I used the pools for swimming laps in the Long Beach CA area. But it is very hard to swim laps. People go from the Sauna to the jacuzzi to the pool…..more like a hotel pool….never showering in betw... See more

25 minute personal trainer only $71
Pressure tactics, misleading and disappointing experience at LA Fitness .
They advertise “personal training sessions” but fail to clearly disclose they’re only 25 minutes—far from what most people expect. The sessions feel rushed and not worth the cost.
I was also promised workout “homework” and follow-up support, but received nothing. No plan, no guidance—just empty promises.
Feels like a bait-and-switch. Ask questions upfront—because they won’t tell you everything.
LA Fitness does not respond to members issues
Today as I was working out in the free weight room there was some guy playing profanity laced rap music on his Bluetooth speaker. I do not need to hear this garbage as I am trying to get a good workout in. I am thoroughly disgusted because I complained to the front desk and they did nothing. 10 minutes later and they still did nothing! They are more interested in selling memberships than responding to members issues in a timely manner. Most other gyms like Planet Fitness would never allow this to go on and would respond immediately.
Yes I recommend
I had a great experience with the personal trainer John. He’s a great listener and you can tell he is passionate about his work.
Most unfriendly staff I’ve ever…
Most unfriendly staff I’ve ever experienced.
Dirty, especially the locker room.
Broken equipment.
I had a great couple of months at this…
I had a great couple of months at this gym. Trent was my trainer. I show up today, and they tell me he quit. No one called or texted to cancel the session--no notice, nothing. I go to the front desk, and the guy is sucking on a lollipop with a grin. He says, "If you don't like it here, here is the door," pointing at the exit. His attitude and the audacity are impressive. No, I'm not taking his advice and going to the Pilates class instead. A lady wearing platform shoes that look like hooker footwear storms in--"What happened? Why are you taking pictures here?"--without a hello, good morning, or how are you? This gym is great if you really want to spend a lot of money and get nothing in return. The pool and jacuzzi are so disgusting I didn't even come close to them. There are chunks of hair floating in the jacuzzi, grouped together, seemingly sticking to their perfect habitat. That reminds me, there are many gyms in LA, and it's time for me to end this unfriendly chapter and move on to a more customer-focused environment. Adios--and never again, LA Fitness.
Terrible service
I had a membership with LA Fitness about a year ago and believed that I had canceled it at that time. I personally visited the club three separate times to cancel my membership, and the administrator confirmed to me that it had been canceled. Because of this, I was completely sure that my membership was no longer active.
Recently I decided to join again and went to the Vernon Hills location. I used the same personal information and the staff opened a new membership account for me. I paid about $250 to start the new membership.
A few days later I discovered that my old membership had actually never been canceled and I had been charged for the entire past year, which was about $500.
I contacted LA Fitness customer service and explained the situation. I was told to keep my old membership and cancel the new one, but I was also told that they could not refund the new membership because I had already signed the documents.
As a result, I ended up paying for a full year on the old membership that I didn’t know was still active, and I also lost about $250 on the new membership that I had to cancel because I was told I couldn’t have two memberships.
This situation is very frustrating because the new account was opened using the same personal information at the same location, yet no one noticed that I already had an active membership.
I am requesting a full refund for the entire year that I was charged on the old membership, as well as reconsideration of the refund for the new membership. I did not knowingly keep the original membership active, and this situation resulted in duplicate memberships and unnecessary charges.
I hope LA Fitness will review this case and resolve it fairly.

Poor customer service
Poor customer service. Difficult to get refund for your upfront paid sessions with your personal trainer.
I cancelled my membership as of 3/1/2026
Would not recommend it to my family members or friends
Use at your own risk
Use at your own risk. I took group fitness classes. The instructor had no clue or cared to demo good form. I ended up with rotator cuff injuries working on “sexy “ shoulders
The stoughton MA location
The stoughton MA location, equipment is dated ie treadmills - TV’s the ones that work I hope you can read lips Bluetooth unavailable, this applies to all the cardio equipment - also the bikes peddles are off balance.. just dated bad equipment. This gym ruins LA fitness brand this is 2026 … your equipment is over 25 years old
charging my bank account monthly membership after cancelling my membership
I called several times last year to cancel my membership and they have a policy that you have to walk in the gym for cancellations and I told them Im far away. Finally they told me I can do it on their website. I have cancelled my membership since December of last year and they are still taking out monthly payments out of my bank.
Terrible experience
Terrible experience , went to cancel membership and got bullied by the menager and employee and they started clapping saying “ yay she is leaving , then they wanted to charge me triple the amount I owe them and when ask for them to show me they refused and just changed and said it’s just one month , then they kept bullying and I decided to record for my protection and they threatened to beat me up and the menager snatched the phone from my hand , it was horrible , after I got charged they refused to give me a receipt telling me to come the day after while my bank account showed the charge was taken , worst experience of my life almost got jumped and got severely bullied and assaulted by menagment , don’t trust them with your money nor should you trust them with your safety and funny after I contacted corporate and send the video of the attack they just did nothing so I reported corporate entirely . Terrible don’t go there .

Stone Mountain location sauna is a death trap. There is black mold in showers.
Worst management I've ever seen in 12yrs
Worst management I've ever seen in 12 yrs. Shoneika and Ana are totally incompetent managers. Shoneika is incredibly rude. Dirty place. Equipment is mismanaged. Skip it there are better gyms.
LA Fitness Needed in Prescott
I have belonged to a gym for most of life. In my earlier years, extreme fitness. I have had so many different gym memberships based upon the proximity to where I resided. At times, I had multiple gym memberships, and I worked at a gym in college.
LA Fitness, has the Best equipment hands down of any other gym in the state. They are the only chain gym that I know of that has an indoor pool, saunas, indoor racquetball courts, and a lot of them even have indoor basketball courts. Their cardio equipment is the best in the industry. Their weight lifting machines are exceptional. The free weights are great too! A lot of LA Fitnesses also offer Yoga, and Zumba classes free of charge for their members.
My only negative is that you Don’t have One Gym in Prescott. Prescott is large enough for a LA Fitness and believe me we need it! I am stuck here with sub par gyms. 😵💫
Print the contract; don't sign it real-time
If you are thinking about starting an LA Fitness membership, please have the saleman print your "potential" contract out for you to read all of the fees before you sign it. Do not sign it realtime sitting there in the club on your iphone, their screen, or ipad. Get them to print it out and read it. Furthermore, do the same at other clubs to compare BEFORE you commit. For LA Fitness, upon sign up, you have a) $99 intiation fee with tax; b) first and last month fees, c) an annual due now of an additional $59 per person due upon your contract start date each year d) and then the monthly fee for just that club - you can't go to other clubs; and e) They insist that each member has their own email address so that if the main member cancels, LA Fitness can continue to charge for each member separately. (Each member has to create an account using their individual email and cancel their membership themselves). LA Fitness customer support doesn't refund anything because it's "in the contract". Note: If you cancel, you have to cancel before that annual start date to save that $59 per person a year annual fee. 1 day after, and you can't get it refunded.
I signed up for a 1-year membership
I signed up for a 1-year membership in the Norwalk CT LA Fitness Center on Monday 1/12/26 to continue my physical therapy for a reattachment of a quadriceps tendon. I was promised a call that day or the next day to schedule an appointment with a trainer to instruct me on how to use the equipment for the workout prescribed by Coastal Orthopedics. No call. So, I went back to LA Fitness the following Monday and asked for help. The best they could do was take my name and number again and promise a call that afternoon or the next day. No call. So, I went back to LA Fitness on Wednesday 1/21/26 asking again for help. No one available, but if I would leave my name and number again, someone would call me later that day or the next day... to set up an appointment for the following week! I cancelled my membership.
Extremely surprising and disappointing …
Extremely surprising and disappointing experience at the Gulf Center location in Naples, Florida. From my initial interaction to my departure, what I encountered was a shocking example of how not to operate a fitness club.
When I arrived, I explained that I was interested in joining and wanted to use the 3-day trial advertised on that location’s website. Steven immediately told me to “go sit” in his office—an unprofessional, abrupt “greeting” to say the least. He then informed me that this location only offers a 1-day pass due to renovations. When I noted that the Gulf Center location’s own webpage advertises the 3-day trial, he dismissed it and repeated that it wasn’t available.
From the start, Steven’s demeanor made it clear he didn’t want to assist me. He even commented that his “whole day has been dealing with difficult people.” Ouch. When I said I didn’t feel I was being difficult for expecting an advertised promotion to be honored, he replied that he was just doing what head office told him and didn’t want to get in trouble because he had been yelled at all day. This is not an appropriate conversation to have with a prospective member.
After a quick workout, I thanked the young man at the front desk who was slumped over the counter on his cell phone. He only responded with a delayed “you’re welcome” as I was already walking out the door.
Having worked in the fitness club industry for nearly 30 years, I know that both the tone and demeanour Steven used and the disengaged behaviour at the front desk are unacceptable and would not be tolerated at most clubs. Front-line staff are there to greet, assist, and welcome members—not to sit on their phones or make customers feel like an inconvenience.
For comparison, I visited Crunch Fitness before trying LA Fitness. While their equipment was outdated, the staff were warm, attentive, and professional. Today I tried Amped Fitness and had a very positive experience with their staff as well. The gym’s equipment was also older than the newly renovated LA Fitness, but it was the staff interaction that set the tone for my overall positive experience. I would sooner join either of those clubs than LA Fitness.
I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as this location’s customer service fell far below industry standards.
Update: that note above was sent directly to customer service in December. I received no response. I subsequently joined Crunch and have zero regrets. The staff are friendly, attentive and the gym is perfect for my workout needs. La Fitness is double the price with none of the value, and clearly doesn’t value their clients.
The pool ph balance seems off
The pool ph balance in the pool. ⚖️ High salty taste if water gets in your mouth. Recruiting staff is great though. Especially our recruiter.
DO NOT JOIN LA FITNESS!!!
DO NOT JOIN LA FITNESS!!!
The reason are as follows:
1. When I initially talked to my salesperson he told me that the club was getting a red light sauna as the current one was not working, I assumed it would be soon but the sauna has not worked in 10 weeks since I have been a member which is absurd/ridiculous for a fitness club...I used to own a fitness club with indoor tennis, large fitness room, (at the time one of the biggest in upstate N.Y.), aerobics, pro shop, nice locker rooms with a sauna...if the sauna ever broke down which happened frequently as members would pour water on the coils and short circuit them I would FedEx the appropriate parts and get it fixed ASAP...plus the salesperson was not working there days after I joined so he probably knew that and said anything to sell a membership and assuming get a commission
2. In my opinion the club is oversold with memberships as no matter what time I come in there to work out it's tough getting on any piece of equipment as there's so many people working out
3. I had a member try to walk out with my jacket which I moved around with me as I worked out as didn't want to use your locker rooms
4. I don't want to use your locker room as the one day I forgot my flip flops and I got a wart on the bottom of my foot from your locker room floor
5. The main reason I joined your club is that you had a sauna versus Planet Fitness which did not
6. I have since joined Planet Fitness, both your club and PF are about the same distance and time from my house on East Ave and PF has probably 3x the equipment and space of your club, better machines with at least 2 of every plate loaded machine which usually means no waiting for a machine to work out on + they have more free weights than yours
7. Numerous times your club was dirty, noticeably the floors on the fitness areas
8. I tripped over your vacuum cord which has a 30-40' extension cord...I'm almost 77 and luckily I caught myself and didn't fall which could have been a lawsuit...I own a 4,000 sq. ft. home with 3 stories, (1875 house), and I have the same vacuum which is cordless for safety and ease of moving around and the last club I belonged to, (Midtown), had the cordless backpack vacuum so members wouldn't trip over a long cord and for ease of movement and safety and was faster as no cord to deal with...if I can have a cordless one as a homeowner I'm sure a big corporation like LA Fitness can afford one
9. I previously emailed the manager or so I thought but it was a generic email to LA Fit on a Friday and she never got back to me, I was told at the front desk that I could email her directly from the web site but it was a common email only...after I complained to her (Abby) at the front desk the next Monday she probably looked for it and got back to me in a day or so after that...I've taught small business administration and entrepreneurship at the college level and waiting 4-5 days to respond to a customer's complaint is not acceptable in a well run company...when I complained to her about the sauna she were cordial but kept giving me the run around about it and when it would be fixed and refused to give me any club credit for lack of services - the sauna - which was the main reason I joined your club
10. So I'm leaving LA Fitness and their lack of getting the sauna fixed in 10 weeks means they will lose my membership for many years to come, I've worked out and been an athlete since the 4th grade and will never stop belonging to a gym so LA lost thousands of dollars on my future membership and after the review I post which will be much of the above, you will lose numerous future members and cost the club 10's of thousands of dollars
11. The spin bikes are from maybe 2005 at the best and they are the worst spin bikes I have ever used in 25+ years...and they have maybe 2-3 spin classes a week, I only ever saw one
12. This "Gym" is like a used car lot from 1970 with sales people having desks to sit you down to hard sell you a membership for a "special deal" if you join that day...lying about anything to sell a membership and have that same slimy feeling of those old time used car sales people
13. And when I walked into the club and talked to Abby (East Ave Club in Brighton) I was told that initially I had paid for the first and last month so I have been billed for an extra month upfront so if you want to cancel they get an extra month out of you...what a scam from old time car dealers and scummy salespeople from clubs in the 1970's + 1980's and 1990's
