I have a problem with my tire. We are trying to reach the agency for 2hours ago and nobody answer the phone, call me back or answer my emails.

For the moment it is a horrible experience with Lava Car Rental. We feel alone, with no help. And we contacted full protection insurance.

Our experience was excellent. They picked us up at the airport upon our arrival and also took us back at the end of our trip. Emanuel was the one who assisted us and provided excellent service. He gave us tips for our trip and was extremely helpful. The van we rented, a Kia Sorento, was in excellent condition. We circumnavigated the island in nine days, and the trip was extremely comfortable and safe. I highly recommend Lava Car Rental.

We had a great experience with Lava Car Rental! They generously upgraded our vehicle to a better one, which turned out to be a huge help given the road conditions, snow, and rain we encountered. The car was reliable, clean, and handled everything we threw at it. And the price was fair. Amazing experience with our car rental in Iceland! Everything was smooth from the very beginning: we were picked up with a free and super quick airport transfer, greeted by a friendly team, and handed a clean, reliable car ready for adventure. They gave us all the essential tips for driving safely in Icelandic conditions.

We explored the stunning western coast all the way to the glacier in the east — and the 4x4 we rented was absolutely perfect for the journey. The whole trip went without a hitch, and when we returned the car, they even offered us snacks — such a thoughtful touch after a long ride.

Highly recommended for anyone wanting to explore Iceland freely and stress-free. We’ll definitely be booking with them again!

I highly recommend from all aspects (price,service).
You are provided with a ride from the airport to the rental company and also vice versa when you hand over the car. They were in contact with us before and during our stay and were helpful with their "know how". Also very reasonably priced compared to other rental companies, without having to have a credit card (as not everyone has one) and pay a deposit. They have a good selection of cars, everyone will find one to suit their needs. We were very satisfied, more than we expected 😊
The first rental company I have had a good experience with or when I just needed to enquire, no hidden fees, completely hassle free and also check in and check out very quick.
Next time we go back, which we definitely will, we will only go through them 👌✨

We arrived out of hours (nearly midnight) and As soon as we arrive to Keflavik, they were waiting for us outside :) easy check in with the box system, the car was the same that we booked. To drop off, was straight forward with a quick inspection and all set to go. No hidden fees, and they did not charged anything else. They brought us back to the airport after that ! I will rent again with Lava Car Rental :)

Amazing service- great car. The staff were so nice and efficient. When we arrived the car picked us up at the airport and brought us to the rental stop. It was very swift. We got a Lava chocolate bar, wifi, and a Garmin and off we went. Driving around Iceland was easy with the Mitsubishi Eclipse 4X4. I would recommend a 4X4 in Iceland at any time of year. I'm telling everyone about Lava. Thanks so much

Things did not start out promising--an airport employee directed us to the wrong location to wait and told us a representative from Lava would come in and call our name. Once we figured out that something was amiss, we made a call to Lava and got things straightened out. At the correct location (main departures door, not the shuttle lot) and outside (they do not come in and call your name) things went very smoothly. Check in was speedy and smooth, and they even gave us an upgrade to the next class of car. The vehicle itself was in perfect condition (with a brand new windshield) and served us well. I was glad we purchased the premium insurance coverage--as the new windshield was chipped when we returned it. (They aren't kidding about the toll the landscape takes on cars!) Return was also very speedy and smooth, and employees were helpful and friendly. And free chocolate bars? Nothing bad to say about that! We will definitely use Lava again.

My experience was great. Very easy to take the shuttle to your place which was a heck of a lot calmer than waiting in the line at the airport at all the other car rental groups that are there. Car worked as expected and was nice. Drop off was smooth as well. I would easily recommend to anybody this company and will be using them in my future travels to Iceland.

Booking easy and clear. No hidden extras at pick up. Transfer easy and friendly staff.
Car was clean and full with fuel.
Had an issue with a slow puncture. Called Lava car and was quickly directed to a nearby garage. Puncture sorted with no charge but Lava car would have covered the charge.
Car was really economical.

I've rented enough cars around the world to know the difference between good service and bad, and honestly, this company falls below average despite claiming to be one of the best. I booked with Lava thinking it was a top choice compared to options like Blue Car, but I was disappointed.

First off, their shuttle buses are tiny — barely fitting nine people crammed in uncomfortably. If you happen to arrive on a busy day, you'll be stuck waiting. We had two large groups ahead of us and ended up skipping three shuttle buses, waiting around 30 minutes before finally reaching the rental location. If they know things get busy, why not just increase the shuttle frequency?

Once we arrived, things didn't get much better. There was only one person managing the desk, handling both check-ins and check-outs. Naturally, this led to long queues. It was so hectic that I’m pretty sure the staff member just handed us keys to a car someone had recently returned. He quickly checked the fuel gauge and that was it. Unsurprisingly, the car itself was gross. Hiring an extra staff member to split the workload would make a huge difference.

On our return, it was the same story — one person managing the desk and a painfully slow shuttle service. They claim the shuttles run every 5-7 minutes, but that wasn't the case. We waited far longer while one driver ferried people back and forth at a snail’s pace.

Overall, the service was underwhelming. Unless they improve their operations or offer the absolute cheapest rates, I wouldn’t book with them again.

It was our first Rental in Iceland and everything was very good and without any problems.
Honest prices and also they give the car with the full tank wich i find very good.
The car was a Suzuki S Cross very reliable and comfortable for driving in Iceland.
Would rent again with Lava.

Quick easy pick up from departures. Drive very nice. Set up for a Rav4 but got a Suzuki. It was fine and a hybrid so saved on gas. Pretty high mileage at 110,000 km.

We recently rented a Toyota Rav 4x4 for our trip to Iceland. The experience was quite good. The WiFi device made travel around Iceland very easy and the spiked tires gave us the confidence to travel when conditions were not as favorable. We would use this company again if we were to return based on this experience.

Our trip was fine with a good car, pick up at the airport was really friendly but the checkout wasn't unfortunately,the reception was very cold. I've reported at checkout that the tank was not full when we took possession of the car and no commercial gesture was offered.
