I'm sorry but LL Bean like so many…

I'm sorry but LL Bean like so many other similar companies have an aura about themselves that their merchandise is some one of a kind. Everything is imported and really just a step above discount chains. In their defense there are a host of other so called high end companies doing the same thing. The products just do not match up with the prices. In these economic times I am afraid these companies are slowly going to disappear. Like so many others It's just a Name.

I received the LL Bean catalog in the mail and couldn't believe the prices! And with the exception of Bean boots everything is "Imported" I don't know if Bean got the message about "Buying American" evidently they just ignored it! I would gladly pay those prices IF their products were made in America!

I purchased two pairs Bean Boots only…

I purchased two pairs of Bean Boots only to have them both literally start falling apart at the seam within minutes of wearing them. Immensely disappointing considering I spent nearly 500 dollars on the boots. 10 out 10 would not recommend.

Ordered a very expensive king sized…

Ordered a very expensive king sized flannel comforter cover. It did not include something that Bean always included: king pillow shams or any shams for that matter. Purchased sets from Bean for over 25+ years and they always included the appropriate size shams. They only sent a link for me to purchase standard shams that match the pattern. We have a king sized bed with king sized pillows. Have requested a return but have not heard anything back. Run away!!

I am disappointed with L.L

I am disappointed with L.L. Beans customer service. I bought 2 end tables (over $300.00 total) and never received them. The representative admitted that they were never sent (no tracking number) but their time allowance had expired and they would not refund my money. This is not right.

I got a credit card from you which I cancelled due to the first thing I got was a compromised card. I started to get these charges I didn't recognize when I called your card I had trouble understanding the person on the other end. I cancelled the card and will never recommend your card to anyone since this has never happened to me before. I'm finished with LL Bean

Experience with UK order

Recently ordered a few shirts and a sweater from LL Bean and wish I had checked these reviews first. The shipment to the UK was free (took 2-3 weeks to arrive).

My main issue is with the returns. LL bean provide a DHL international returns service. I followed the instructions and a label was generated. I then arranged a collection day for which I booked off work.

The courier did not arrive on the day I had booked for collection. No email or text regarding this.

When attempting to track collection - apparently the waybill number does not exist in their system.

Furthermore, despite filling out the correct weight for my parcel (1.6kg) the label printed 0.7lbs.

I have reached out to DHL and LL bean. Waiting to hear back.

Edit: I have added a couple of stars due to the fact that LL bean distribute your refund the moment they detect the parcel has been dispatched back to their returns centre. This is much appreciated as usually companies wait until the parcel arrives at their store and it is then inspected which can take days. So props to LL bean for initiating refunds and speeding that process up.

Due to duties and delivery fees I don't think I would shop with LL bean again but I do hope they open a UK store in the future as I think they do have some great products.

That's how you create customer loyalty

LL Bean replaced my Nautica Men's Trail Model Rain Jacket several years after I purchased it because the lining had started peeling. I really admire that they stand by their products. That's how you created customer loyalty!

Overpriced, inflexible,

Generally, they are very overpriced. I have an LL BEAN Credit Card, which I used to make large purchases and then I typically use my Bean points to buy shirts and pants.

What I don't like is if I make a mistake on an order, they are originally inflexible they cannot make a change. They cannot stop a shipment, even if it's done immediately seconds after the mistake was realized. If you call customer care, they give you a bunch of bullshit and they ship the product out anyway and then it takes weeks to return it and re-order the proper product using your points.

I highly recommend you shop around elsewhere. There's another major anchor chain that I am using that is local to me and I can get the same or better quality shirts for 1/4 of the price.

Additionally, I like to say that the credit card is very confusing. You cannot track your current balance easily. I often find that I can't make a payment when I want to? WTF. I don't want a credit card that I have to call them constantly to try to sort out messes that could easily be avoided by good accounting. If you check L.L.Bean, you'll see that they are getting low marks on reviews and their credit card is even lower. My advice is to avoid both the company and the credit card.

Barbara- Park Meadows Colorado

I visited the Park Meadows store in Colorado today and was assisted by Barbara.
What a great experience. Barbara provided excellent customer service and made us feel very special.
She was knowledgeable about the products and answered all of my questions. She offered alternatives to better satisfy what I was looking for and did so in a no pressure manner.
We left feeling like we were family! We will be back.
This world needs more people like Barbara!!!!

Unreliable and they don't care

On my wife's birthday last week, Thursday October 2nd, I went to the LL Bean website to order an email gift card that promised to be delivered to my wife’s email account within two to four hours. I got notification that stated my credit card was charged, I had an order number and her email address was correct. Nothing happened, she got no email, no notification, nothing in trash or spam folders etc. This morning October 6th, I contacted their help desk and eventually got Kevin online who took the order number. and within a few minutes said something like 'we sent the email, you say you didn't get it - resent - 2 to 4 hours'. That response angered me, Kevin clearly took no accountability, and offered no apology. He just signed off, conversation over. A normal company would have dug a little more as to what happened..... and, forgive me for this, I was very upset that my wife did not get her birthday present on her birthday. Kevin clearly didn't care about any of that. This will never happen again.

Outstanding Customer Service

I am blown away with the customer service at L.L.Bean. I made a purchase online and needed to return and exchange twice to get the right fit (my fault, not theirs) and the process was seamless. The return was complicated because I wanted to buy another size and compare both items before I returned one. I originally paid a sale price and I wanted to keep that price. The sale was over, so I needed some help. Tom, the gentleman who helped me was extremely pleasant and there was absolutely no "answering ridiculous questions." He asked only a couple of things to verify my call and had all the rest of the info at his fingertips. Exactly the way it is supposed to work but never does at other sellers! I did this twice and each time, Tom was so efficient and so nice. Everything you buy at L.L.Bean is guaranteed for a year. I'm a customer for life.

"Made in China"

I've had an LL bean credit card for probably 20 years
& literally have spent thousands of dollars on your
products. when I called today I was told that my account has been closed because I haven't used it
for some time. I was upset at first & upon further
investigation I found out that contrary to my belief
that your products are made in the USA they actually are mostly imported, primarily from China.
Considering the cost of your items you must be making a fortune since the Chinese have child labor
& pay them nothing. I'm glad my account was closed!!

My husband purchased a wool guide…

My husband purchased a wool guide sweater in 3XL but it only measures 27 1/2 inches under the arm ! Sorry he’s not from a foreign country and understand most linens garments are made there time to us us measurements for us citizens and bring products back to USA !

No refund

Very poor website, I was charged for an item but the order didn’t process. Ll bean would not refund me despite them confirming I didn’t have a live order with them, I’ve now spent 2 months battling for a refund from PayPal and my card provider. Very poor customer service

Your sales are very misleading

Your sales are very misleading. Your discounts are very misleading. I spent 30 minutes trying to find something and even though I was expecting a discount, everything was marked full price. You don't find that out until you get to the final tally. You need to consider truth in your advertising.

This is the Second "Missing" Payment!

This is the second month in a row my payment was not posted in a timely manner.I've been a Bean customer for probably 20 years,never been late with a payment.The late charge on the first payment was reversed.The second payment has still not appeared and it's been 14 days.The customer rep I spoke to couldn't possibly have been nastier or ruder if she tried,and of course,wouldn't look into it or do anything,only said to send another payment.I closed my account and will NEVER buy from Bean again.All over a $40 payment!I think it's a scam done to collect late payments falsely! They are losing a good customer.It's a shame! Wow,how Bean has changed,and not for the good!!!

I don’t trust LL Bean anymore

Looked through my house and realized I own over 10 items from L.L.Bean, boots, tote bags, turtlenecks, toiletry bag, backpacks. Many boat & totes from jumbo to tiny.

Recently returned to L.L.Bean after taking some time off when they changed the return policy (yes, I know that was years back in 2018).

The socks I just bought are much too tight, even though my legs are slim and the foot area fit fine. Someone decided to save on elastic, I see!! Imagine that saving pennies on elastic…

Sized up on a black turtleneck, the customer service chat, who was friendly assured me it would be roomy, but upon arrival the sleeves are too short and snug at the wrists.

When I went to purchase the cranberry turtleneck August 15, 2025, there was no sign to say it was back ordered then later I got an email saying it wouldn’t be shipped until September 4. I know what I saw. I would not have initially ordered it if I saw a backorder sign.

That’s not a coincidence it feels deliberate, like they’re cutting corners or manipulating fit for the bottom line=saving pennies per item adds up.

Add the friction layer of the $6.50 return fee, hassle of printing labels because LLB has no QR code returns and it’s clear this isn’t the L.L.Bean it used to be.

I value the items that I bought back in the day when the quality was constant and I will not be purchasing anymore L.L. Bean items after the cranberry turtleneck comes in and if the sleeves are too short like the black one, I’ll hand wash and stretch the sleeves, which is something I’m willing to do, but they won’t be getting anymore of my money.

Wont tell my friends not to shop L.L. Bean. I just won’t mention them at all. I’m done.
