from Lomo.

Sorry we weren't able to resolve the problem to your satisfaction. Our customer service team did try. We even sent photos to you of how to fit the item properly and said you can return for a refund if the are not suitable for you. I understand you are unhappy that we didn't give you a prepaid label for return, but the item isn't faulty.

Rubbish kit! Dont buy. Not fit for purpose

Regretfully having to leave a poor experience review. Firstly, on sending back wetsuits (bought a few to check sizing) when none of them fitted (size chart is quite off to be honest) the refund took 24 days to go back into my account. I feel this was a long time to get a refund (also did this with Alpkit and got a refund in 2 days). I bought two pairs of neoprene socks from LOMO and when both fitted I phoned for advice. The dearer ones were suggested as the best ones. I have worn them 6 times and I take 5 steps into the outdoor pool I use them in and this is how they have faired: Holes in the bottom, holes by seems even though they are not tight, wear on the bottom not yet gone through but it clearly will on next wear. I have tried to get a refund as they are clearly not fit for purpose, to be told that their wetsuits gloves and socks with this damage is caused by contact with stones and hard surfaces, this seems to me that its not just me who has gone back with a 'not fit for purpose' product. Also, I explained on the phone how I will be using them and yet I was still directed to buying the more expensive socks. Very unsatisfactory customer service, costs a lot to return items, refunds taking far too long and no offer of refund if item is faulty/not fit for purpose. Wont shop here again.

I'm sorry the refund took longer than normal. I'm not sure why that happened. Regarding the socks though, these are one of our most popular products, but when people use them as shoes, rather than socks, then they will wear through like most other socks.

Sizing is way off

Sizing is way off - don’t waste your time. I went two sizes above my normal size and it’s still way too tight. Worst purchase this year

Sorry you didnt manage to get a product to fit. We find out wetsuit sizes to be pretty accurate. Wetsuit jackets need to be just as tight as full wetsuits to do the job well so they will be much much tighter than a regular jacket. If you engage with our customer service team with your measurements they should be able to exchange or refund your purchase.

Customer support worse than awful

The product was okay but failed after two weeks with seams coming apart. The company took back the product at my expense and returned it with a poor glused repair and failed to repair the stitching. They said it would render it not waterproof which begs the question why it was stitched in the first place. The company insist it is fit for purpose. Their support was arrogant and dismissive, and they tried to make me feel grateful for being their customer. I think the customer support ( the irony!) person had a very high opinion of himself and gave the impression that he was totally uninterested in helping. I have never come across anything like it. If your product needs to be fixed, don't expect a service. They will sell to you and then abandon you. That's my experience.

It's hard to respond to this as it's an anonymous review from 'Ian' so an not sure exactly which order it relates to but from you comments it looks like we did repair the items but you didn't agree on the method of repair. Gluing is an excellent method or repair in the right circumstances.

Brilliant products, excellent service and competitive prices, highly recommended.

I had previously purchased some equipment from Lomo, via their excellent website. I was very impressed with the quality of the equipment.
I have just been to Glasgow for a meeting and when finished, I rushed over to Lomo.
Huge range of great products, very competitive prices and service with a smile.
If you are considering buying anything to do with water sports, either check their website, or even better go to their store, you won’t be disappointed

Lomo is a gem!

What a find!
Plenty of well made, really good value sport & outdoor gear. I’m not sure how Lomo do it, but my experience has only been positive – rapid delivery, good product support and a wide range of items. Can’t fault Lomo for their products or service.

Be carefull

Be carefull. They charge toll and handeling upon arriving at the destination country when you live in the EU outside UK/Skotland, for me living in DK, this was 217 kr.
The item+ shipping was 378 kr.
Just as you know..

Hi There, It's not us who is charging you, it's your local customs office. Most of the fee is normally VAT which we have deducted from your bill as it's no longer paid to us, it's paid locally to your customs office. So you paid less at checkout than normal as you pay the VAT locally. Most small UK companies have to operate this way.

Poor customer service - be cautious

I bought carbon walking poles costing £50ish. They looked the part but turned out to be unfit for purpose when one of them snapped on my second walk. I contacted Lomo who said it was not a manufacturing fault, so could not repair/refund. No apology. Very disappointed - I can only assume that they are manufactured to snap under moderate use. I have gone back to my old poles which are still going strong after 20 years. I bought some other stuff at same time which looks OK but I will not be going back. Poor customer service. Be cautious if you buy from them

Sorry to hear a pole snapped on you . Our lightweight carbon poles are just as strong as the more expensive brands carbon poles but if you accidentally overload them they can snap. Just like the more expensive brands.

You get what you pay for

You get what you pay for, as they say, and this is very true of Lomo products. The price is good and they last as you might expect. However, the customer service is shocking. 60 lt dry bag bought and after a few outings the stitching went on the strap. Customer service claimed I overloaded the bag (3 wetsuits and two towels) yet there was no evidence of strain or tears just perfect holes where the stitching came undone. No refund, no apology, no support. Very disappointing. Would happily recommend avoiding.

Don’t buy bag for bikepacking from here - go to alpkit instead!

Bought the 13l bikepacking seat pack dry bag. Velcro straps don’t fit around aero seat posts rendering the bag useless ! Contacted the company explaining this (it is not advertised on their website either that it only suits certain bikes), I was left constantly adjusting the bag on a bikepacking trip abroad with a rental road bike, and the bag ended up ripping on this trip because of this. I got a shoddy response from them telling me that it is up to me to find out whether it is suitable for a particular bike (WT*!). Don’t bother with them - go to ALPKIT instead, much more reliable bags that fit all bikes!!

Avoid like the plague

Avoid like the plague. Purchased a wall mount kayak rack, it failed on first use. Followed installation instructions to the letter, Lomo declined my request for a replacement, blaming incorrect installation. It failed in two places, further investigation seems others experienced the same issues. Never purchasing from Lomo again and regret not reading these reviews beforehand. Terrible product and appalling customer service.

Faulty pre-bent kayak trousers

I bought a pair of pre-bent kayak trousers in April 2023. The stitching has come undone on the knee pad and the left seat area has disintegrated and worn through after about 10 wears. That is unacceptable wear for such a small number of uses. They won't replace them as say its fair wear and tear... . I think the fabric is faulty as I have had the same sort previously which lasted years. Very disappointing customer service. I like to support local business but not if the stuff is poor quality.

Impressive company and product

Really impressed with both this company and their product. They replaced a Nuatare wetsuit that was a bit roomy for me, with no quibbles, after talking me through the different options available on the phone. I came up in between sizes. I went for the smaller size and actually it fits like a glove!

Just terrible customer service I would…

Just terrible customer service I would not recommend using Lomo. Open water swim gloves used 12 times, left one showing significant water ingress with no visible hole. Tow float again used 12 times not holding inflation no visible hole. Told the gloves are not dry gloves so some water ingress to be expected. Yes I know but one glove shouldn't fill up with water? Tow float I must get over inflating - ehh again I've had others so know how to inflate. Basically not interested once a sale has been made. I'd avoid and shop elsewhere

Leaky Lomo sleeping mat, poor customer service

At 11 months my sleeping mat developed multiple (9+) small punctures at many of the seams. I contacted Lomo (albeit slightly outside the 12 month warranty period) and rather than resolve the issue simply, they didn’t accept that these were due to manufacturing and expected me to fix them all myself. No no to Lomo for me in the future, poor quality customer service and product

[edit following reply from Lomo… these are not accidental punctures. They are multiple holes in the seam/weld between the air pockets which appears to be a manufacturing defect]

Sorry you've had a problem with the bag but a bag that's been accidentally punctured wouldn't be covered even within the warranty period.
