Watch out for service charges at the end, even if no service is due
I have had several vehicles from Lex over the last 8 years. I returned my last lease vehicle to them December 2024. The vehicle had not reached the manufacturer's requirements to be serviced, in fact I provided evidence to show that Volvo did not need the car servicing, so there were no service records to handover as it was less than two years and not hit it's millage limit. Having raised a dispute on their extortionate missing service document fee and set out my reasoning and evidence, I was directed to their terms and conditions that supersede the manufacturer requirements, and they have kept the charge in place. I am unsure why Lex Ts and Cs are able to superseded a manufacturers servicing requirements, save as to act as a charging function to exiting customers. Very disappointing end to a long period of business. Review left to encourage anyone in the same situation to get it serviced anyway even if it isn't required before the lease up, as it's cheaper.
Would use again
I leased a VW T-Roc over 4 years. I never had any issues with delivery and no issues throughout the lease. On return of the vehicle, it was easy to arrange and they noted a few body scratches to be expected over a 4 year period. Although the collection company confirmed some charges, when I logged into Lex they had credited £300 so the final payment was minimal. They also credited my last debited payment as I'd given the car back a few weeks early than expected. Again, all without any call from me. I would use them again and recommend.
Lex Autolease offer the most appalling…
Lex Autolease offer the most appalling customer service imaginable. I currently lease 2 vehicles from them and 1 of those vehicles cannot be driven safely due to Volvo not ordering a part they knew had to be installed today (they cannot now fit the part for a further 2 weeks, so it will be 3 weeks in total). Although very frustrated with the Volvo dealership for this oversight, my agreement is with Lex with whom I pay a lot of money to lease me a vehicle I can drive and that is safe. I called Lex Autolease as they are the registered owners of the vehicle and I lease it from them, and I pay to be able to drive in a car I can use that is safe. I explained the situation to them but they have no procedure other than we need to investigate, which for a company that size isn't a quick process. Kids need collecting from school in 3 hours and they simply aren't interested in providing an urgent resolution such as an emergency car hire until the lease car is roadworthy. They offer no resolution or suggestions of any kind. Basically they have thrown the issue back to me as the customer and told me there is nothing they can do until they contact Volvo and investigate but this won't be today (and it's the weekend tomorrow). They don't accept that I pay them to provide a vehicle I can use that is safe, or that the onus is on them to rectify this issue. But they don't want to know and there seems to be no escalation procedure in an emergency situations like this. I was told "Managers are not phone facing" so you cant even speak to someone who can make a decision. They will take your money but when something goes wrong, you need to work to their timescales (if you raise a complaint to the customer resolution department the auto email you receive says they will get back to you within 6-8 weeks).
I will never use Lex Autolease again, the lack of empathy or understanding is astounding. You are left on your own and treated with corporate arrogance of the worst kind, having to fend for yourself when a situation arises.
PLEASE READ! Lex have kept me and my son in an abusive situation
If I could give zero stars I would!
I had been a customer with Lex for over 5 years, I had never missed a payment and was a very good customer.
This is my story... In January 2024 my Range Rover Sport was stolen in London. I was out of contract and had a rolling contract that I was paying month by month. I had received a quote previously in December 2023 from BCA with an offer to purchase the car for £28,775 my insurance company paid out over £40k for my car to Lex and they kept all monies. I paid for the rental on my car from January 2024-April 2025 whilst the insurance was dealing with the pay out.
Back in 2020 during covid I had taken a payment holiday as I was furloughed and expecting a baby on my own and as I had no income I was given the option to take a 3 month break, which I was grateful for. Although I was still making payments for the car from January 2024-April 2025 Lex did a part refund on the money I had been paying and then DEFAULTED MY CREDIT FILE! Instead of using the over payments for the two outstanding covid payments, they placed a default with no 14 day warning. The first I found out about the default was the letter to say that they had defaulted my credit file. They have caused myself so much stress and my mental health has suffered considerably.I have left an absuive relationship to try and start a new life for me and my 4 year old son. because of the default I am now unable to move to be closer to my sons school because I am unable to get a mortgage because of the default. I pleaded with Lex that I wanted to pay whatever was outstanding and the default removed as they don't realise the implications this is having on mine and my sons life BUT THEY DID NOT CARE!! I am now fighting it with the financial ombudsman in the hope that we can get it removed. I WOULD NEVER EVER recommend LEX to anyone. They are greedy and they do not care what damaged they cause to young families.
5 years hassle free
I've had a hassle free experience with Lex Autolease.
I took delivery of my Mazda 3 in 2019 on a 48 month, 40000 mile contact.
My contract came to an end in 2023 and 4 years on I faced an increase of almost 35% on new lease deals and vehicle prices.
Lex offered an extention to my lease to 60 months / 50000 miles at the same rate which suited me as it circumvented having to re-enter the vehicle market facing these increased costs.
I have now just completed 60 months / 50000 miles hassle free leasing and driving with lex auto lease, and was absolutely delighted to have been given the option to purchase the vehicle outright at below market value through BCA lexdriversales.
Never again
Never again! staff representative are bullies and rude, their atitude is unbelievable.
Shocking experience with this company…
Shocking experience with this company from the start. I was looking forward to taking delivery of my new vehicle on the 20th January however after checking and double checking the delivery time which I was told would be anytime up to 5pm at my work address which is in a different city to where I live, I was finally told the vehicle would arrive at 6:30pm but unfortunately it never arrived and therefore I was stranded and without any recourse. In the end my partner had to drive from Dronfield over to Doncaster at 7pm at night with our young children who had been fast asleep in bed on a school night which was traumatic for them to say the least. I was told the car had not arrived as it had broken down on route but no one had tried to contact me. The next day I was told they would provide a hire car until an alternative vehicle to the one I had ordered would be provided however after 3 days and numerous confirmations I received that the hire car would be delivered it never arrived and yet again I was stranded. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!
Lex autolease - will make you pay 50% per penalty charges
I received a letter from my council with a penalty charge notice increased by 50% because I wasn't notified previously with the first one, it was sent to Lex Autolease, and they never told me about it. Thanks a lot, now I have to pay £195, rather than £60. Please, change your horrible system, if some of your clients get a fine, you must notify them immediately, so they can pay the it quickly to avoid increases. You charge them already £10 for nothing.
Not recommended
I would not recommend Lex autolease to lease your car from! Despite paying a high rental value and paying for the maintenance package, if you are without a car due to repairs being needed due to issues with the car, and nothing of your own fault, you are left without a car for however long it takes. They recommend and make you book MOT & services with companies that don’t have the facility to fix any issues so it can be weeks without a car. Complaints take 8 weeks to be looked in to, by then it’s too late when you can’t get around. A company that does not go out of its way to help its customers. Definitely would not recommend.
AVOID worst company you could lease…
AVOID worst company you could lease off. I’ve stopped payments as no garage will fix my car as soon as they hear it’s leased through this company. I’ve had no car for 2 months and no further on. They take up to 8 weeks to reply when you complain honestly you couldn’t lease off a worse company.
AVOID
I would have given them 0 stars if I could. Avoid. They are awful.
Terrible service
Terrible service. Took a double payment without telling!
AVOID AVOID AVOID
AVOID AVOID AVOID, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
By far the worst leasing company I have dealt with. They have managed to put me off leasing cars for life. My new PURCHASED car gets delivered next week. 86% of your customers review give 1 star that would be 0 star if there was the option. Very pleased that your profits have nose dived £400 million this year, you deserve it for how you treat your customers.
I don't understand why so many negative…
I don't understand why so many negative reviews. My experience with Lex was outstanding. Yes, it took a lot of time to get someone work on my case for a severe mechanical issue on my car but once I got a manager things were excellent.
I just want to thank Meghan B. for being the most amazing person and helping me with everything she could so I can end my lease and get a new vehicle. Thanks to her, I can now enjoy a functional vehicle and go on with my plans.
Thanks again Meghan!!!
After 30 years leasing vehicles this…
After 30 years leasing vehicles this company bar far is the most criminal. Average of 1 star accorss all platforms speaks volumes.
Amended contract for with mileage increase, we recieve the acceptance email and the price goes up as expected. We pay for 10 months the new amount. after handover the take £1000 for additional mileage. We complain and the make up lies and tell us the contract amendment did not go through? No emails or correspondence from them to prove they told us otherwise timed out, yet the agreed new higher amount was taken. We will be starting small claims court and will request the CEO to attend court. Someone will have to explain in court why they have charged us. Disgusting.
Human Touch Thanks
I returned Lease Car early as downsized out of financial necessity and personal circunstances.
Lex in particular Stephen Shuttleworth was extremely empathetic . We agreed a payment plan and structured to minimise levels of stress which was a decision made and huge lifestyle change.
I would have no hesitation recommending Lex as they showed a human side to business practice.
At same time a major Bank showed the total opposite and have been relentless and totally callous.
I take full responsibility for decisions and good to know some companies do have individuals who care.
Utter disgrace
I ordered a vehicle as part of the salary sacrifice scheme through my workplace and the lex Autolease portal. The application process went quite well and I committed to the order in October 2024. I was advised my stock date was 11/2024. 1 week before the stock date and after personally paying for an EV charge point, I was told my stock date was moved to March 2025! With no guarantee that it won’t be moved again. I subsequently have spoken to no less than 4 individuals requesting an alternative colour to see if this will speed up the process and all of them telling me different things. The dealership lex uses (pendragon) for sourcing cars doesn’t even respond to messages and if you try calling them, they never answer the phone. Bottom line is, don’t order from this company and definitely don’t enter into a salary sacrifice scheme with Lex. I have never seen bigger cowboys than these guys. They can’t even get stock of vehicles they are advertising and unless you’re willing to wait months on end for your car or get sent on a merry go-round, go somewhere else!. It’s crazy to think I have not even received my car yet or started paying them and they are treating me like this. I can only imagine what they would be like once I’m fully locked in! This review is based on a genuine experience. If I could give negative stars I would and all the other reviews are 100% accurate.
Only had problems when handing the car…
Only had problems when handing the car back - we disputed some of the damage to the vehicle as we were being charged an extortionate amount. After only two months they entered a default on our credit record with no prior warning despite the fact we were in contact with them. - appalling customer service. We have paid the bill in full, but the default still remains on our records and they refuse to amend this.
An absolute disgrace of a company
An absolute disgrace of a company. My fully maintained Audi A3 has broken down for the second time (same fault which was replaced last time), and Lex are refusing a courtesy car. Apparently it was an option that was not selected when the contract was taken out - this is despite me trying to order a new contract whilst on the phone and pointing out that the only two options are "Maintenance Included" or "Maintenance Not Included". They will lie to make their lives easier. I will never use these people again, and nor should you. I now have now way of collecting my daughter from nursery. Peace of mind my arse. Useless.
Excellent experience across the entire lease
Towards the end of my lease, I got concerned by seeing so many bad reviews, but I honestly cannot fault LEX. I had a 4-year lease and never had issues. The online portal is easy to use and all my phone / email interactions with their customer services team were smooth and addressed my needs, including authorisation to drive the vehicle outside UK and informal extension for the lease. They talked through my concerns in simple terms and actioned each case exactly as they said they would. I respect the other reviewers and their complaints but from my experience, I found LEX a very reliable company to deal with. Worth mentioning that the collection process, managed by BCA, was also very professional and smooth. Finally, I highlight that based on my experience, I would not hesitate in using LEX again.
