I would not recommend IPVanish...

Their service is okay but I believe NordVPN by far has better service, functionality, and features. With that being said I’ve been a loyal IPVanish customer for about nine years, and this is by far the worst customer experience I’ve had with any subscription service.

Before my renewal date, I went into my account and turned off auto-renewal using their toggle switch. Based on that, I had every reason to believe my subscription would not renew. Despite this, I was charged $99 anyway. When I logged back in, the auto-renewal was somehow turned back on.

I immediately contacted customer support and spent a long time going back and forth with multiple agents. Instead of acknowledging the issue, they kept hiding behind their policy and refused to issue a refund. At one point, they even tried to offer partial compensation instead of simply refunding a charge I clearly did not authorize.

This is not just poor customer service, it feels deceptive. A long-time customer disables auto-renewal, still gets charged, is told they’ll get a refund, and then gets bounced between support and PayPal with no resolution.

Loyalty clearly means nothing here. Be very careful with auto-renewal and billing practices, because once they charge you, getting your money back is unnecessarily difficult.

I am currently in the process of disputing my charge through my bank account.

Disgraceful Thieves

At 1st the service was great a bargain for a 2ear subscription at £60 odd and did what it's meant to do. I received emails reminding me that my subscription was up for renewal on 07/04/2026 as I no longer required the service as the price had risen to an amount that I couldn't afford I turned off the auto renewal in my account on the ipvanish website on the 03/04/2026.

The previous payment was set up with PayPal, on the date of the renewal that I had already turned off previously, I received a email that the payment had been taken for the subscription which I had turned off 🤬🤬 I contacted Ipvanish via their contact form as the phone number wasn't recognised about this but did not receive a response.

I raised a dispute via PayPal again to no avail and I have again just emailed them regards, will I get a response?

In my eyes if you cancel the auto renewal prior to the date of renewal should your company be automatically taking these monies, correct me if I'm wrong or is this not fraud.

I don't hold out much hope for my request of a refund but would I use Ipvanish again "Never" would I recommend Ipvanish "No".

I suggest that everyone stears well clear of this company and I will be reporting my issue to the ombudsman to review.

Just an update, I received a response from the Ipvanish customer services to my email regards a refund, I was offered a 76% refund plus to keep thee service, as I no longer wished to use the service anymore I refused and requested a full refund, I am happy to say that I have had my account cancelled and been refunded in full. My initial review was for the lack of contact and due to the issue with the auto renewal process. since receiving contact IPvanish have been responsive and helpful so maybe not such a bad company at all.
IPVanish please sort out the auto renewal issues then the company would not get such bad reviews and probably would go from strength to strength.

Thank you for sorting out my issue and refunding me in full.

Ipvanish has gone downhill fast no support ignoring issues

Ipvanish has gone downhill fast im not the only one that is having issues, they use AI that is useless, I have requested support to contact me 4 times and have heard nothing, they have implemented a always on Threat protection that you are supposed to be able to turn off in the app, even if you turn it off in the app its still runs in the background if you exit it in the taskbar it then turns off your VPN. While its running in the taskbar it blocks access to some accounts IPVANISH was always more expensive than other VPN's but was worth it, this is now no longer true. also their sign in now wants you to login via sso that is an endless loop between the SSO site and my account. I will be cancelling my accont if I can ever find a way to contact them.

Absolute crooks

Absolute crooks. Signed up for first year £35 second year took £95.99 from my debit card, after complaining about the exessive charge reduced to £35 again and told ip vanish i no longer want their product please cancel my subscription 2026 year 3 again another £95.99 taken from my bank account.
Here is where it gets interesting after the second years funds where robbed from my bank I cancelled the card with my bank and ordered a new card with new 16 digit number however ip vanish still managed to take money out of my account without having permission. It looks like I will have to close my bank account to stop these theives helping themselves to money. After cancelling my account with ip vanish they still take what they like.
AVOID THESE THEIVES AT ALL COSTS THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY, DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND USE ANOTHER COMPANY.

Hello,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We sincerely apologize for the frustration and inconvenience you’ve experienced regarding your subscription renewals and the charges to your account. This is certainly not the experience we want for our customers.

Regarding the charge on your new card, many financial institutions use an Automatic Billing Service that provides updated card details to merchants to prevent service interruptions, which may be why the transaction still processed.

We would like to investigate your account history immediately to resolve this and ensure your subscription is fully terminated as requested. Please contact us directly at management@ipvanish.com so we can prioritize your case and assist you further.

IPVanish has been incredibly…

IPVanish has been incredibly frustrating to deal with. Their customer service is basically nonexistent — I’ve reached out multiple times and never received a meaningful response. When you’re paying for a service like this, you expect at least some level of support, but that just isn’t the case here.

On top of that, when issues come up, you’re left completely on your own. No follow-up, no accountability, and no urgency to help paying customers. It honestly feels like once they have your money, they stop caring.

I would not recommend IPVanish to anyone who values reliable support or responsiveness. There are plenty of other VPN providers out there that actually take care of their customers.

An order was placed with IP Vanish…

An order was placed with IP Vanish Canada (their Canadian website).
I ordered the "Essential $2.19/month. This was the least expensive package.
Eight screenshots detail the corrupt behaviour of this company. The other two show the transaction with PayPal.
...an order was made on IP Vanish Canada. I confirmed this before I proceeded.
The invoice came back for the "Advanced" product and with an extra currency exchange charge.
They knew and they were informed that they were billing for the wrong product and charging with the wrong currency.
They refused to refund the money because I didn't file for a refund within thirty days.
My complaints started right after the transaction. They just stalled.
Instead of being charged $56.50 yr CD , they charged our PayPal account $78.96 USD.
Right after that I found a charge for $113.09 CD was found in our chequing account. They were never given access to this account. Online we always go through PayPal. Our bank confirmed the money went into an IP Vanish account.
Would someone like to explain how this happened?

Refused Issued

We found out that an account had been created over a year ago with our email address. Neither my wife or I had any knowledge of doing this so when a charge showed up on our bank statement we reached out to customer service. After explaining what had happened and talking to several people, a refund was issued to our bank account.

Unwanted auto-renewal, refund refused

I was charged €89.99 for an automatic renewal of a subscription from 2020 that I was no longer using and wasn’t even aware was still active.

I cancelled immediately and did not use the service, but my initial refund request was refused.

After further escalation and contacting their management team, I finally received a full refund.

While I appreciate the resolution, it required multiple steps and persistence.

I had IVPVanish for several years

I had IVPVanish for several years. I've found AVG is much better. I tried to cancel my IVPVanish subscription by email. They told me I have to go through the app or website. When I did they told me since I pay yearly, I would have to wait until my renewal comes up. I forgot when my renewal came up. So again o tried to cancel. They could not refund my payment. They offered a discount to stay pr I can cancel and not receive a refund. I chose to cancel anyways. Then they charged me twice. On 2/23/26 charged $109.74, on 3/5/26 charged $98.76. I emailed about double charges on 3/22/26. It is now 4/2/26 still no response and not resolve. I do not recommend IVPVanish ther are much better IVP services.

Customer service/ refund

I have cancelled subscription, emailed them several times asking them not to take a payment. They took payment of £95 which I emailed them again asking them why they have took payment when I’ve asked them not to. They emailed me back to say they are looking into it. I rang my bank to ask for a refund. They sent me a refund to which IPVanish took it straight back out of my bank again. I would not recommend this company. Their customer service is extremely appalling. Not helpful at all. I’m out of pocket of £95 for a product I do not want or use

Avoid This Company

I have used IP Vanish for a couple of years and to be completely fair, I should start by saying that from a technical perspective, the service I have received has been good. Sadly, the same cannot be said for the customer service…

I signed up for the service around two years ago and paid up front for two years. When you join, it seems that flag on your account is automatically set to auto renew at the end of the pre-paid period at a price to be determined at the time. I did not want this so having signed up, I immediately switched off the auto renewal on my account.

Fast forward two years and bang £95.99 has been taken from my bank by IP Vanish. Surprised at this, I logged on the my account which still CLEARLY shows my account auto renew set to off. It seems that this is irrelevant – they simply take money from your bank account regardless of this.

I immediately wrote to customer services at IP Vanish to query the point. Their response? Absolutely nothing – they simply ignore you.

Based on my experience – my advice is to avoid this company.
