I bid on a Vax cordless hoover. It was in a Vax box which looked okay. When it arrived it was completely broken to the point of not being worth repairing. I immediately contacted customer services and was told I could not get a refund due to their terms and conditions. I have no quarrel with second hand goods but I do have a quarrel with a company that knowingly sells you an item which is so visibly broken and then refuses you a refund. After getting nowhere with customer services, I wrote to the managing director Adam Pye. To date, nearly three weeks later, I have still not had the courtesy of a reply. To me this speaks volumes , not just about John Pye as a company but about their managing director. If the managing director of a company is so rude to customers, then no wonder his staff won't entertain refunds on goods which have been sold in a completely broken state. I would not advise anybody to buy electrical goods from this company unless they are sold as sealed. If your item turns out to be faulty, broken and unusable you will not be given a refund. John Pye Auctions are lauded as one of Britain's fastest growing businesses which is all very well and good but not if they are doing it by cheating their customers.

Had a issue with the courier and damaged goods that was professionally resolved in a timely manner by Persephone very happy with the process

Staff at Marchingron site are always pleasant & helpful. Had the odd error with listing's although Maya & Cody in the office went above & beyond to resolve for me. Keeping me updated & in a timely resolution. Great service!
Office Staff at Chesterfield site could take some training from these guys! If there were awards for zero customer service, Chesterfield you won it!

Beware, modern scam. They also do have insiders that will bid anonymous just to increase the price.

didnt give an answer on my questiion ... was issue with payment.. after they blocked me and didnt give me answer

The auctions are hit and miss and it seems it's not worth buying anything with a plug as it's most likely a returned item that won't work. After sales support was great, Persephone from the Marchington CS team was amazing in helping with a refund, very professional and prompt.

Response to my request was quick and was kindly dealt with satisfactorily.
The staff I interacted with, Shakira, was patient and willing to help.

I would not recommend buying from John Pye Auctions. There are a lot of hidden charges added on after you bid, which makes many items not worth buying in the end.
I bought a DJI drone that was shown with the controller and cables, but they failed to mention that the internal battery was missing. The listing also did not properly explain what parts were missing or whether the drone was actually working.
When I complained, they tried to blame the customer by saying you should attend in person to inspect the item yourself. That is not good enough. Listings should clearly state exactly what is included, what is missing, and whether the item has been tested.
The whole process feels misleading. If items are incomplete or untested, they should be honest and transparent about it from the start.

Very disappointing experience with John Pye Auctions.
I purchased two items through their auction platform — a coffee machine and a table. The table arrived broken, and the coffee machine does not work at all. Both items were effectively unusable upon arrival.
I contacted customer service multiple times requesting a refund and return label under my consumer rights, but they refused to take the items back or resolve the issue properly.
Selling damaged and non-functional products without accepting responsibility is completely unacceptable. Buyers should be extremely careful when purchasing from this company.
I am now escalating the matter through my payment provider and formal consumer complaint channels.
Would not recommend.

Like some many people l brought a dishwasher. BE AWARE...The description was model make and RRPwas given on the site along a some external photos but no internal photos
What it arrived was a more than second hand it was dented ... full of moulting food and half used dishwashers tablets inside.
We turned it on and it give my son a serious electric shock. It was totally died and dangerous as the cable very close the casting was damaged.
I have brought before from John Pye and visited one of the sites. But this was the 1st electrical purchase.... never again.

Most of the lots are complete junk, used at best. Missing parts, broken items. The stupidest thing is that people bid higher than they can buy new ones in the store.

Bought some fence up/down solar lights from Temu after 3 days stopped working. To be fair Temu refunded. Saw regularly fence lights on John Pye and selling well. Bid several times but didn’t win as went up to more than I wanted to pay with all the extra costs. Eventually won 2 sets only to find the are from Temu!! Scan the Q code and it takes you to Temu.com. Absolute rubbish for much more money than direct from Temu. Also, Temu refund, John Pye don’t. BEWARE DONT BID ON FENCE SOLAR LIGHTS unless you want to be ripped off
Is it possible to give Zero stars? Just purchased junk. Pressure washer completely dead on plugging it in. If you want to throw your hard earned away then please feel free to bid at John Pye Auctions! They do have quite a pile of crap to sell to unsuspecting members of the public weekly! Just remember you have absolutely no come back after purchase.

I bought a vacuum cleaner that doesn't work. In the description it just gave a model number and the original rrp along with a picture of the vacuum in the original box.
In my opinion JohnPye take advantage of the lack of protection an online/distant seller has when using an auction site.
-They are happy to sell broken junk to distant sellers without stating in the description that the product is faulty.
-They throw used broken junk into auctions that include customer returns so you might be lucky but its a gamble even if you physically get to see the products.
-Most lots have pictures with products in their boxes and descriptions stating the RRP as a carrot to reel you in.
-They also charge you an auction fee for the pleasure.
They will get your winning lot to you relatively quickly and send you a auto response email to any issues (a lot like the reply I'll no doubt get to this review) and withing 24 hours. They have phone numbers that actually have people on the other end which is nice too.
But I'd stay away unless you are able to repair electrical goods or know for certain what you are getting works. It wouldn't surprise me if they have someone bumping up the bids as well. Ill try trading standards and see if there's any course I can take to get my money back.
From your response. Pretty lame response. You are obviously happy selling broken crap. It wouldn't have mattered if I had seen it before as the suction motor is broken.

I have purchased a blender which arrived yesterday and it’s faulty, can’t even repair it as it’s more expensive as buying new. I paid £58 in total and costumer service doesn’t even care. Be careful as they don’t state if products are faulty , only when it doesn’t affect the product price really (like jewellery). I have purchased a year ago an Amazon fire tablet and had lots of problems and lasted a month too. Be careful as they don’t say anything in their description and would say it’s your fault you didn’t come to view the product and test it before purchasing.

I bought PS5 controller from the John Pye that was not described as faulty/damaged or untested, but when it arrived it was completely dead, no power at all. I contacted to their support team and they declined making a refund, £35 paid for nothing. Don't recommend using this scam service they sell broken stuff!

Persephone was very helpful, and chased up all my enquiries in a timely manor. Shame the item I ordered was incomplete

I bought 3 items from this auction site, and all 3 of them are broken/without parts.
You couldn’t see that parts are missing or cracked in pictures.
Incomplete orders/damaged, NO REFUND!
I would not use it anymore.
