Bought the satin interior wood and metal paint in sage green. Prepped wood panelling and proceeded to paint. Or should I say slid some paint around for a bit. It will not cover at all, just streaks an... See more

Really dissapointed 😞 Something wrong…
Really dissapointed 😞 Something wrong with the viscosity......very thin and has the viscosity of milk ! Also the colour was miles out. Should have been Manhatton Grey but it was so dark it was almost black ! Unfortunately I did not keep my receipt so was unable to return it so £14 out of pocket. Bought Dulux Quick Dry Gloss and well worth the extra £4
Dreadful paint
Dreadful paint, natural sage, looks nothing like the colour on the tin and is patchy as hell. Have coated two walls twice after stirring well and both walls look appalling. I had the same problem a few years ago doing a white ceiling three coats and masses of dark patches, I should have learned my lesson then. Will not be buying Johnstone's paint again.
Worst paint i’ve ever used
Worst paint i’ve ever used, I did 2 coats on a light wall, patchy all over, had to buy another tin of the same paint to do another coat and it’s a much lighter shade, 5 coats in and it still looks uneven and unfinished. I would never ever buy or recommend this paint, I only bought it because i liked the colour, go to a proper paint shop and get a good quality paint. Don’t waste your time with this brand.
Rubbish paint
Rubbish paint, using a darkish grey on 3 door frames to cover white, took three coats and almost a full 750ml tin and still does not look right, i used dulux on the door frames in other rooms two coats and spot on. wont be using Johnstones again.
awful experience,purchased mauve…
awful experience, purchased mauve whisperer, matt paint.three coats later, patchy, came out different shades all over the walls.looks a total mess.
would not recommend.
Rubbish paint
Rubbish paint, bought some black metal paint and it was like water
Rubbish paint
Rubbish paint. Buy this pay twice! Did two walls with different Johnstone paint and it painted patchy, marked easily and low quality. I had to buy wickes paint to paint over and it's brilliant!
Do Not Buy!
Johnstones White Silk is absolute pants!!
4 coats & still patchy; driving us mad. It's not even going over a dark colour but it's so watery hardly any paint stays on the wall 😫
It's not a cheap paint (from B&M) I so wish we'd gone with Dulux.
Johnstones you have lost a customer as won't be buying any of your products ever again.
Update.. we purchased some Dulux in the end. Covered beautifully with 2 coats. Happened to mention it to B&Q staff member who said they no longer stock Johnstones as they had so many complaints.
Not again
I was using white silk not a big area part of a small bathroom
I've lost count of how many coats I did and
It still looks rubbish. I gave up at the end
Would never use it again
Avoid this paint
Did 2 coats have to do another. used Dulux on other walls did 2 coats perfect will never use Johnson product again .
Worst paint I’ve ever used
I bought 2.5 litres of magnolia flat paint , I’ve been painting nearly 50 years / did undercoat and 3 coats later won’t cover I’m of to buy Dulux should have known better with my experience.
Shockingly bad paint don’t ever but…
Shockingly bad paint don’t ever but this rubbish. I bought a 5lr ton of “Fresh Wheat” lovely colour, except the paint reacted with EVERYTHING, especially itself on the second coat. It bubbled and blistered all over with big half inch bubbles and little blisters everywhere. After speaking to Johnstone’s technician, I was told it was the crap wickes trade I undercoated the plaster with, I was told it was poor application, I was told my walls were dirty, everything but acceptance of there product being at fault. I tested the paint of paper, card, wood, and plasterboard, it’s blistered on everything! I took the paint back to the store I got it from and they tested it and saw the same results. I got a Dulux paint mixed in the same colour and that went on everything lovely. Not a single bubble or blister. Never buy this rubbish companies products.
Oh and I ever tried their technicians advice and use and Johnstone’s Johcryl sealer, and that bubbled on the Johnstone’s paint, not in the same spot either. Trash!!!
Shocked at how bad this paint is
Shocked at how bad this paint is . I purchased a 2.5 litre Johnstones non drip gloss . I stirred and stirred the paint but upon application there was small lumps which made it impossible to get a good finish so I stirred it for literally 10 minutes but to no avail painted one door and stopped using never will I purchase any of Johnstones paints again utter rubbish
I find Johnstones paint natural sage…
I find Johnstones not trade paint natural sage shows brush marks, needs 2/3 coats not opaque enough. I have nearly used 2.5x litres will need another. I have emailed to complain.Need a better quality paint. Disappointed. Will use my home which have vintage honey, cheaper and better quality.
Absolutely brilliant paint...
Absolutely brilliant paint...
I purchased a tin of Johnstone's Diamond Yellow Paint and opted for the sheen finish as the bedroom was already painted in a silk finish and was hideous to look at when natural light shone on it
It took 3 coats to cover the burgundy colour but I'm thrilled with the coverage.
*Highly recommend*
Johnson’s non drop satin
Johnson’s non drop satin
TERRIBLE
The smell is so bad we had to stay in one room for 7 days and it still smells bad. Potent! Don’t reccomend at all made my family feel ill and sick
Dreadful
Wish I had seen the reviews before buying!!! Its absolutely rubbish!!! Every brush mark seen and it's a bit 'karate kid' paint on, paint off!!!!
Never again the whole lot is going in the bin!!!
The company as no loyalty to long time…
The company as no loyalty to long time customers I was a good customer for over 40 years no had major health problems and they almost double what I owed using a collection agency called coface no empathy even though they had made grave accounting errors I am awaiting them to be investigated by FCA and other financial bodies avoid giving this buisness your hard earned money !!!
Terracotta Matt shows every brush…
Terracotta Matt shows every brush stroke. Covers ok (3 coats)
but can see end of brush strokes so patchy.
The worst paint I have ever used
This is far and away the worst paint I have used over 40 years. Coverage is appalling and remains poor, even after 3 coats. I have used Johnstone's paints many times in the past without problems but I shall NEVER risk using it again.
